Hand signals work great if they bear some semblance to the word. But I'm going to jump in here and clarify something for the newbie. Such a hand gesture does not mean "arriba. " It's obviously a rather crude way of saying "to fuck. " Arriba is simply the word for "above. " The Mexicans like to speak in alliterations, as they feel it's not so crude. So the girls may not say "Let's go fuck," but may say "Let's go arriba (upstairs would be the best English translation), or if you're seriously local you may go up the Guava tree. If you must use a hand signal for arriba, pointing up to the ceiling would be better.
