I actually enjoyed the live talent at Jaragua hotel/casino.It was free, not to crowded, and had two hot girls singing.I went with Elizabeth(the big booty girl from previous pics).
The entertainment is good but once you go 3 or 4 times it is just the same old thing. I guess I am more of a plastic chair and table guy.
Yes I too will be in SD 4/24-4/28, flts look ok not many seats though, but I think I can make it. The first few rounds of beers are on me, I will look for you(Joe Roma) at Calmado. My first night I will be hanging out in El Conde Pacos or Hard Rock Cafe with a dom. Chica who I meet on my last trip, she use to work at A-1 Divas she quit and moved to San Pedro. She and her sister are to meet up with me for drinks and whatever happens, she wants me to bring my friend(Jaosousa) with me, she likes how he dances haha. I will PM you my dom. Cell #, I have to find a charger for it. Left my Claro/iphone chargers at Jaguar Hotel, but will hookup it should be fun. Bq Ribs are you in?
A cold Prez always sounds good. The colmado by La Cansona Dorada is a good meeting spot. I should be in SD either that Saturday night or Sunday.
Probably the best map you can get would be from Mapas Gaar.
What I also do is use maps.google.com and print out a small section of the city I will be visiting. This will give more detailed street information, maybe just a 10 block radius per page.
If you are driving and have Garmin GPS this might be a good option. I have purchased the maps and will test them out the first week in May. GPS is great in US cities so hopefully the same will apply in the Dominican. $50 for turn by turn map.
That would really be nice to have somewhere to go to listen to some live music. I would be happy with just some local talent. Jaragua Hotel / Casino Lounge has live entertainment but that place can get boring real quick.

Where can I get a great map to the Dominican Republic? I will bee doing a lot of driving, visiting Samana, Sosua, Santo Domingo and Santiago. So I need a good map I can use in the car.
Thank you
I had two of these maps. The last one was stolen from the outside pocket of my luggage at SDQ airport (why a Dominican would want to steal a map of the Dominican is beyond me).
Laminated Dominican Republic Map by Borch (English, Spanish, French, Italian and German Edition) (Map).
I bought this map at Amazon for around 11 dollars, it is laminated so you can get it wet without it falling apart. It has details of the larger cities including Santo Domingo, Santiago and I believe Puerto Plata.
Yes, I understand no safe is a major negative for most travelers. Some of the rooms have safes but most do not. I use the safety deposit boxes in the lobby for my passport and money. The staff knows me now and they are very friendly to me. Maybe they are just setting me up for the big one. Lol
Jaosousa you always have great advice and if I didn't have a history at La Cosana Dorada I would be following it. I hope to get to meet up with you sometime, as I have never been to Sosua, I don't believe we have meet before or maybe we have, sometimes I get very drunk.
I believe I saw you at the JFK baggage carousel, back in November. I think we were on the same Jetblue flight from SDQ to JFK, arrived around midnight. You went to the baseball game, that I was watching on TV in Docks in the Acropolis Mall (I saw you on TV, just joking). I bet there were some hot chicas at the baseball game.
If you are comfortable and happy staying at the La Casona Dorada, that is good. Good advice, to put valuables in that hotel's safety deposit box. The location of that hotel is good. I know the large colmado on the corner, usually there is a small table outside with chairs and I believe I saw guys playing dominos there. Lots of people walking around or waiting on gua guas on Avenida Independencia there.
They tried to get that bar going. They fixed it up and advertised but, I never saw more than 10 people in there. I'll check it out this trip. I hope to see you on the 25th.

Sorry to disagree with you, but I wouldn't stay there if the rooms were free. No safes in all the rooms is a deal breaker for me.

What's up with the bar at La Casana Dorada? They used to advertise live entertainment on weekends but I haven't seen anything posted lately.

Ok so I have RFF and have just about made up my mind to stay El Embajador as it's chica friendly and apparently per forum "has the best pool in SDQ" (which is where I want to chill) so then I read more about Renaissance Jaragua which a Marriott right? With what looks a great pool, casino with chicas hanging out but is not entirely chica friendly and on the other hand has garden rooms which are not in the main building and therefore possibly easier to get into and avoid security and the attendant walk of shame. But the garden rooms are tired.
I want the best hotel with the best hotel that is chica friendly. Actually doesn't have to be too too friendly; just chica ok; I can give as good as I get!
