The whole HK / Cascadas VIP thing is kind of bogus. Anyone can print the coupons off HK website, and get most of the same discounts without actually staying there. I have been doing that forever, and never stayed at Cascadas once. I guess the only thing you really save is $18 room fee, but then you're limited to HK chicas.

For me personally. While I don't mind fucking girls at Cascadas. I find staying there kind of gross. I much prefer Centro hotels, like Ticuan or Ceasar's. Short 10 minutes from the Zone, but a world apart from the noise, cops, drunken mongers and the street bums. Also way better food options than Azul and street taco carts.

Point being. Don't limit yourself to the Zona and HK / Cascadas on your next trip. There is way way more than Tijuana has to offer! Great reports otherwise.

Hong Kong is amazing, but def check out the periphery. The other bars can be quite fun too. A little cheaper, maybe tier 2 or 3 chicas. But fun for a break from HK!

Day 2, New Year's Eve:

I spent the day walking the streets of Tijuana. Tijuana has some quaint alleyways with churches and eateries dotting the streets. I wouldn't call it the most beautiful city, or anywhere close, but there is a certain charm to the surroundings, and if you have some time to walk around between your horndog shenanigans, I always advise getting to know any city you're in a bit better. If anything, it gives you some alibis to bring back.

There is a sign on HK's front door stating VIPs benefits, others by asking the CS rep. VIP card $50 good for 4 months:

Free pick up and return at border or $5 taxi refund if limo / van not available, or.

Free parking at Pepe's, worth $15 to $20 over night.

Free drink of your choice every 12 hours, any beer, juice, tequila, cognac, whiskey, vodka or mixed drinks.

Free use of VIP lounge on HK's 2nd floor. Guys usually take a girl and buy her a bucket so they won't be disturbed.

Free entry all night with no hassle to buy cover beer and min or no security pat down.

80% room discount on Monday and Tuesday at Cascada.

20% room discount on all other nights.

30 VIP minutes in ST rooms instead of the standard 20 minutes with street girls.

If you can think of other perks befitting VIPs, please suggest them to management.

Lots of new girls from big cities like Monterrey and Mexico City will quote their standard $100, but they know there are plenty other fish in the HK sea and will usually go with your target rather than losing a session. So do what locals do and stick to "1 mil pesos con propina para servicio bueno" and give her 200 -400 pesos more if she's a honey and her service is good. (That's $55 with $11 to 22 tip at current exchange). If the girls lose a few sessions, they will learn not to be so stuck up and adjust their rates.

I agree nobody should give money to beggars, which would just create more beggars. If I see hungry children around the taco carts, I would buy them tacos, not giving them money so their parents can buy meth.

Would recommend avoiding giving money to homeless when in third world country. From my experience it doesn't change people's lives and it likely will result in you being an easy target for other homeless and beggars to swarm you including the one you gave to. As well as other unscrupulous people.

Great trip report. Really covered majority of bases. Sorry you had bad supply issues. I'm curious if Chicago or Adelitas had similar issues, Adelita quality isn't HK but there is a huge quantity there.

I always hear Medellin is quite dangerous but unsure how true. How does it compare to Brazil in Rio or Sao Paulo?

If you live in Cali, then Medellin should be a walk in the park for you. I've been to Sao Paulo and Rio hundreds of times and never had any problems, but as any city in Latin America, you need to take the precautions. Safety wise, I feel more comfortable in Sao Paulo than Rio. Now, to have a good time, Sao Paulo and Rio make Medellin look like a farm.

Couple of things, about Medellin vs Tijuana. For me there is no comparison, Tijuana is way better and cheaper, unless you visit the place downtown Medellin and that can be dangerous. You need to be very careful at those places they are in bad parts of the town, and the selection is normally bad. Probably the same quality as the street girl in Tijuana, maybe slightly lower. The High End Places in Medellin are more expensive then Tijuana. As far as taxi, they are about the same, but when I lived there they were on meters and slightly more expensive then Tijuana.

Now if you are into Big Ass and Tits, then I guess Medellin, but if you like Skinny girls no comparison Tijuana. , is way better. If you can get a reasonable price on flight, go, no more then $800 just not that good, very over rated, but this is my opinion.

Safety, both places you need to be safe. Food and service way better in Tijuana. Nightlife in Tijuana, is way better.

