Same here. Orange won't sell me any more SIM chips. Back in the day, I bought a dozen Orange SIM chips as part of the "Carrot Plan," an extended weekend of sex for a fully functional GD55 Panasonic cell phone.

Now, I use Claro.

Ok so I have RFF and have just about made up my mind to stay El Embajador as it's chica friendly and apparently per forum "has the best pool in SDQ" (which is where I want to chill) so then I read more about Renaissance Jaragua which a Marriott right? With what looks a great pool, casino with chicas hanging out but is not entirely chica friendly and on the other hand has garden rooms which are not in the main building and therefore possibly easier to get into and avoid security and the attendant walk of shame. But the garden rooms are tired.

I want the best hotel with the best hotel that is chica friendly. Actually doesn't have to be too too friendly; just chica ok; I can give as good as I get!

My first visit 2 days only!

I booked through Orbitz a few years ago for the Jaragua, I paid about 112 per night. I checked in alone and I gave them no names of chicas who might visit me. They gave me a room in the garden section. There was always a guard by the entrance of the Garden section, with a printout listing the names of guests staying in that section. On two different days, early in the daytime, I tried to enter my room with two non-pro chicas, the guard said no and the chicas had to wait outside. I have stayed in the tower section and went to my room with a chica one afternoon without anyone stopping me. I was stopped one time at night in the tower section when I tried to enter with a different chica. Jaragua Hotel when I stayed there wanted about 20 dollars for 24 hours of internet service. You can invite whomever you want to hang with you at the pool at the Jaragua, the problem is getting them into your room.

If you will be doing p4p chicas I would not stay at the Jaragua. If you will be doing online chicas, you can give the names of those chicas at check in and those chicas will be able to visit you at the Jaragua. You could also rent a room at the hotel navarro for around 1500 pesos and use that room for sex, while you have your main room at the Jaragua.

Overall I would not recommend the Jaragua for mongering activities.

Hotel El Emabajador (they filmed parts of "Scarface" there) has a big deep pool, with a nice quiet garden around it (also a small building near the pool with a gym and sauna and steam room). Not many guests use the pool. I have a semi-gf who works there, so I no longer stay there, because I don't want her to see me with other chicas. You can make reservations for the El Embajador at the Occidental Hotels webpage. I have seen prices for around 90 per night. If you don't have a rental car, I would probably not recommend el embajador, it is in bella vista, off of avenida churchill, kind of far from gascue. If you really want a good pool to swim in and a quiet pool area to relax then el embajador is good for that. Just know that most of the chicas in gascue will be about a ten minute taxi ride away. When I stayed at Hotel El Embajador they had free wifi internet throughout the hotel. There are working girls on Avenida Sarasota which is the main street near hotel el embajador, some working girls hang around near the lobby and play in the small casino at the el embajador. The small side street directly in front of the hotel embajador has some working girls. If you were to stay at hotel el embajador you would be closer to the chica bar (a-1 divas?) on avenida nunez caceres, near avenida Kennedy. You would also be closer to el penthouse, those two places would be about a ten minute taxi ride from the hotel.

Hotel Napolitano (close to baby dolls and foxys) has a pool on the second floor overlooking the malecon. Hotel Palacio has a small pool with a nice small lounge area around it, where you can take the sun. Hotel Palacio (about two blocks from hard rock cafe in zona colonial) has free wifi internet.

If you use Orbitz, enter promotion code "10FABSAVE" (expires June 30, 2010, for two or more nights) and that will cut 10% off the price of any hotels in DR that appear on orbitz.

Claro was willing to sell me a sim card no problem but would not unlock my cheap Colombian Alcatel phone, so for 600 pesos I bought a cheap phone from Claro,I don't remember how many minutes it came with as I bought 200 pesos worth more on the spot because I knew I had some calls to the states to make.

I was chatting with some chica in msn messenger last week. She has a cam and she had on an Orange shirt and she was working in an Orange shop. I asked her about the chip prices last week. Next time I see her online I will ask her about chip sales to foreigners. None of the phones I have use chips. I know Abr Mainline wanted to buy a chip for his phone, so that is why I asked her.

In Praia no P4P, seems to be mostly young rich dominicans. Stiletto I don't know. There are working girls in Coppa Discoteca and sometimes in Bar Atarazana. Can be difficult at times telling who is just a normal customer and who is a working girl. One night in Coppa I was chatting with an attractive chica, I thought she was just a chica just out for drinks, until she said to me, 4000 pesos.

Cats bar which is on Avenida Gustavo Mejia Ricart is a smal p4p place. Praia is also located on Avenida Gustavo Mejia Ricart. Praia is located to the east of Avenida Lope de Vega and Cats is located west of Avenida Lope de Vega, they are about one block apart.

Cats is a small place on the second floor of a plaza that has other businesses. I believe the neighborhood is called Naco and there are new buildings in that neighborhood, it is a good neighborhood.

