I respectfully disagree about changing ANY money at the Santo Domingo airport. Again, you will find a cambio with far better rates as you drive away from the airport. It's on the left. Drive slow, and you will not miss it. You do not need any pesos as you are leaving the airport.

Likewise, I never change money at hotels. You can have them break large bills, but nothing else. Also, use your largest bills at the supermarket, and keep the 20 peso. 50 peso. 100 peso, and 200 notes for other things. I also use the smaller bills for the guagua. Personally, I would never give the conductor anything larger than a 200 note, although I have seen this. You don't want folks to think you are a rich tourist, or rich period, with extra cash.

There is a Banreservas at the left of the exit of the airport before the taxi stand, open Monday to Friday from 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 1 pm. I exchanged $100 in October for 38 pesos per dollar. Next day my exchange at an exchange place was 38. 4 per dollar. There are a couple of booths inside the airport that claims to be commission free but were giving only 32. 5 per dollar. 15% less than regular rate. Avoid those booths.

No, I do not change money at the Santo Domingo airport. As you leave the airport and drive for 1/4 to 1/2 mile or so, you will see a cambio on the left. It has good rates. Your ride will wait for you, do not let the touts try and take you anywhere else. If you are in the Colonial Zone, Frank's on El Conde is the place to go. Tell him that I recommended him, not that it matters, but he likes to know who comes by reference. He is fair and honest, and can recharge your phone as well. He is in the building diagonally across from the Politur station. Both of these guys will give you smaller bills, but you must ask.

Funny. I talked to a chica on dominicancupid. Com. I added her to Facebook. She never asked for money, but one day she wanted me to buy her a cell phone before I go to DR because she claim she doesn't have a cell phone and uses her house phone. Also do they have fairly large currency, I'm bringing 1k and in Phillipines that ended up being quite a large wad of money because I think the biggest bill was like 15-20$ equivalent. Staying at marriot w / casino first night until I get a lay of the land. I hope gambling isn't too corrupt there, I can't play in mexico but love to play in San Jose. It sounds like Santo Domingo is a lot more spread out in terms of mongering action. From a map I saw there is stuff everywhere. Is there that have to go place like Del Rey, or Manilla bay cafe, or Hong Kong bar? If this girl actually shows up then I got to figure out how to keep her occupied while I explore, eh grass is always greener I guess. I'm sure I will have some great pictures to post soon.

I hear these stories about girls all the time, I have honestly never had a girl pull that stuff. Supposedly some girl is meeting me at the airport tomorrow for my premier trip. I cam'd with her and she seems legit. I will be highly suprised if she's actually there though. I don't have any plans to really go searching her out and am going to book it to my hotel and get ready for a monster first night party spree. I think you're better off going in and leaving with no expectations, too many mongers think into things personally if a girl did ask me for money I'd be like letting you hang out with me is better than money, if she doesn't show up she is easily replaced. My favorite was Brazil before I started coming to Santo Domingo, but its much farther and more expensive and now I have just as much fun in the DR and its closer and cheaper and I can go a lot more often. My only expectations is for the Chica regardless if its a regular chica I see often or a chica that will just be a hit is too please me and I have fun with her. That can be achieved by treating them nice with respect and not be a sucker, but not an asshole either. I like mongering like others so I do always give myself some days for that also, but the GFE exp with a motivated chica is well worth it also. I take it on myself to get the chica motivated and it pays off IMO with great rewards. I like that GFE but I treated it for what it is and when I am gone I do not worry what she is doing because I have no control over it. This is my first post. I am new to the boards. Quickly want to thank all the members and old timers for the very invaluable information I have learned on the board.

I ran into one girl that is a scammer. I would avoid her. It started with need money right away for the University. Please send it before you come. This is at my initial talking stage to her. Then asking for me to bring her a cellular phone. It ended with her asking for 5, 000 pesos a day when I am there. Now I already knew better, and reinforced by this board, to never send money in this fashion. Especially with someone I have not even met. We will skip the obvious that we do not even know who is on the other end. I responded to her in a pleasant way that the normal cost of a chica is 1000 pesos a day. I would have even negotiated up to 1500. But her immediate response was," You are stingy, stay with your hookers then." "Pick who you want." I told her OK-ended the chat. Removed her from my DominicanCupid list, from the chat list and blocked her. She is listed as 18 years old with some beautiful pictures. She is listed in Santo Domingo on DominicanCupid as "la sexy". Her nickname is Cassandra. If you use DominicanCupid and see that name and wonderful pictures, avoid her. The rules said not to post links to photos or I would have given the link for you to go.
