If you are the strong-willed and assertive type that will stand up for yourself, then you have every right to verbally display your displeasure when being targeted for a blatant ripoff. You might be seen as rude but you'll be respected. I've been going to HK for more than 10 years and I haven't once seen a mesero working the door, much less deny entry to any mongers. You can be rude to the meseros without any repercussions. Just don't be rude to the security guys. The security guys know the meseros are always pulling scams so they almost never take any action against an angry monger. I once almost got into an altercation with that little midget troll-looking mesero, I think he's #54 but I'm not sure. I got right in his face and everything. So he ran and cried to the security guy. The security guy comes and asks me what the problem was and I told him the mesero tried to rip me off. Security says "ok" and leaves.

IMO, what that waiter did was scam a customer. What the OP should have done was to immediately demand to complain to the manager and then go ape shit and demand an apology. HK has a strong control structure. The last thing they would want is a lone wolf scam artist waiter rocking the ship, when the rest is struggling to make a living.

I've been 2 fingers deep a few times on a couch in miami room. I had no problem simply telling mesero to beat it when he went into hawk mode standing right next to couch.

That is too bad, sounds like you were having fun, but at 4 am the mesero saw more time on the girl than dollars in his pocket.
