AFAIK Tropical's general manager is a huge, pear-shaped guy. He sits in the corner office near the dancing floor and has a couple floor managers roam the bar. Tropical's meseros have always tried to short change and the girls jack prices on customers. It's a sleazy bar, very doubtful any miracle could happen there. Their only management principle is to make sure all workers understand, they will lose their jobs if they break rules, and they will get whacked if they get caught stealing from the boss.

Despite a bare-bone organization with almost all workers living off tips, HK runs a nice, clean. Smooth, fun, sexy, efficient, fast-paced, uninterrupted and highly profitable operation 24/7/365. These guys can teach at the Harvard's MBA school. If more US businesses know how to make such high returns on so little equity, America will be Great Again!

There were no parade, no floats on the dates suggested by a few web sites not related to city hall. There were no official announcements by city hall, so the festivities were not organized and did not take place. Blame it on the fake internet. I reported in more details in the Ensenada's thread.

A Carnival cruise ship docked at the malecon and another ship docked at the cruise terminal, but it was very odd that the city was pretty much deserted compared to previous years. There were virtually no cruise passengers walking the malecon and the tourist shopping district. I was there just last year. There were hundreds if not a thousand or more cruise passengers everywhere, shopping, eating, drinking. This year failure may be caused by a combination of rain, cold weather and the fear of CoronaVirus.