Cats I believe is run by a dominican chica, when I met her she had short curly blonde hair. Cats had about 4-5 chicas. In Cats they have a room behind some curtains where you can take a chica for lap dances (semi private or private time with the chica, I don't know how many minutes the 500 pesos gets you in the curtained room, but I am fairly sure you could probably grope and grind the chica in that room) for 500 pesos. I drove to Cats one Sunday afternoon with Abr Mainline and they were closed on Sunday. I would return to Cats.

Can you rent a car at the Sdq Airport? If so, what is the going price a day. Can you drive from Sdq to Pop? If so, how long is the drive and is it easy to get to.

Another member has posted that he paid about 40 dollars per day, paying cash, with adventure rent a car in DR.

There are numerous car rental companies at the airport in Santo Domingo. Alamo/National are partners in Dom Rep. Alamo is open 24/7 at the Santo Domingo airport.

One advantage to using a credit card for a car rental in DR is that most credit card companies will provide coverage for collision/loss damage. If you were to purchase the collision/loss damage insurance from the car rental company, they usually charge about 20 dollars per day for that coverage.

My past trip I used my credit card to rent a car with Alamo and to pay for a room at the Hotel Palacio in Santo Domingo.

I looked at my bank statement online yesterday and there were charges from Mexico (I haven't been in Mexico in over 20 years). Just about every time when I travel to Dom Rep and use my credit card, soon thereafter there are bogus-fraud charges on my credit card. Seems to me that someone in Dom Rep is selling my credit card information to thieves in Mexico, who make a clone of the credit card. Several times charges have appeared for travel expenses, seems the thieves tried to book airline tickets. To me it should be very easy to catch them, because they have to give their real name when they want to buy airline tickets. My bank cancels the card and takes the charges off of my account. But you have to be vigilant about checking your bank statements after visiting the DR.

The drive to Puerto Plata is fairly easy, about 4 hours from Santo Domingo airport, depending on the day of the week and the time of day.

The first time I drove in Dom Rep, I rented a car at SDQ airport and drove to Sosua. (American Airlines had jammed me, by not holding their 40 seat American Eagle turboprop airplane in San Juan for a flight that was less than an hour late coming from Newark. The 40 seat airplane would have taken me to Puerto Plata, instead American flew me into Santo Domingo around 5pm and they left my luggage in San Juan). I rented a mitsubishi small car, around 5pm for the drive to Sosua.

I got lost in Santo Domingo and in Santiago. I finally arrived at the hotel in Sosua around midnight. If you do decide to drive from sdq to pop, study the map and let me know and I will give you some pointers as to make the drive easier.

Thanks for the update. I heard this rumour a few months ago but nice to read the facts. I thought this would no longer be applicable to foreigners since rep dom has an additional area code (849).

All of the major rental car companies are competitive in price. Just be sure to inspect the car. I have rented from Alamo/National, Budget, and Dollar without major problems.

One block from this hotel is the place that sells roast pork, that Bq Ribs recommends, Lechonera Mota (calle canela y calle pina). Foreigners club hotel is on calle canela and calle estrelleta (one block south of park independence).

There are some street walkers near park independencia at night. Don't change money in the street anywhere in Santo Domingo. You can easily walk to Frank's on El Conde (about 3 blocks from Pacos) to change money.

There should be at least one Orange shop in that neighborhood. I asked a chica I know who works in an Orange shop, how much is it to buy a chip for a cell phone in her Orange shop and she told me 200 pesos, with 200 pesos in minutes included.

I don't know if Claro sells chips. If they do, there is a large claro shop about two blocks north of Park Idendependencia. There is a smaller claro shop on el conde.

I made a reservation at the Marriott Renaissance Jaragua and found that they have the following special going on; stay 2 nights and get the third night free. The room is only $88. 00 per night plus taxes/fees so that's only $176. 00 for three nights. Not bad. Just a thought for you all.

The Renaissance Jaragua has a good pool. Garden section rooms are old and dated. Tower section rooms are nicer. The problem with the Renaissance Jaragua is that it is not 100% chica friendly. Sometimes you can get some chicas in, but other times the security will stop you. Not being 100% chica friendly is a problem with the Renaissance Jaragua.

They are building something in the front part of the Renaissance Jaragua. Maybe they are building a disco to compete with Coppa.

When they have concerts at the Renaissance Jaragua, you can see some attractive Dominicanas showing up for the concert.

The night I went to Praia, 500 peso cover charge to enter. No Presidente cerveza. The place was populated with 18 year old light skin Dominicans. Service was good. Very cliquish place. One block over from Praia is cats chica bar. About two blocks from Praia is Stiletto. Stiletto appears to be a normal bar, maybe high end, I didn't go into Stiletto, (seemed to have a bunch of nice cars outside).

Camilo Apt. Hotel/ForeignersClubHotel are both American owned,called them both camilo is soldout 4/24-4/28 only has 5 rooms,so I made reservations at foreigners,they even said they would pick me up at airport($35), room rate $50 a night.
