I exit the van at Revolucion because I typically stay in a hotel in Centro as opposed to the Zona. I check in and dropoff my stuff before heading to the Zona. I like the Zona but I need time away during my trips to Tijuana. I've done the Cascadas, Rizo and Adelitas hotel thing and it's great for bar girl escapades but I've preferred Centro over the last several years so I can have my cake and eat it too. I'm other words, fill up on escorts and make the short walk to the Zona to pop some bar girls.

Once in a while I'll take the HK limo if I see other mongers already waiting or if they're already in the process of pulling out the lot, I dont like riding it solo, otherwise I just take the bus or vans that go to El Centro and leave me those couple blocks away. From there the vans circle back to the border and continue that same loop.

It's literally right on Revolucion, not a block after as you mentioned. If you're walking down Revolucion to get to Zona Norte it's better to get off on that side of the street past the traffic light (vs. Getting off on the side where the Burger King is located) anyway as you'll eventually have to cross the street to get to that side anyway when walking to the clubs.

You can tell the driver you're getting off at Revolucion just to make sure you're getting off at the right place. If you don't know Spanish you literally only have to say "Revolucion" to him and he'll understand where you want to stop. But it's a busy location where other riders in the van tend to get off more often than not so you usually don't even need to say anything. But if you want to make sure just say "Revolucion" to the driver and you should be good.

Who takes their girlfriend to HK? Why would anyone want to drink between HK and the border? They want to pass through Immigration drunk? And drive home drunk?

Who leaves Tijuana with large amounts of cash in their pocket? You bring cash to Tijuana if you want to fuck some ladies, but these guys brought their GFs.

A driver told me revolution is not a stop once. In fact like I said they rarely stop on revolution. If it was really a stop more people would ask for it. Theres often no room for him to pull over. You can ask and it works for you but immjust saying for others, they should expect to be let off one block before which is really a block and. A half before or 1 block after which is really a block then a half block north when he makes the right turn which is where the official bus stop is. I don't carry suitcase so it doesn't make difference to me where he drops me off.

Yeah, I've never had any problems on the rutas either. The people on them have generally been super cool. Although my income bracket has risen substantially over the years, low budget / no frills has always been much more my speed anyway.

Now that I think about it I will say I don't know any chicas who use the rutas. The ones I know all either drive or use taxi / Uber / Didi as transportation. Get the impression that some think they're too good for the rutas. One girl I used to mess with at Adelitas uses Uber to send her kids to school every day. I asked her why doesn't she just put her kids on the ruta route to save money (I've on multiple occasions seen school kids in uniform going to and from school on the rutas which is why I asked). She mentioned something to the effect of the rutas being "very nasty" and that she would never use them, LOL.

    Gracias Caballeros?

Anybody know when this event is? It is pictured as an upcoming event on the HK website, but there is no date attached for when.

This stop, is just as close if not closer to Hong Kong so if you miss Madero stop this one will be fine too. I'd say I've only seen them stop at revolution maybe 10% of the time. Either way personally I would not want to be walling on any street including revolution with a suitcase. You probably won't be robbed but everyone's gonna be looking at you and thinking (tourist / rich gringo / Russian asylum seeker / he about to get robbed).

Yea I love the rutas a great bargain. Just slightly uncomfortable traveling at primetime when you are packed in like sardines.

Main problem I have is the GF is spoiled rotten and insists on uber / didi. I probably spend 1000 pesos a weekend on didi compared to I would probably be spending around 200 pesos using rutas.

It pretty much lead to fights this past weekend as didi kept us waiting long periods of time. With a little cussing mixed in I was like "fuck we could have been home already if we just jumped on a ruta". And her response ohhh noo mucho rateros. I have never had any issues using the rutas.

Yeah, those and the 22.50 peso vans to Rosarito between 3rd /4th and Madero (a couple blocks from Hotel Caesars) are awesome too!

Still trying to learn more about the various bus routes. Basically know how to get from any of my favorite spots in Tijuana (Zona Rio, Agua Caliente / casino area, etc.) back to Revolucion for less than 20 pesos where I can then just walk the short distance back to my hotel in Zona Norte. Saves me some $$$ from having to use Uber or Didi. But not comfortable enough yet getting to a lot of the places I want to go outside of Zona Norte / Zona Centro using the shared vans.

Also not sure yet which van to take to get to Playas. Will have to figure that out on my next trip.

