Topo Chico / Good Mineral Water

I'm excited, but just a little apprehensive too. Quit drinking 2 1/2 years ago and I'm wondering how this will change things. Loved sucking back Polars in HK surrounded by sexy chicas. I expect it to feel much different this time being sober, but I hope it doesn't spoil it. I associated heavy drinking with fun for all of my adult life.

For anyone in a similar circumstance, what do you order? Is their coffee any good? Do you just have sodas? Fruit juice? How do the pesky meseros treat you? Wondering if I'd fit in better during the relatively sedate late morning / early afternoon hours than trying to hang late night?

Anyone care to share their personal experience or thoughts about this?
I still drink beer most every evening with my dinner however I cut back last year eliminating unnecessary alcohol after I eat and replacing with Topo Chico since I love the carbonation feeling going down my throat like a beer. I never day drank and even when on vacation or in HK (better than a vacation) only start to drink after 7 P or 8 P and just light beers not too heavy with alcohol. Now when I return to San Diego or Imperial Beach I like to hang out in a bar and have a couple or few more light beers to celebrate my whoring for the day!

HK has a good mineral water in a can.

    I don't drink alcohol.

I have an awesome time in the club and great sessions in the room. With full awareness and full appreciation.

I often get the cranberry drink or sometimes plain water. As needed.

Summary. HK club experience and room experience are amazing.

But, I cannot compare how it compares to the experience with drinking because I never drank alcohol. I have always been repulsed by the taste of alcohol.

3 years ago hk gave me a gigantic orange juice when I ordered orange juice. It was probably 36 ounces, the same one oxxo sells. I personally would order that but I do see the way the bottle of h20 turns the mesero away. I unfortunately don't even get drunk any more. I used to walk into HK, by my 2nd beer in 25 minutes I was feeling good. I don't even drink more than 2 nights a week and never in the day. I have to have 5 beers to feel anything. What I miss when not in Cali and also miss in HK is weed. I just started a year ago and like it better than drinking now.

When I'm on the wagon, I drink water. (That's why it's sometimes called the "water wagon".).

When I enter a bar, I sidestep the meseros and head straight to the bar, where my bottle of water can cost as much as, or a bit more than, a beer. The meseros never hassle me, and the water tastes so boring that one bottle lasts longer than I ever stay in any particular bar.

    Teetotalling mongers, What's it like?

    Centurion,

If you decided to quit alcohol, it's good not getting back in it. Quitting is easy, I quit almost every week hehe. I would have a beer to have fun with the bro then cannot stop. Sucking down beer after beer all night does make hanging out fun, exciting and happy, but may cause erectile problems in bed.

HK does not serve coffee. Meseros would have to go to Azul for the weak mixed instant. It's bad for your health to suck down any of those sugary soft drinks, raising sugar and triglyceride levels in your blood, causing diabetes, strokes, heart attacks.

Nobody cares what you drink in the club. You don't have to show bravado knocking down shots after shots of hard liquor to have fun like groups of young guys. Many guys just order a bottle of water or juice. The orange juice is huge, fresh and natural, $5 for 22 Ozs. Tell the meseros to bring a glass with ice and it would last you all night.

The pineapple juice is also good. Pineapple and papaya extracts are used in meat tenderizers, sure make meats tender and juicy, potentially their natural ingredients have medicinal properties that can soften and dilate blood vessels, make them more flexible, clean out the arteries and prevent a number of cardiovascular diseases. A few guys swear these juices, including celery, boost their libido for multiple sessions a night.

Bottled water. Meseros will treat you fair just like any other customer. They will try to rip you off blind. But now that you are sober, you won't feel as happy when you get ripped off.

Makes me even happier I'm off the booze if stuff like this is happening in HK clubs. There was a similar report of something like this happening across the street at Tropical.
I don't see the profit in spiking random clients' drinks. But I wouldn't put it past any of the ZN bars to sell adulterated or counterfeit liquor. I remember a couple years back the slew of tourists getting sick or getting dead after drinking liquor in some all-inclusive resorts. I've read about shipments of counterfeit Jack Daniels being seized in Thailand. So, on the very few times I visit a ZN bar I drink beer that is opened in front of me. I save the cocktails for higher end restaurants and clubs far away from the ZN.

I would also assume it was spiked. There's a sizable difference between a hangover, even from the cheapest tequila and getting roophied.

It is concerning. I've heard enough stories about Tropical to believe it's true. When I drink there, I order directly from the bar. Until these stories go away, my next visit to HK will start with me ordering a bottle of tequila, opened in front of me.

The only issue though would be to assume it is the mesero. We all know certain chicas have very good working agreements with certain meseros. So best to be aware.

I rarely drink alcohol in Tijuana. When asked why not, I reply "Whisky Dick. " Of course I convey it to the putas in less vulgar terms. I usually have Red Bull or Cola or Agua Mineral. Known meseros often greet me with their nickname, "Agua Mineral. " Nobody is offended as long as you tip when served. I have seen too many young power drinkers miss opportunities. My goal in Tijuana is to pound as many putas as many times as my aging body will withstand, plus two.

You will have more fun sober, so party on and enjoy yourself. And your memories that will be a lot sharper the next day.

My working theory is nothing repels meseros more than a monger sitting with a bottle of water.

I generally do not drink during the day. But on the rare instances I'm in HK during the day time, until I get a bottle of water, they swarm. Once I have water, they disappear. Lasts longer than a shot of Patron. Less tips for them I suppose.

As to your larger point, congrats on your sobriety. I imagine this will be a challenge. For me, I do associate HK with excessive drinking. LOL Interestingly, I very rarely drink in my "real life."

If the tequila does not say "100% Agave" on the bottle, it is mixed with other ingredients and this is what causes a headache.

BTW report these kinds of things to management. Other clubs like Chicago and Adelitas do not give a f but HK is super serious about protecting their customer revenue.
I drink very slowly in -general, but the two beers over 90 min would have hit before the shot did on the way out the door. I mean, they also open a fresh beer at the table in front of you.

    Low quality grain alcohol

Don't know what Teq brand you bought. If you just order a tequila shot, meseros will bring the cheapest brand, Jose Cuervo Especial, $5 a shot in HK, $10 a fifth in store. It has certain chemicals that will give you headache, thirst, hang over, stomach ache, some time complete pass out until you drink it often enough for your body to get used to and can resist those chemical allergies.
Jose Cuervo is very low quality tequila, as you mentioned, it is not 100% agave. There are tequilas that are even cheaper than JC and seem to be almost pure grain alcohol. For example, I can handle my tequila, but a shot or two of the free "tequila" offered at the door of the other clubs will mess me up completely. Perhaps to save on costs, HK has started using this extra low quality tequila when a customer does not ask for a specific brand of tequila. Best to always ask for your favorite brand so you will know instantly after you taste that you did not get what you asked for.