My opinion I was very disappointed lived there for 3 months and would never go back. Try Moscow or Russia amazing and not expensive at the moment.

Been to Medellin twice and Tijuana once in the last year. Medellin girls are hotter than Tijuana girls and most are GFE. In Tijuana I just go to the Hong Kong club though. Taxis in MDE are cheap about $5 anywhere in the city. Check out all the info on this site about MDE.

I got my parking validated at the valet stand, and headed back towards the border. follow street signs to I-5 San Diego, and figured I would see the SENTRI Lanes from there. I quickly found out after waiting 2 hours in this line with the normal plebs, that there was a different route that I hadn't seen to get to the fast lanes. Gents, if you can get a SENTRI card or Global Entry card, it's for sure worth it for the drive. As I stared wistfully over at the steady pace of the SENTRI lane, while I drowned my laments in some hot dogs being sold by entrepreneurial locals in the traffic lanes.

Day 2, New Year's Eve:

I wouldn't call it the most beautiful city, or anywhere close, but there is a certain charm to the surroundings, and if you have some time to walk around between your horndog shenanigans, I always advise getting to know any city you're in a bit better. If anything, it gives you some alibis to bring back.

I stopped into a small cafe for a coffee, ate breakfast at Ristorante Azul (Cascada's sister restaurant), and midday I sought a massage from Aztec Massage off the corner of Benito Juarez and Revolucion. Non-erotic, $25/ HR and pretty good. Beware, they use a lot of oil and be prepared to need a shower after.

Around 6 pm, I headed back to HK.

TRIP 1:

Don't come for the NYE Party. I'm sure HK would love for you to come, but just don't. Like anyplace around the world (though I think FKK's are the exception), cultures with a lot of emphasis on families have working girls leaving en masse back to their hometowns or to spend times with friends, at least. The ratio in the club, was about the same men as Saturdays (a few hundred), to about 20-30 girls max. And girls worth mentioning were mostly claimed far earlier in the day for TLN, and the two hottest girls of the night were hired just for the midnight countdown. HK does dress up the club in New Year's decorations, and has a centerpiece table with drinks for midnight, but the real reason why most of the clients there was sorely lacking.

Alanis #2 (different from day 1).

I sat down and lamented the setting and situation, but decided to make the best of it. I spotted Alanis in a red dress standing next to the main bathrooms, being pestered by a drunk dude trying to get her to his VIP party. Some meseros came over to see if she wanted him gone, but seemed alright with the situation. After noticing it for a couple of minutes, I asked a mesero to offer her a drink and she seemed thankful for an excuse to leave.

Alanis has bolt-ONS with a thick behind, and a face that I would say is slightly similar to a Latin Kate Beckinsale? We really hit it off in conversation; within minutes she was talking about her life, her upcoming vacation to Dubai, all the food she loves to eat, favorite music, etc. It was a joy just to have one of the few women in the club to share some time with and she seemed comfortable just spending time and offering me tips on how to avoid getting plastered from the whistle, tequila bottle guy throwing tequila at my face. (Word to the wise on this, I don't think you can say no to this gent, because he was quite persistent even after a several seconds of no mas, no thank yous, basically slamming the bottle in my mouth). After a good 30 minutes of sharing some good company, I asked if she'the like to move the conversation upstairs.

Unfortunately, the same good feels didn't translate to great bedroom fun. I agreed on the quote of 1500 pesos, but when it came time to the actual action, several red flags started popping up. She had pasties on her nipples from after surgery and she requested to keep them on during the deed, she reluctantly agreed to DATY but seemed like she was just counting the seconds to actual sex. (I would consider my DATY skill at least above average, but no Ron Jeremy) During sex, she had her eyes open and seemed to thoroughly not enjoy anything, and she mentioned that she just doesn't make any sound and was not a pornstar. After that, I really couldn't find the passion in myself to finish, and after some half-hearted attempts to restore the mojo, we both agreed that it'the be best just to shower up and call it a day. She seemed overly fussed about her recent hair stylist, who had changed, while I silently mulled over the steps leading to a failed session. We showered separately, and I walked her back to the club, a bit disappointed.

As always, YMMV, and sometimes even a sure thing can fall flat. In hindsight, she was the only girl that didn't offer to do a mini-lap dance at the table and she seemed a bit non-plussed about any real affection, but I figured the other checkmarks would have carried the way. Do your research! Verbal connection, physical connection, and monetary value!

