It is tough to go to Santo Domingo on a first trip to the DR. Big city, for business rather than tourism,

Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo is not good for tourism? Zona Colonial has numerous museums. 500 year old buildings, cafes, restaurants, numerous non-pro women (something Sosua basically does not have not) , good hotels, bookstores, live music. Playa Sosua has rocks and sea urchins, so be careful entering the water there.

I was searching the thread but could not find anything. Has anyone stayed at an All inclusive in Juan Dolio? I am thinking of coming for a weekend and staying with a chica of mine. I am going to buy a package for 2, so I am hoping this will not be a problem. This chica is by no means a pro. Have any of you done this? Will I get shit from the staff because of our color difference? All thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

It is tough to go to Santo Domingo on a first trip to the DR. Big city, for business rather than tourism, no beach, can be expensive, though you can get what you want if you know your way about. This is why guys tend to prefer to vacation in Sosua. Everything-hotels, restaurants, bars, discos, massage, chicas, beach, supermarkets, convenience stors-within a few minutes walk, and you can pick up a dinner as cheap as $125 pesos if you don't mind a Dominican style eatery, or a superb breakfast for US$5. Or a chica for 1000 pesos and up (or even less sometimes, if you are not choosy.)

In Santo Domingo, you might cut your costs by eating at some of the sidewalk Dominican restaurants, take outs, colmados, and comedors that you can find on the Malecon or on the street one block back from the Malecon. Girls from clubs tend to be expensive, because the club is taking a cut and they are probably paying 500 pesos or even 1000 pesos finder's fee to your taxi driver, so where is that money coming from? That's right, out of your pocket. If you pay US$100, which is almost 4000 pesos, the girl is lucky if she gets 1500 pesos out of that, which is why you will get better value from freelancers. Since you have computer access, you might also try Mundoanuncio. Com for chicas. It's mostly escort agencies and such, but you might find something interesting. Good luck, but if you are staying a while and haven't prepaid the hotel, you might have more fun if you relocate.

I was in Santo Domingo last week. I stayed in the Zonal Colonal. I saw many monger tourists walking and sitting en El Conde. The mongers were international.
