Hotel palacio in the historiacal zona is pretty amazing. It is close to banks, markets and restaurants. I booked it on hotwire for 65 bucks. It had a great breakfast buffet and was chica friendly. I had three ladies and had no problems. Many things are in waklking distance 3 blocks from hardrock cafe. 1 block from conle st which has p4p chicas walking all day long. 4 blocks from Pacos now Grands a great place to find willing chicasevery nite.

They just told me I have to pay 15$ additional for an invited guest.

Good post, but I'm over 42 and I love hanging out in Medellin all night long. I don't do the casas, but I like to invite a chica over to play during the day. Medellin is a tale of two cities in one. During the days you have the malls and restaurants plus the metro. At night after 11pm the seedy sex industry comes alive. I don't ever get home before 4 am in Medellin. You need to know Spanish guys. But I'm not recommending Medellin to anyone, everyone please stay in Sosua

I would have to disagree. Cultural idioms and morays have a lot to do with bed performance especially prohibitions of oral v anal. Haitian's in general are a little more passionate than Dominicans especially if they feel a connection. Its kind of either or comparison of a dead ass fish or howling banshee. The reaction is Seldom in between in my travels. Where as Dominicans generally give a steady performance and Brazilians damn near eclipse every race on earth. Not bragging but I ensured I had a large sample size of all kinds of women in which to compare.

Also, the differentiation in the taste of the food is aint even close. Give a Haitian a proper staffed kitchen and watch out.

Survived and having a good time are two different things. Did you get laid and eat well with this budget? This would be a daily expense budget for everything else minus the hotel.

Yes, minus the hotel, you can eat well and have fun in the DR for less than $125 per day. I was in Juan Dolio last week, and it is certainly possible, especially if you meet local girls. Of course, meeting a nice girl who lives in a shack may not be for everyone on this board. It is exciting, though. A local fruit vendor introduced me to his niece, and she was content to take 1, 000 pesos for the night. Dinner was another 250 pesos per person. The guagua was 60 pesos.

Sure but I don't want to ruin the DR forum by talking about Colombia. Just saying the word Colombia brings out the loonies. Also I can only talk about MDE since I haven't been anywhere else in Colombia. Although I have spent a good deal of time researching other options for myself besides MDE.

At the beginning MDE was "my new sosua". Basically it had the same point and click set up as Sosua but with different players (budget casas in my case) and areas with SW's $25 hotels. Sosua got old for me once I moved from Cabarete to Sosua. How many times a day can you walk the main strip and how many beers will taste as good as the first? My days of staying out late are over at 42. I did NYC nightlife for most of my youth and into my young adulthood. Those were the days. These days I hate being stuck in a dark bar.

At least in MDE there was the metro to visit other areas. Although that in itself wasn't sufficient. It gets you to the general area but you still find yourself trying to cross freeways on foot. Visiting MDE is a little more exciting than visiting a Central American city like SJ Costa Rica. There are more areas that you can visit. More bars and more chicas. Prices are very reasonable for sure but that is where it ends for me. I am an explorer and like to walk around checking stuff out. My first trip to MDE was like this then once I covered the centro I was pretty much done. I went to other areas to do the same thing but it just isn't a walking city. The food was bland and pricey. I did manage to get a GFE going with a non pro on one trip but even that had limits. Going on a date in MDE was not that interesting. We hung out with her friends drinking here and there and that was that. The centro closes down rather early so restaurants were hard to come by. The other choices were in Poblado and Laurales which were only a few blocks long. Otherwise you are in a very depressed city with lots of alcoholics who drink day and night.

I got to see a lot of the city and what it has to offer. IMHO it is a decent place to blow a load for a few days and have a few beers. The sessions were decent but the attraction to me was more about pricing than services provided. Again I did have some memorable sessions but I've done just as well in other countries.

Bogota. Altitude issues or else I would try it. The Santa Fe area sounds like my sort of thing.

Cali. Bought a ticket but canceled it afterwards. Why? A few girls I met in MDE told me they come to MDE because Cali is slower paced. I couldn't imagine.

The guys who would enjoy MDE more IMHO are the GFE guys who rent an apartment work the internet and are into putting a little effort into the chica courting aspect of it. I tried a little of that but to be honest colombian women were too smart for me! They wouldn't buy into my BS like Peruvian women do. Also it costs more to do that in Colombia.

I really dig the dominican culture and it has been a while since I have been back. I just can't stomach Sosua anymore. Seeing photos of these dark beauties gets me wet all over.

Interesting. Everyone is singing the praises of Colombia. Apart from the lack of beach in Medellin I haven't heard anything negative. The place doesn't interest me, no haitianas, but I imagine that is not your criticism. Would you care to enlarge on what lacks in Colombia that is not lacking in the DR?

Sun is strong, drank 4 presidentes, it is around 3pm, arrived today, went swimming. The Sea was a dark blue, nice and flat, (view from the highway into santo domingo). I may take taxis later tonight, to avoid any aggravation, with law enforcement, instead of driving the rental car. Seems cleaner here, with less shit box vehicles on the roads.

Several types of Patron tequila at the santo domingo airport for arriving passengers, prices start around $40US.

It seems like rentals are affordable and food depends on where you eat. The chicas is my concern. I've got a little bit of game but nothing that I would plan a sex trip around. I am sure I could rustle up something but that would give me a limit of $50 per session. I'd like to have some money left over to do other things. Taxis would be another expense to be concerned about. It still is not clear if spending a month in SD is suicide or will there be enough things to keep me busy.

Side trips would be + hotel again.

Hey Artisttyp. That is exactly what I am doing. I have rented a condo in SD from the first week in Jan to the first week in Feb. I have budgeted $125 per day over and above the condo (roughly $4000 over 30 days). I have done the same thing previously with the same budget in both PI and Colombia. From what I can tell SD may be a little more expensive, but nothing that can't be compinsated by the odd night of laying low. It's a balancing act of spending enough money to make he holiday worth while, and not so much that you are paying for it long after the holiday is over. Although this is my forst time to the Dominican, I figure this budget should be fine.