TRIP 2:

I destroyed a couple of tacos, made some calls to friends and family for the New Year's and decided to give it another go, for science! I went back to the club at 10 PM.

Dead. Even more guys showed up, and even less girls were available now. I found a seat and was paired up with another guy, who I chatted with about the hobby and we lamented at the circumstances of the night. An old friend of his came up to dig into his wallet, and I noticed Gloria come in around 11 pm. Happy to see a friendly face, I bought her a drink and we compared notes.

She agreed that it must suck for the customers, but she mentioned making several thousand last year during the NY's weekend, so she was back again to burn the midnight oil. We chatted perfunctorily for a bit, but she politely mentioned that she would be happy to spend time with me upstairs if I wanted, but otherwise needed to pry some dollars out of the customers while the getting was good. I let her go, and did a couple more rounds around the club to see what was up.

Emily / Amelie (maybe I'm completely wrong?

I had noticed her the day before, but was otherwise busy for other reasons Emily has strawberry blonde dyed hair, a very slim body and a bit of an angular face, she has a habit (2-days constitutes a habit?) of wearing rainbow colored knee socks, which I kind of dug. Since, desperate times call for desperate measures, when I saw her again on NYE, I immediately offered her a drink and she seemed happy to sit down with me for a bit. Midnight was coming up soon, and I felt it was a good situation to have a lady to kiss at zero. She mentioned she was a New Year's baby, and how it was nice to think that each year, everyone in the world celebrated her birthday.

HK passes out NY hats, apple juice in champagne glasses, and set up a table in the main room with a bunch of cocktail shots for the midnight countdown. I had noticed two gorgeous looking girls upstairs wearing bunny outfits, but correctly identified them as hired for entertainment and for HK photo-ops. Emily and I watched the final 10 minutes of entertainment (being the two girls walking on stage looking hot and getting photos taken), and at midnight there were the typical shenanigans of streamers, whistles, and drunk hullabaloo. I did have a lot of fun watching the clients try to buy drinks and get the attention of the hired hotties to no avail, and I had many a chuckle at their expense.

I liked Emily, but wasn't really feeling the connection, or perhaps wary from being burnt earlier, I wished her a Feliz Ano Nuevo, Happy Birthday, and good luck for the rest of the night. There was a throng of men endlessly circling the main stage with almost no available women of my taste, so I figured it was best to call it a night while I was still ahead.

CAVEAT:

Cascadas is right above HK and surrounded by loud music until around 5 AM in the morning. I can sleep through pretty much anything, and none of that white noise really bothered me. However, on NYE, hooligans set off M-80's in the street at random intervals dozens of times throughout the night. Suffice to say, it's almost impossible to sleep on NYE there, and it is worth noting if that is part of your plan.

Day 3, New Year's Day.

Not much to say here. I was about to leave early the next morning, but I remembered that HK almost never sleeps, so I decided to wander back into the club to test the waters before the 1 pm checkout time, for science!!

SUMMARY:

I will come back to Tijuana and most likely very soon. My personal life motto is try anything twice, and while I would rate my first trip to Tijuana quite high, I expect many of the roadblocks that I encountered were very time-specific to the holidays. I found the women very attractive, and their personalities open and talkative. I didn't have the time to go to the other clubs in the area, and I'the like a chance to take a crack at them in my next trip. Keep in mind, Mexico is maybe a 1. 5 world country, with some of the creature comforts of first world, but definitely keep your expectations in check.

NOTABLES:

-There are homeless people all around, and beggars. I offered a couple of pesos sometimes, but the offer does not make you immune to further requests in the future.

-Almost all girls I talked to spoke some English, and most spoke very well. Some Spanish is helpful, and much appreciated by pretty much everyone.

-Bring small denominations of cash. Everyone will ask for tips, and while I don't think you have to always tip, it's a hassle to keep asking for change for bigger bills to do so.

-Don't go during the holidays. Men to Women ratio is terrible and the women who do show are probably a bit lower on the totem pole or looking to work hard.

-DO get a VIP card and reserve a room if you'd like to spend the night. I found the savings from the VIP card well worth the cost over 2 days, and the savings will only accumulate over time.

