I know of girls who are in their late 30's early 40's who still work and and started in their 20's. I believe its very on and off for them. When theres no other line of work where else are they going to go. The smart ones save and start a business so they can get out. Most BGs don't have that level of foresight though.

HK wasnt always as big as it is though. I bet there was girls who started of decades ago at CC or AB and are still going.

But a lot of times the customs officials shake pedestrian tourists down for $30 (or $20) and in a lot of those instances don't even give them an FMM they just let them go through and enter Mexico.

When you do the online FMM it does seem to greatly decrease the chance you get shaken down for $$$ (assuming you have a valid passport). But do understand $30 isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things LOL.
I agree. You can "do it" online, or feel you will get somewhere "explaining" this at the border.

You pick the amount of aggravation in your day.

I've never had to do either, I drive across.

I fail to understand the actual problem.

"I'm going to mexico" should ring in your head that here and there, you're getting fleeced for a few dollars. Smile and tell the story later.

Avoiding $30 FMM fee for entry to Mexico

    Rambo,

I am with you. We should never let any stupid bullies rob us, even if we can afford it. Don't be a weak fool and let riff raffs abuse you. You should resist and fight back. Point out to them where are are wrong. Take down their names, date, time and details and push your grievances. That's the only way we will see any improvements and progresses.

3 of us crossed on foot Sunday afternoon 2 PM. There were 3 Mexican Imm guys manning the line, only a dozen people in front. 3 of us showed them passports with no FMM and were waved thorough quickly, but they took a gringo into the room, likely trying to rob him. He did look scared in front of them.

In front of the parking lot, a Mexican guy proposed to drive us over for $60, claiming he would save us money. We just told him to get lost.

On the way back we took HK's limo. It parked next to the pedestrian path, still a good walk. We tipped the driver $4, he seemed happy. The car was parked for 8.5 hours. They charged us double $26 for parking. Damn. We could have parked for free at the trolley stop and ride it back.

Ignore the replies that wrote stay home if that is a problem. We have a right to be careful with money even if we CAN afford it.

Fill out the form at this site & print it and bring it with you: https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/en/solicitud.html.

It worked during my last two trips. No hassle and it also saves them when crossing since there nothing else to fill out.
El Chaparral is the name of the land Port of Entry to select on that form if you're crossing from the US into Tijuana.

Avoiding $30 FMM fee for entry to Mexico

How to I enter Mexico without having this fee charged? I would rather stick this $30 on a beautiful Latina ass.

    Any info would be appreciated.

When was the last time you crossed? They technically "re-opened" the border last November. If you tried to cross prior to that during COVID you technically were supposed to have an "essential" reason for crossing the border. (If you didn't they nearly always let people cross anyway if they were willing to pay a $20 or $30 "fee" which customs officials often pocket themselves.) Crossing to visit a sick friend wouldn't qualify as an essential reason. Also, most of those officials are experienced enough to ascertain who's being truthful and who's not. For example, if you were trying to cross late on a weekend night, dressed like you were about to go to a nightclub, and you're claiming to be crossing for one night just to "visit a sick friend", chances are they won't believe you LOL.

Yes, filling out the FMM online beforehand greatly increases the chances they won't try to solicit the $20/$30 "fee" out of you. Customs officials greatly prefer to prey on inexperienced tourists (of which there are plenty every night); taking the time to complete the FMM online beforehand is evidence that you're an experienced border crosser which makes it much less likely that they'll pick on you.

Didn't they give you a little piece of paper with the Mexican flag on it? That's an FMM and is good for 180 days. If your previous trip was less than six months ago, just take that paper, hold it up and walk through the Nationals line. If you no longer have it, and $30 is a problem, as Mr. Speed said, stay home.

Sometimes you won't be approached to pay it (as required) and sometimes you won't be. Because they're being lazy.

If that $30 is a financial barrier, stay home. You can't afford it.

If you paid for the $30 FMM then you should still have the paperwork and that FMM should allow you to walk right in for the next 6 months without being bothered.
