Then, maybe I travel to Manaus for 14 days.

Is anywere in this time in Rio?

It all depends on the building. I know several Rio residents whose apartments or those of their neighbors have been burglarized. Perfect example of how things can change was an apartment I rented recently. The porteiro during the day was great. However, he took a couple of days off and some young punk with keys took over. It did not give me a good feeling. Add to that I usually had to wake the night porteiro up to get in, I did not feel particularly safe in that building.

I can't recall I ever heard about problems with breaking in apartments in Rio. Most apartmentbuildings have porteiros and often surveillance cameras.

The only risk is if you bring a girl to the apartment and she steals from you.

Cooking? I do like cooking (specially when the girls cook for me) but that's not the main reason to choose an apartment.

Not to contradict you but I did hear a story once from a guy that had his apartment robbed. I saw him the day after it happened in The Office and he told me the story. Even his hidden safe was broken open and robbed: passport, money, etc. He suspected that it was an inside job. Sorry but I do not know who he rented from.

I am relcutant to rent appartment because of the unsafety in Rio i heard about breaking in and stealing at least in hotel more sercurity i aint a cook man so i prefer a hotel on appartment for better service

You need to feel safe to Hotel is best for you. Like Sperto said, it is more a girl stealing from you than anyone breaking into your apartment that is a risk. Hotels will be very expensive around New Years and Carnival, so shop wisely and probably book now.

Thank you for your inputs hmm I aint expat like ya man anyway booking hotel is also a must to obtain the visa in addition to the airline ticket yeah man things are rough in middle east GOD wish I was born in the US or Europe aka civilized world I envy you guys please don't blame me for that I would not have go through all the hassle.

Looking through these posts last year I have done my homework

And going to Rio in dec for 27 days

Figured since this is my first trip I would make it well worth it

But one thing about looking to threads last year I saw a list of addresses could someone direct me to the correct thread so I can print them up

There were a great amount of them for termas in centro and other areas of Rio and lots of spots

The thread will be greatly appreciated

So now I am willing to go there in new year eve another for 12days all in Rio another problem I was aming to stay at altantico copacabana hotel gf next to lumo nice and safe I did my home work since I am new gringo who is trying to learn portguese as suggested by your good self I will not rent appartment

Why do not not want an apartment? I think you will get a much better deal and have the freedom to do what you want. You will have a kitchen and can cook food and save on that. I would strongly suggest you look into apartments.

So guys i was wondering anyone going there at this preiod it will be a plus since I don't word of portoguese hmm i am trying to learn but when you hang out with an expat it is definitely an advantage.

so finally i made my mind to hit rio been reading a lot about the termas lumo pronunced humo, centrerus, 4x4 etc escorts on rio hot side, cia, helpeee disco balcony so what made me relcutant the crime and safety in rio but what the heck i will do my best so skip thailand after 2 times in the row as well as prague and dubai i am dying for that hot brazillian chicks with their rounded asses.

yet here is the problem i am on a budget i mean obviously guys i envy you since fellow americans and europeans got cool and decent package as for me i from egypt my national air lines does fly to south america and the best deal i got is a ticket on air france at the sum of 1550. us$ other airlines are exremely expensive such at lufthanza, iberia it is above 2500. us$ damn the fuel prices are flying high.

so now i am willing to go there in new year eve another for 12days all in rio another problem i was aming to stay at altantico copacabana hotel gf next to lumo nice and safe i did my home work since i am new gringo who is trying to learn portguese as suggested by your good self i will not rent appartment i will even order a transfer from the airport the problem is my agent is telling me that the hotel is full booked and that i will never find a decent hotel for not less than 250 us$ and per night since it is the peak and that on the from 29 till 30 the price for the room will not be less than 350 us$ i have noticed that the atlantico copacabana are quoting 116. us$ i have already send them e-mail and waiting for their reply so in case they are fully booked or beyond my tight budget (not more than 120. us$) can you guys help me any recommendation i noticed from the prior report that you mentioned rio rioss and debret hotel but i am not sure their status gf or not

as for my budget for mongering, food and taxis do you think that 4000. real (approx. 2325 us$)will be enough for 12 days. will i be ok or is it too tight that i will be in short of cash

one more thing my agent advised me if i want the better price i should skip the new year eve all prices are back to normal of course i am aware of the carnival which starts in february so guys what are your suggestions shall i skip the new year at rio and what alternatives for my accomodation do you suggest.

Your agent is right about the high season. New Years and Carnaval hotel and apartment prices are generally 50% to 100% higher priced in these holidays. I suggest avoiding the periods 12/25. 01/03, and 02/18. 02/28. Debret is no longer guest friendly. You can register one guest for the period of your stay. Debret does not allow you to have multiple companions. If you stay at a hotel, breakfast is usually included so you only need to pay for lunch and dinner. Lunch will cost from R$15 to R$30; dinner entrees at restaurants run from R$25 to R$45 plus drinks. If you have a guest, double these costs. You can save on taxi fares by using onibus and Metro, (I. E. Taxi to centro is about R$20, Metro is about R$2, 30.) Mongering depends on your negotiating skills and number of active days. You should plan on R$300 per opportunity. When you get to "A Cidade Maravelhosa, " if your dick starts doing your thinking for you, it will be easy to exceed this budget.