Whew, that was a lot of information to share, but I do hope that some found it useful, and here's to a Happy New Years to everyone and more successful trips into Tijuana in the future!

Day 1, Saturday Night before NYE.

Hey all,

Long time member, infrequent contributor, but quality over quantity amirite? Having just moved to LA, I decided to partake in pleasures of Tijuana (namely, Hong Kong) for New Years. Here's hoping this will be useful for newcomers, and interesting for veterans.

These are the voyages of the starship Scripted Life. Its life-long mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before (allegedly).

Transportation.

I drove. That most likely eliminates a large contingent of visitors from relevancy, but after research from here and Google, I figured driving would be the fastest and most comfortable route. I did purchase Mexican car insurance for 3-days the day of my trip (print and take with you), I tried valiantly to stop in at the Immigration office at the border to get my FFM (tourist card) and couldn't figure it out, and beyond that I am a Global Entry card holder with a registered vehicle. (More on this later).

The drive to Hong Kong (technically to Pepe's Parking) is surprisingly simple. I took 805 S merging into 5 S down to the border, and there will be a sharp right turn then left turn into the declaration lanes. The majority of the lanes are for nothing to declare, and the FAR right is where the immigration office is. I tried parking and getting a card, but was generally confused and not many people were offering information. It is technically a requirement to get one (they are free under 7-days), but never during my trip was I ever asked for documents. Imagine a sexy chica stonewalling you for tourist docs before sealing the deal, right? Not going to happen. Probably.

When you pull up to the no-declare lanes there will be a small light telling you to wait or pull forward, and then the green light will flash for you to move on. If a red light does, I assume there would be a secondary inspection, but during a busy Saturday I didn't see the red light once in about a hundred odd cars. YMMV? After passing through, you are in Mexico and follow your GPS accordingly. There are two turns coming up rather quickly and I did in fact miss my turn onto the Zona Centro ramp, but I was able to quickly turn off at Zona Rio and turn back on to Zona Centro.

Tijuana, like most cities, consists of perpendicular streets, and navigating them should be simple. I pulled into Pepe's Parking, which is free for Cascadas stayers, and you pay when you leave. Don't forget to get your parking validated by the HK valet attendants to ensure it's free.

Required Docs:

Mexican Car Insurance (I used Bajabound $50/3 days, but all prices are competitive).

Tourist Card (It's unavoidable if you are walking in, but pretty much moot if you drive).

Passport (Required for the tourist card, and required to return to USA).

Total Time from border to Pepe's: 10 min, including wrong turns, and extra traffic on Saturday.

Accommodation.

I stayed at Hotel Cascadas. When viewing Hong Kong from the street you'll see HK on the right, a stairwell leading up to Cascadas in the center, and Las Chavelas on the left. They are technically in the same building structure, but have separate distinct entrances. Word to the wise, stop into HK first to get your VIP card before you go up to Cascadas.

Hotel reception is bogged down and quite busy during the weekends juggling between short-time and long-time guests. Be sure to have a reservation before you arrive, or you can experience long wait times. I reserved a Master Suite and still had to wait 50 minutes for the room to be prepared, though I can imagine wait times for lower end rooms are probably quicker, due to throughput and availability. Your VIP card saves you 20% off the cost of the room. Everything is paid in cash, and the ATM inside only gives pesos up to 3,000. The rooms themselves are spacious, and while I stayed in the Master Suite, you can easily see the size of the singles, which are about half the size. Manageable for a night, but spartan in amenities.

I highly recommend staying in Cascadas, even if you are not specifically tied to HK for your trip. While preparation and execution is perhaps not up to first world 5-star standards, the ease and convenience of walking between HK and Cascadas in undeniable, and the price is great.

Tips:

Bring cash in large and small denominations, either pesos or dollars.

Reserve a room before you arrive.

Stop by at HK first to get your VIP card.

Get a VIP card.

Food:

I'm sure you're all here for the food reviews, waiting with bated breath! Rest assured low price, authentic Mexican cuisine is readily available on all street corners at all times of the day!

Sarcasm aside, you have to be blind not to see and anomic not to smell the food nearby. Cascadas offers room service from their sister restaurant, Azul behind the club. All food is serviceable and appreciably cheap. I find the food delicious, but I also eat all kinds of food and have no discernible prejudice against any ingredient or flavors. Tacos are 20 pesos a piece (1) and and / A drinks are about 15 pesos.

