Agree on all points raised on the current Tijuana. I for one am not making a special trip all the way from Canada to Tijuana, I would never do that especially since I think it is generally well accepted that on the global scale for the monger world, Tijuana does not even come close to any of the top destinations (Thailand, Philippines, Columbia, Brazil, Germany, etc.). Heck, if you were to compare the Tijuana escort (outcall) rates, I would put Montreal ahead of Tijuana anytime.

For me, I'm passing through San Diego in September so since I'm going to be in the area anyway, a quick stop to Tijuana is better than nothing. But for a stand alone monger trip, yes, there are many other places worldwide way better than Tijuana on all counts (girls, safety, entertainment, costs).

Thailand is no longer the bargain it once was. The P4 P scene dwarfs most other places, but these days it's poor value and less-than-attractive girls. $100 short-time liaisons are hardly a reason to spend $1,000 on airfare and 21+ hours in travel time. I go every year, but the bars are no longer the reason. Hell, in April I walked by Morning / Night in Soi Nana in the afternoon. I kid you not, working there, waiting for customers, were 2 or 3 grannies. I don't mean women in their 30's, I mean women whose 50th birthday was a memory. That sort of thing was unimaginable just a few years ago.

In Tijuana, as well as Thailand, the best scene, IMHO, are the independents. Freelancers who may have other employment but who like to make a little something on the side. You meet them via Craigslist, or on-line "dating" sites. Much more fun, much better value than ridiculously-priced escorts.

If one has to fly for hours to get anyplace, then Tijuana is probably not good choice for an extended vacation. But if one is strictly going for the women, BKK isn't such a great choice anymore, either. If you live in the Midwest or east coast, Colombia is probably best these days.

I'm now reaching a point myself. I have been doing this for years now and have grown to love other latinas particular in south america. The chicks aren't as hot and the quality has slipped down a couple of notches in Tijuana AND the almost the same cost to get a hooker in the states as well. I'm planning to visit the FKK in September myself right before I return from my annual 3 month stay in MDE. A buddy of mine swears by it. I've been lucky the past couple of months to be able to pull off a couple of girls from the bars where I no longer pay for the ass. I tend to frequent the regular bars with these girls and have more fun. At the end of the day, I still get my dick milked by the ladies and no more knocks or sausage fest nights in HK. On a side note, when you frequent the river side, there arent that many cops like there is at the zone and revolution. Plus the taxi drivers are not trying rip me off for rides back to the border. A guy was shot in the face and the chest 1/2 block away from HK and I was shaken down and bribed for $100 USD. I grew up in south Boston so I understand tough cities so don't even start down that path with me. I've seen a lot of fucked up stuff.

Here's the deal. The policia are fucking corrupt assholes. Not nice at all. The bullets are flying. Girls are NOT as hot as once upon a time. I took my own advice and visited Panama city. NO corrupt Policia doing shakedowns and HOT columbianas and cubans. The Panamanians. Meh. Then last week I went to Frankfurt for some Sauna club action. Picture this in terms of HK. You pay $80 entry fee. Then you get all you can eat (breakfast, luinch, dinner) and all you can drink. Full access to ameneties. There are at least 50 hot east european chicks that walk around fully naked. Except for heels. 50 euro ($55) to go to room for half hour. NO ROOM CHARGE and NO BULLSHIT. No shootings! Tijuana. I am done with you. To fucking dangerous to me and my life is worth more than that.

No flames here, Mr. H. Everybody has their own comfort zone.

As I've said many times, despite what some say, the Zona Norte is a dangerous place packed with Riff-Raff. It can also be a lot of fun, but you must keep your wits about you.

I've never been, but the FKK clubs sound like a great bargain. Maybe not my cup of tea, but I can certainly see the attraction. Unfortunately, that sort of venue would be illegal in most places, even those (like Mexico) where prostitution is legal. So, we may have a bit of apples-and-oranges here. Not criticizing, just observing. We're comparing a venue of good value, in a place where it's legal, to a Tijuana clip joint. And that is what HK has become.

Years ago, the ZN was a simply a collection of dumpy bars. HK was a shabby little place, a fraction of its current size. All the glitzy clip joints were up on Revu. Strip shows, $10 ficha drinks, creative ways of parting you from your money. But those places were slightly "nicer" than the bars in the Zona and were far more accessible to the casual tourist. Few survived the post-9/11 debacle and the recession of 2008. Didn't Peanuts and Beer just close their doors a few weeks ago? One of the last hold-outs.

Well, those Revu clip joints are a distant memory. But their legacy lives on in HK. It has become a slightly flossier version of the traditional Tijuana clip joint. $5 beers? $8 fichas? $100 half-hour sessions? Seriously? Unfortunately, yes. No Mexican has ever gone broke overestimating the shit a gringo will put up with if you dangle pussy in front of him. HK has morphed from a "low-key" rather fun establishment with girls with good attitudes (anybody remember Anthrax?) to a classic Tijuana rip-off bar.

My point is that HK is a terrible value now, and if one compares it to just about any other venue, that other venue will come out on top every time. About the only equivalent I can think of offhand would be the strip clubs in San Jose, CR, where it's really easy to blow several hundred dollars on ficha drinks alone, let alone the cost of the girl.

