A quick 5 minute drive from the airport to the entrance. Set your cruise control on 100-120 kph and smooth asphalt awaits you. Just like zooming down the tarmac at the airport except you are in your rental listening to some bachata or merengue and a Presidente tucked between your legs.

The only stretch of the road where you can not pass a slow moving truck is when driving through los haitises national park. Then again you really don't want to drive too fast as this is really beautiful country.
Thanks man,I feel like someone gave me the secret password to the club house.Nobody talks about this at all. Its as if someone built this road so I will have to visit my isg brother's in SD.

Also any flight info about future flights to this new airport from the US

    It is a New highway.

Lots of big changes in the Las Terrenas area.

A new project with 1500 units. New roads and cruise ship port in Samana.

    They are working fast.
Thanks man, thanks a lot. I am new to the Samana area but am slowly starting to fall in love with the north east. I will be out that way next week. When traveling on the new highway where should I look for signs of the new new highway being built. I can't say enough good words for the SDQ-Nagua road, it is the best!

Keep in mind the new higway is on avenida las americas (close to the airport) in santo domingo este. If you are going to or coming from santo domingo centro add another 30 minutes to this driving time.
We did it on a Sunday so therewas no traffic going into the city. Also no chicas along the highway to waylay us.

I need a little help here. The new highway now goes from SDQ to Nagua, no problem with that. My question is are they building a new highway heading towards Las Terrenas or just doing major repairs and expansion of the existing road?

    yo Somewhat confused.

Koki did Santo Domingo to Sosua in 2 1/2 hours, that is great time. Should be noted that the new highway to Samana has about 20 dollars in tolls and I don't recall seeing any gas stations on that highway.

    Nagua is up by Samana.

    Samana

A few week ago i went to Samana in a Caribe Bus from Santo Domingo on the autopista (2h30). All the way From Sanchez to Samana and to Las Galeras is full of men working to improve the road. good job !! there are nice beaches but no chica for hire. I didn't figure out how to go from Sosua to Samana. So i went back to Santo Domingo (4h30) and then headed to Samana.

What is this chit chat about building a new road from Samana airport to Las Terrenas. Only thing I saw last trip was repair and resurfacing of the existing road.

There is also a lot of much needed repair being done on the road over the mountains to Las Terrenas. No way in this world would I drive on that road at night, no way.
When I drove to Samana, about two years ago, I took the new highway and about 3/4 of the way to Samana, the highway was not finished. Nothing blocking the finished part of the highway from the unfinished part. I was driving at night, I drove on the unfinished part for about 50 feet and made a U-turn and then drove back to a local road where I made a left turn turn, and it was all local roads to Las Terrenas from there. I arrived at the hotel in Las Terrenas around 11pm. I was so happy when I saw the hotel, it was not an enjoyable drive at night on the local roads (especially after not sleeping for 24 hours and arriving that day into DR from the States).

When you drove to Samana was the highway completely finished?