Tips:

Bring cash, small denoms, either pesos or dollars.

Follow your nose.

The Club.

Full disclosure, I've traveled the world quite a bit visiting different P4P palaces, so my perspective is of a weathered traveler, and not of fresh eyes. I think Hong Kong Club is excellent, in general I would rate the facilities 8/10. The entrance has a full-time bouncer patting you down before entry, and as you walk in, you are welcomed by a mess of meseros (waiters), a throng of idling men, main bar to your left, and the sight of the main stage with women dancing. Immediately to your right, there are bathrooms, and a doorway to the "VIP" Miami club. I don't think the VIP card is ever checked, but if you do want to use your VIP benefits, be sure to stop by the counter in front for your tickets before you enter.

To the rear of the main room is a set of glass stairs and a ramp to the second floor, and above that floor is the sports bar room. The second floor has a bathtub for their sexy funtime show, and the third floor apparently has whipped cream funtime at different times. I don't come to clubs to watch these shows, as I find them gimmicky, but you will frequently see a crowd of people egging the participants on during these times, and I saw some men volunteer themselves for the whipped cream shenanigans. The main room and the stairs behind them are where the majority of the girls are as well.

Above the Miami room, there are actual private VIP rooms for lapdances, that are charged at a separate rate, though I never used them, so I can't report on the price. The main benefit is privacy and no meseros to constantly ask to refresh your lady's fichas every 15 min or so. Above the main room, is an extended part of the 2nd floor that overlooks the main room, which is a little less busy, but with proportionally less eye candy. And finally, above the 2nd floor (Main Room) there is a 3rd floor, that I didn't stay in, but I think was for private parties?

Drink prices are about 85-90 pesos, and fichas (lady drinks) are around 150 pesos. I would say these prices are not cheap, but I did not go to any other clubs in Tijuana during my trip and I am comparing them to bars in Thailand and Germany. Fichas are required to be earned by ladies during their work shifts, so don't be offended when meseros or ladies request them. They only earn $1 from each drink, and the majority of their earnings are from going to the room with you, while the fichas remains as the steady source of income for the club. It's a necessary evil, and after the first fichas, I'm sure you can wave off the meseros for a bit of time, if you are uninterested in the girl or bleeding more of your wallet. You are also given a free drink every 24 hours with your VIP card.

On the topic of meseros, one will find you in short time when you enter, and will tag along with you for the entire time if you so choose. If they don't greet you, you can ask for any free mesero, and they will happily accompany you if they can. They will give you a tour, help you connect with women, and gladly accept your propinas (tips) as compensation. You don't have to give them alot, but I usually threw in 20 pesos per drink order, or bought them a single drink to keep them happy. I don't think they are technically allowed to drink, but they will readily accept one as a tip.

Tips:

Bring cash, always bring cash (pesos or dollars).

Dress is casual, but don't look too sloppy.

Take a tour of the club first from a mesero.

Get a VIP card.

TRIP 1:

If you do have a mesero, he will gladly recommend "friends" of his, that he believes will suit your taste. I don't think they will be offended if you don't like their recommendation, but their greatest use is to help beckon a girl over that you fancy. If you don't have a room, you'll be asked to pay $18 and they'll assign you a room and a condom. I'm pretty sure the condom is free, but bring your own anyways. We all know we have favorite kinds, so do yourself a favor and come prepared.

Soapbox preach: YMMV is your-mileage-may-vary. Women in this trade are humans first, sex machines second. They have their own tastes, wants, and desires. They are in this business for work first, and pleasure second. I typically have a good rapport with most of the women I take, but have flopped on several as well (more later). It's up to you to determine before you take a girl what your level of "affection" is and that will greatly affect what happens upstairs. I always buy a drink for the lady, and attempt some light fondling, affection, and small talk to test the waters. A cold sell for the room is a high probability for disappointment, from either side.

Planning my second mongering trip. I was going to return to Tijuana again for maybe 5 days this time for late Jan. But I started reading the Medellin thread and saw the super cheap prices there for the chicas. The airfare is about $100, but the rest is cheaper (rooms, food, girls). This sounds good but unlike in Tijuana where everything is in a 1 block radius, in Medellin you have to go to different parts of the city, which is additional taxi money and hassle.