As far as fun in the ZN goes, I think most other places are better value for money. I've yet to have a bad session in CC, although it's hardly what you would call a happenin' joint these days. Tropical has cuties, Playboy has its own set of attractions (if you're a bit of an exhibitionist), and gems can be found in all of the smaller joints.

But, as Mr. Beach points out, it's much more fun outside of the Zona these days. There are all sorts of ladies willing to have an apoyo economico "relationship" with a gringo. If you start to hang out in local venues you'll realize how badly the customers in the ZN are treated and you'll have fewer run-ins with Tijuana's finest.

So, at least for me, the ZN is OK in small doses. It's certainly not the be-all and end-all of the P4 P scene in Tijuana. As for you, Mr. H, try expanding your hunting grounds a bit. If you like Zona-style bars, go to La Cueva del Peludo. The beers are 21 pesos, although I think the fichas are the same price as the ZN. But the attitudes are much more relaxed, you won't have to fend off pesky meseros, and there are lots of pretty chicas. Go early on a Saturday or you'll never get a table.

By Mexicos' laws HK is not a brothel. It's just a bar for guys to meet chicas.

The chicas are not HK's employees but are more like freelancers. They have a lot of freedom what they want to do and with whom they do it with. The bar legally has nothing to do with any sex activities that the chicas pursue. Guys, who go to the bar frequently and become friends with the chicas, have all sorts of kinky sex with them. But you have to be very familiar with the chicas to get good sex.

Got to admit Tijuana chicas can't act and their service is pretty poor, unless you look like a movie star and spend lots of money on them. I know guys who spent their fortunes on fichas for girls to get the GFE, which is dumb.

OTOH I know quite a few gringos who got bar girls to be their GF's, some even had children and settle down in permanent relationships. I also know a few girls who got pregnant, got dumped by the gringos, took their babies home to their mamas and left the business. Perhaps they too are capable of falling in love with their clients.

Compared to Germany or Brazil, the sex industry in Tijuana seems to be disorganized and loosely managed by amateurs, chicas are untrained, undisciplined and a lot of them don't stay long in the business.

Having been to both, I tend to stick almost exclusively to FKKs in Germany. By the time I add up all the costs for getting over to Tijuana and the higher hotel costs there and everything else, the price savings that Tijuana offers is quite minimal, if any, after they nickel and dime you to death.

The hourly price is slightly higher in Germany, but the service is way better and more consistent over there, at least for me, when comparing to the HK girls. Granted, most of my HK girls gave me good service when I was there, but CBJ in HK seems to be standard whereas CBJ is not even offered in FKK-land (BBBJ is standard unless you request CBJ in which case the girls might look at you funny wondering what your deal is).

I realize everyone is attracted to a different type, but for me, the Eastern European hotties are out-of-this-world. I struggle to find Latinas to go to the room with.

Good advice. I'm from Canada and plan to get pesos here before I come. This way, I won't have to change Canadian dollars to US dollars and finally to pesos. I will avoid the upcharge involving the US dollars altogether. Will bring enough pesos to pay for everything from girls to food / drink to even hotel (although I don't know how the Cascadas charges in pesos).

For most of year 2014, HK and their 'family' of related businesses (LC, BT, Rizo de Oro & Cascades) used a house exchange rate of 12 pesos for one dollar. Late in year 2014 the real daily market exchange rate between dollars and pesos moved from around 12.5 or 13 to nearly 15 to 1. HK and their related family businesses responded by changing their tipo de casa (house exchange rate) up to 13 pesos for each dollar. Their 'in house' exchange rate has remained at 13 to 1 through all of year 2015 and is still in use today. So if you order a $4 cerveza in HK, LC or BT and pay in pesos, the charge will be 52 pesos before tip. And $8 ficha drink for a chica will cost 104 pesos before tip.

At the front desk of Rizo de Oro and Cascades the room costs are posted in dollars (see my picture of the December 2014 rack rates posted on Cascades' front desk counter) and they are currently also converted to pesos at the 13:1 tipo de casa rate. So a $70 room will cost 910 pesos. When you check in also expect to pay 100 pesos refundable deposits each for your room key, television remote, & safe key.

It will be much cheaper to pull your pesos from the ATM in Mexico than the fees your bank charges you. You can get an even better rate by using a bank debit card that charges 0% foreign transaction fees. Just make sure you raise your daily ATM withdrawal limit and put in a travel advisory before your trip. Yes, you will want to bring enough pesos for your first taxi ride, etc because you don't want to use the ATM at the airport.

The other side of the coin regarding high price is that it attracts a lot of new girls into becoming putas from all over Mexico. It's like the modern gold rush where prospectors hearing of riches flooded into mining towns trying to pan for gold. Similarly, the chicas hear about getting easy $60 to $80 for a less than 30 minute bang in the room and they're thinking they can make hundreds a week, or thousands a month compared to their minimum wage reality in Mexico.

In reality, the new and pretty chicas will make the "big" money early on, but she quickly loses her popularity as the constant onslaught of new girls come in to take mongers' attentions. Also, ficha requirements can gradually cause weight gain that make these chicas undesirable.

The price point in HK Tijuana is moderate, priced to what the market will bear. Still affordable to the average Joe, which represents the biggest volume of the market, and who only makes a trip to Tijuana once a week.
