I have to agree with this. Latinos expect to bargain; it is a part of their culture. Americans appear afraid to bargain, as part of our culture with a few exceptions. You have to think of her as a HEAVILY used car. Nobody in America pays sticker price for a used car.

And I can confirm that paying too much makes you look stupid in the eyes of the Mexicans. I was in a club with an ATF that I took to Ensenada. As we were leaving, the mesero blocked my path and asked for a tip. I had been tipping him when he brought us drinks, so it was hardly deserved at this point. "What for?" I asked. "For the service," he replied. I gave him a dollar to get him out of my face. Yeah I know, it was a mistake. My ATF said, "Did you give him a tip? What are you, stupid?" (Her English wasn't that great, but she had those phrases down.) That lesson only cost me a dollar.

So I went down to Tijuana with my quasi-wingman for a two-week stay in Tijuana from Christmas Eve, 12/24 through Monday, January 7th.

Our original plans were to stay the entire two weeks at the HDS (Hacienda de Santiago) but I got kicked out after one week and then stayed at the Leyva the second week (that's a story for another post).

I came armed with a bunch of HK coupons instead of buying the HK VIP card.

During the two weeks I used four of the buy one / get one drink tickets with no problems-just handed the coupon to the Customer Service clerk where he / she confirmed the type of drink I wanted as they processed the coupon with some additional paperwork they then stapled to it, so that it could be handed to either a bartender or mesero to complete the 2 for 1 offer.

On Christmas day I used a different coupon to get two free drinks. That same coupon also entitled me to a free appetizer, but I received no food since Azul was closed on 12/25.

QW and I also enjoyed using two identical "Buy one appetizer, get one free" coupons a couple of days apart. Using that type of coupon had a few surprises for us.

I just finishing, I trip to HK and Tijuana. As always great time. Had a 2 girls, Saturday night, paid one of my girls $250 and we went clubbing in Tijuana, great time. Finished and she said she want to be with another girl, back to HK. I tried to get her in, but the manager would not let her into HK, without paying $300, so we went to Azul, got one of the staff to go get us a girl and the rest is History, 2 girls 90 minutes of fun.

Sunday she came and hung out with me at the Grand Hotel for a couple of hours.

Monday, during the day, had a girl meet meet the Grand Hotel, we agreed on $150, for 2 sessions. Made the mistake of paying upfront. She made excuse and left, just one session, but I needed to get back to work any way, I always pay up front, most of the times, no issues, bu this time, was burned.

Monday night went back to HK, met girl total GFE experience, was awesome.

I hear people complain about HK all the time, if you take advantage of the coupons, get a VIP Card, and rent the room for the night, it will be amazing night. No one knocks on the doors. Also, just buy drinks directly from the Bartenders upstairs, this eliminates most of the issues, 95% of do not even deal with the waiters, most of the time they just [CodeWord140] me off, so why bother. You can even buy girls drinks from the bartenders upstairs. Also, take girls to AZUL you can drink and eat with them for half the price, maybe even less, great experience.

Side note I left my Credit Card at the front desk, by mistake. Walked to the Casino, came back a couple hours later, the manager had it, no issues.

Monday night used my VIP card, got a room on the 8th floor real, nice, but was tired and I need to wake up early for work Tuesday, just used it for one long session. As I was getting my deposit back, a guy was reserving a room, he paid, I think $45 or 50, he would have almost paid for the VIP card at that moment, but who is counting.

How would any thieves tell that you were carrying any more than the typical tourist? They waved me right through at the border and I had absolutely no problems.

I understand the recommendation here would be to Uber or Trolley to PedWest, cross on foot, then taxi to HK. My concern with that idea is: I'll be traveling with legal prescription drugs, and also lots of cash. I do not speak Spanish. I am worried about the safety of "crossing the bridge" and the Rateros and Policia. I'd like be crossing after dark in the late evening. I just don't want to deal with the risk of an encounter with the Policia.

In addition to the "processing" done in HK's Customer Service, that particular coupon also had to be initialed by a HK manager.

When we used the first of these BOGO Appetizer coupons, we noticed that the Azul menu had no Appetizer section. It was explained to us that the coupon was good for 2 for 1 full meals.

QW simply went down into HK and got a manger's signature without buying drinks in HK.

When we were ready a few days later to use another of these coupons, I first had us use a 2 for 1 drink coupon down in HK to get two pineapple juices. The mesero delivered two one-liter cartons of pineapple juice for 100 pesos and the manager's signature on ort BOGO appetizer coupon. We were allowed to leave HK with our pineapple cartons to take directly upstairs to Azul.

Clamslammer is correct. It is the meseros that are watching you as soon as you sit down with a girl. They lift the beer or glass even though you can clearly see it is still half full.

The profit margin on a ficha is big and the meseros are there to push it. Some girls will drink slow, some gulp but they will all have to drink if they are at a table with you.

It depends on the chica. The chicas that I drink with, they drink slowly. I'm there normally every weekend so I know my share of chicas. Your idea might work, but talk to them first. Good luck!

I wish I was as lucky as you to be there every weekend. I'm jealous! I am only able to make it once every three months but my next trip is just two weeks away on Sunday, 1/27. Hopefully I'll find a slow drinking hottie that doesn't stand firm on $100 usd to go upstairs which I refuse to pay.

After the first ficha, has anyone ever tried slipping a chica 100 pesos under the table with the understanding that you want her to continue to sit with you but no more fichas will be ordered? She'll make three fichas worth of money and you'll save too.

This doesn't work. If a chica sits too long without a ficha, a mesero will eventually tattle to one of the managers, who will then come and demand you buy a ficha or relocate the puta if you refuse. The only exception will be if you sit next to her at one of the bars. Meseros will still bother you but since it's not "your bar" she'll get to sit next to you without buying fichas. If you're at a table, forget it a manager will eventually come by and spoil your plan.

Took a limo from Tijuana to the SAN AP once. The driver made me get out at the border, walk across, and he met me on the other side, so what did I gain? Just a more expensive ride. If you take the trolley, walk across, and take a cab to the Zone, it is as safe as anywhere else. I was there Tuesday and did this without any problem. The safety issue is blown out of proportion.

Yeah, that's a waste if they driver makes you walk through, LOL.

Yes. Cab drivers know "Hong Kong" in every language.
