Every room I've ever stayed in at Cascadas has had a fridge. That's part of what the $30/$50 deposit is for. It's a small see-through fridge. As far as I know, it's standard for even the "basic" rooms at Cascadas to have small refrigerators, even though I'm seeing that's not explicitly stated on the website. But I usually pay for just the "basic" room and have always gotten one.

Where's the fridge located? The room had floating night stands on both sides of the bed, there was also an empty shelf underneath the tv. Is the fridge normally under the TV? If so, it was not there, I just used that shelf to put dirty towels.

I got my $30 deposit back as well, but was not told if I lose the slip, I'd lose the deposit. I just knew the rules from reading the board.

A real scam would be if they took your money or backpack and did not give you a receipt. I have had this happen to me in Tijuana and if you do not have a receipt, you will not get your stuff back, unlike in the USA. Always ask for a receipt in Tijuana when you leave a cellphone or laptop or whatever at a repair shop or leave a backpack in a hotel. Told a newbie last week who I saw left a backpack with the hotel staff this rule but he trusted them and did not go back for a receipt. Told him he was a generous guy. The other HK / Cascadas scam is the paper receipt they give you when you put down a $30 room deposit. It is a handwritten note written in Spanish on some scrap piece of paper. When they give it to you, they shut the fuck up and say nothing. Only upon checking out do they ask for it.
