I have carried many times and have had no problem.

Usually put them in my checked luggage. I have been surprised by how well received. I have never had push back when introducing my toys. I would be hesitant in the states but in the DR it is like a bonus for the girls.

It depends on whether they are commercial samples or for personal use. If for personal use you may have to demonstrate them to customs officers. There is an additional import tax for dildoes over 8".

They may also be subject to check in the country you are departing from. I would leave the plastic vagina and the inflatable dolls at home.

    Hotels & girls

The bottom line is it depends on the girl. If the girl is well known to the hotel as a lobby lizard, a street girl, or a girl who caused trouble at one time or another, the hotel will make it harhd or imossible for you to get her in. If she is a well behaved girl who is dressed modestly and greets the staff appropriately with a smile ("saludos" or "buenas"). The staff won't disrespect her. This is the case for most every hotelin the country that isn't a cabana.

I have'nt stayed there recently or checked so I don't know the current policy. It's a good location. It has a restaurant and a little pool. The price is right but I heard they haven't undated the rooms for some time. Kayak rates are in the $65. 00 range.

Hilton Hotel is also on the Malecon and is chica friendly for an extra fee. Not much really close, within walking distance of the Hilton.

They check a lot of luggage now.

They check a lot of luggage now, I've brought lingerie (bought from Lingerie Diva, very good prices) along with a paddle and some other toys but my girl and I like a little BDSM, if you can stand the embarrassment I think you should be OK. I got a female customs agent who was looking at the stuff and was like "eres un tigre", I laughed it off but it was out there for more than her to see.

The prices are usually plainly displayed on the card on top of the mini bar. Some people are willing to pay the prices for the convenience.
A few blocks? The La Sirena on Avenida Mella is about 6-9 blocks (depending on how you count the blocks) from the Jumbo Express supermarket (some of those blocks will be uphill). La Sirena is 7-10 blocks from Mercure Comercial.

La Sirena locations http://tiendalasirena.com/tiendas/sirena_mella/ According to the La Sirena webpage there is a La Sirena store on Autopista Duarte which is probably a 35 minute car ride from zona colonial. There is a La Sirena at Avenida Mella No. 258, Santo Domingo in zona colonial. I assume when you say the La Sirena up Duarte a few blocks, you are referring to La Sirena on Avenida Mella.

As I said before, Jumbo Express, I have bought stuff there numerous times, one or two people ahead of me at the cashier, a two minute or less wait. Jumbo Express is one block from Mercure Comercial Hotel. That Jumbo Express used to be called La Despensa.

Some people pay the hotel's mini-bar prices. Maybe some people don't know that there is a supermarket one block away, where most of the mini-bar items can be purchased for less money (I remember years ago, a hotel charging $6US for a small can of pringle chips, those same chips are about $1US on amazon). Mercure is owned by Accor, a French company. I have never stayed in the Mercure Comercial.

My experience when going to Jumbo Express, in and out in less than 10 minutes, cashiers lines have never been more than two people. La Sirena is probably 3x times the distance.

Across the street from Jumbo Express supermarket is a hardware store that also sells some fishing gear.

Also one block west of Hotel Mercure Comercial is a department store called California, that has a Banco Popular teller and ATM machine, inside the store. The California store sells clothes and toiletries (toothpaste, shaving cream, toothbrushes etc). Inexpensive bikini bathing suits can be purchased in the California store for around 250 pesos (in case you invite an amiga to the pool or the beach and she shows up without a bathing suit).

One block east of the Hard Rock Cafe on El Conde is Segafredo Zanetti Espresso cafe which has "The Beds" lounge area, where you can lay on beds and order drinks or food.

    Two random question for anyone.

Me and my buddy will be returning to SD in November. This will be my 4th time to SD and I wanted to go out to some clubs on Avenida Venezuela which I've never done. Can anyone advise me on certain clubs that would be nice to take a girl (NON PRO) and to pick up girls?

Also I don't read much about Club MC which I've been to twice and really liked it. I was wondering if anyone knows if they were still open? I haven't been down since May 2010.

I would greatly appreciate the info.

Me and my buddy will be making our second trip in 3 months to the DR and had a question for the vets. When we were in Santo Domingo the last time we stayed at the Hodelpa in la Zona Colonial and all was good. However we have heard from an associate, who we are not quite sure is a mongerer, that a more happening place to stay was on the Malecon. Anyone know whether there are any chica friendly hotels on the Malecon and if so could you shoot us some names.

    Thanks guys

The only caution I have is that they take a deposit (1000 pesos I believe) to cover the use of the minibar (very high priced) , if you do not use anything you get the deposit back at the end of your stay. The problem is they do not offer to give it back, you have to ask which I forgot to do on my last visit. My fault I realise but would be nice if they reminded you, easy money for them

    Mercure breakfast

The Mercure breakfast buffet costs 200 pesos. For the Mercure room rate, you could stay one street away at Penalba, not pay guest fees, and have money to spare. Have fun.

The wifi varies depending on the location of the room, there are routers on each floor so usually one of them works for you.

The bathrooms are average, always had hot water. There is a digital safe in the closet.

The best part for me is the free breakfast, the buffet is very good including fresh juices and fruit. Keep in mind this hotel has a mix of clientele, from missionary groups heading to Haiti to local businessmen to mongers.

I usually go with my novia but when she is visiting family I have brought other chicas back without a problem, a few pesos to the security guy on the door works wonders.

I have no reason to look for a different hotel in SD at this point. Cannot beat the location in the Zona Colonial IMHO.

Still in the mountains Wiffed up enjoying the interaction with normal Dominicans. Kind of interesting the drastic reduction in color variation and holding to social norms. Still a casa and quickly hotel about but done in a very low-key manor. I'm supposed to go with a friend I met to one called villa geogis or jogee later next week.

Ill write a report when I get back. My vm server is lagging bad.
