I'll share my experience, but with a caveat.

Like you, I don't need it usually. I sometimes take it for quality and confidence. I'm in my mid 40's. When I do use V, there have been rare occasions where I am ready to go immediately. That would never happen for me without it. But more often than not, it does decrease the refractory period. I would say no more than 10 minutes, long enough for a shower.
