Anyone know a bartender who has worked at DR for years. Christina. Used to work the day shift. Wonder if she is still there.

They will charge you a hefty chica fee (30$)There are much better options including the Hotel DelRey and the Presidente.

    slow down

Canuck. WALK. Don't RUN. SLOW DOWN and enjoy the whole show.

HDR would not be my Hotel of choice but as a first timer it is centraly located and will let you get the lay of the land ( no pun intended) take the opportunity to ck out the other Hotels in the area. They will all show you a room if you ask. Also try asking for a better discounted price. You will be surprised at how many places offer a discount or include the tax in the original price or offer a free breakfast and no chics fee's.

Please go to the Tico MP's. At least walk into the places and ck out the ladies and the prices.

What ever you do or decide; DON'T PAY CEIN $100.00. Even in the DR or KL you can get a girl out and back to your room for $30.00 - $80.00.

If she starts at $80.00 offer 15 Mil. stop at 20 Mil for 1-3 hours. Yes depending on you you can get more then just the hour out of the evening.

Shower, massage, sexo, pictures & more pictures for the forum.

    San Jose Newbie saying thanks

I am heading for my inaugural trip to San Jose on Thanksgiving weekend and I just wanted to thank all of the forum contributors for the various info that made booking the trip quite simple.

I chose the HDR as my hotel mainly because I do not have to worry about navigating around the city in the quest for talent. ($70/night)

I also came across a good fare from Delta by leaving on Nov 21 and returning on Nov 24. ($648 and this includes the hop from my home airport to Atlanta)

I look forward to a change from my usual Brasilian mongering.

Thanks to all of you I feel well-prepared to hit the ground running in San Jose.

I'm with you on that...you can also watch the games at the Morazan, 2nd floor in the betting room...but you might have to place a bet or they won't let you stay

    Heading Back to CR

Heading back to CR Nov 26 and staying 13 nights with a wingman for most of that time. Came back from SL Oct 12, but will stay at the Castillo this next trip. Great rates, close proximity to ZB and SL and delightful staff.

For football fans, the satellite feed at the SL doesn't always have the game you want, but go to the Colonial Casino right next to Del Ray for a more complete set of feeds. Kinda smoky with poor ventilation, but I'll be damned if I'm going to miss NE kicking ass.

Need some info on Sleep Inn behind HDR

I was there in Feburary and they were Chica friendly at that time. I could have sworn I read here somewhere that they no longer allow women visitors.

Any information on this would be a lot of help.

I think the place he's referring to is the Olivo (w/o the 2nd i). It is not far geographically from the Corobici but you actually have to go a couple blocks further back along the north side of the Park before you make the turn for it. The taxi directions are "300m al norte del edificio ICE" at the Apartotel Cristina. I haven't heard much about this place although I know that it has also been around for a while and I haven't seen it on anyone else's "best of lists" but maybe 2666 has found a hidden gem.

It is on the other side of town from your hotel (although jumping in a cab for $3 is no big thing). I actually thought for a moment that he was referring to another good place called Olio's which is a highly rated mediterranean restaurant that is 2blks north of Bagelmans just before you get to the tracks (Bagelman's is a SJ landmark 4blks west of the Suburu dealership on Avenida Central)

Bakea is not really new or at least not in the last 1-2 years. But it would be a decent option anyway if you were staying in Barrio Amon as it is only a short walking distance from such places as the SL, Hotel Castillo and the Amon Plaza. Personally, it seems I'm one of the few people that are unimpressed with this place and don't understand all the fanfare, but then there are other places in SJ that I think are qually over-rated. The ambiance at Bakea can't be beat and the food and its presentation is very good, but the small serving sizes seem inversely proportional to the high prices on the menu. I wasn't expecting cheap and plentiful but I was expecting more than what I got. Obviously YMMV here.

I'm not sure I could think of any really NEW fine dining restaurants either, but I can think of several more upscale restaurants that have been around awhile that are within walking range of the Hotel M and which you probably haven't tried.

First off, the most obvious choice would be Jürgen's which is located in the Boutique Hotel Jade. That is listed as 2.5 blocks north of the Suburu dealership making it practically right next door to where you'll be. They're not exactly new having been around 10 years and but are very elegant and have highly rated international cuisine. And I'm willing to bet that you haven't tried them. http://www.hotelboutiquejade.com/restaurant.html

Another place which I believe may be relatively new place (or at least may have a new chef) is Il Ritorno. It is located in Barrio Escalante (2 blocks south of KFC). I'd probably rate them more as semi-formal since they also serve brick-oven pizza but the reason I mention them is because of the new chef is "returning" from the famous old Il Ponte Vecchio restaurant which used to be just on the other side of the autorotunda in San Pedro (before it closed) and which was supposed to be thee best or one of the best Italian restaurants in town. Here is a review that appeared in the NY Times: http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/gui...=1154654629952

Just over on the other side of Avenida Central in Los Yoses (2 blocks back towards the Gulch on Calle 35) is L'Ile de France in the Hotel Bergerac for french food. It is not new either by any means but it IS elegant, extremely well reviewed and within a short walk of your hotel. http://www.bergerachotel.com/restaurant.htm

Finally no list of upscale dining on the east side of town (near the Hotel M) would be complete without mentioning Donde Carlos. This place probably goes without mention to most CRTers and if you're a VIP member you get a nice discount. It is located a little further away due south of your Hotel on I believe Calle 41. They serves south american cuisine and offers some of the best steak dishes in town. For whatever its worth here is the AM Costa Rica review: http://www.amcostarica.com/032405.htm#11

Hotel M here we come-need restaurant advise

Headed down tomorrow. Have a limo picking us up, staying at the Hotel M, have 4 chicas lined up for 24 hour fun for my wingman and I. I like the sportman but couldn't get in so we are going more upscale than usual this trip. I am only in town for 48 hours.

I have been traveling to CR for 26 years (well over 100 trips), back in the days where the only action was KL and then you had to take them to a drive in no tell motel. Ah, how things have changed.

Any suggestions from the crowd on new upscale fine dining experiences would be really appreciated. I am looking for only restaurants opened in the past year or two that I might have missed.