The vans I'm familiar with will take you to Revolucion, from where you can walk a short distance (about a quarter of a mile - 5 minutes or so) to Zona Norte. They will drop you off on Revolucion right next to the Ruta 3 Sports Bar if you're familiar with that bar (Revolucion and Carillo Puerto I think is the intersection). The vans leave once they fill up, which is usually pretty quickly.

I'm guessing there's probably a van that gets you even closer to Zona Norte but I'm not familiar enough with the system and don't know enough Spanish to figure that one out LOL.

Not that I know of. I'd been looking around online and the only thing I could find was this: https://moovitapp.com/index/es-419/t...a-6103-1936103.

But I think that's another bus system (could be wrong).

I have T-Mobile too and have experienced the same problem.

Go to your Settings and manually switch your network from t-mobile to TELCEL or Movistar.

It takes awhile but it should work and help you be able to use Uber.

    Hope this helps.
Appreciate it, will look to try this next time to see if it works! Though using the free HK limo or 10 peso taxi de ruta methods have grown on me and end up being cheaper than Uber with usually less wait time.

2 AM they decided to go home and took a taxi in front of HK to the border. They wanted to drink more, so the cabbie suggested they go to a liquor store. He drove them around in El Centro and bought a 12-pack beers. Cabbie suggested they can drink in his cab no problem, while he drove back to the border and made a couple phone calls.

Cabbie drove them around El Centro a long time, allegedly heading back to the border. Within 5-10 minutes they got pulled over by a Tijuana policias car, charged with drinking alcohol in vehicle. All 4, guys and girls, were made to get out of the cab, spread eagle and searched. They were robbed of all their money, $800-900. Meanwhile the cabbie was not charged. Policias left them $5 to pay the cabbie to drive back to the border.

In this case it was obvious the cabbie set them up with his policias buddies for a quick rob. They could have been in far worse situation, planted drugs, kidnapped, raped, tortured, extorted for more money, if the criminals think they are rich and can pay big ransoms.

There are a lot of evils lurking in drug cartels' border towns, including any random cabbies, waiting to victimize the unsuspecting. A lot of local people can hardly scratch out a living in Tijuana, may have ties to drug cartels, and will turn to crime when having opportunities. In the past Tijuana cabbies have staged large demos, blocking roads and traffic in downtown. There are now reports cabbies in Cancun are harassing, blocking, beating up UBER drivers and riders. Tijuana cabbies will be assaulting UBER and LYFT drivers soon.

Safer to take UBER or HK's limousines. Only ride with known reliable people.
"Cabbie suggested they can drink in his cab no problem". LOL. No sympathy for your friends sorry. Not sure what universe where they thought drinking alcohol as passengers in a taxi in a foreign country where they don't know the laws was a good idea. They may have been "set up" but technically they were guilty as accused of drinking alcohol in the vehicle so put themselves in that situation. But the story overall sounds suspect. Are there liquor stores even open past 2 am in Tijuana? I thought alcohol sales shut down no later than midnight outside of clubs? What liquor store in El Centro sells packs of beers after hours? I'll make sure to stop by on my next trip if you know the name or location of the place.

But potential situations like this are one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to engage with anyone in Tijuana other than the chicas. Some random dude I was chatting with briefly in HK a couple years ago invited me to go to some other club he was about to head to that night to try and pick up some women. I'm like this guy barely knows me so why would he invite me out and why would we need to go to some other club to pick up women when we're already here in an HK club beyond packed with chicas?

Yup having your own room is a game changer. If you get a cool chick they're sort of a little bit more relaxed and aren't worried about looking at the clock. One girl even mentioned it was her first time being in a private room, she thought it was cool. I had to explain to her how to get back down to the club.

When you’re at HK without a room and things are slow you’re sort of forced to wait around for something good to pop up or go kill time going in and out of the other bars, mostly it’s just a waste of time. When you have your own room you can just go relax for a while and watch tv or even take a nap then head back down an hour or two later when there are more options. I recommend getting one even if you’re not planning to stay overnight and just a few hours. It’s worth it IMO.

I went a long time without getting my own room but was swayed to start getting one when my main HK girl’s stalker ex boyfriend would follow her after her shift was over. She was afraid to go to other hotels because he would follow her so she said she only felt comfortable at Cascadas since they know about her situation and he’s banned from there.

Hey buddy, some of us like the stories exaggerated or not. Also its a accurate warning of the potential when dealing with anyone in Tijuana offering you drinks drugs or woman. Its always bad news to have anyone find any of those things for you.
