You have to go visit a Terma (or 3 of them). Its something you don't want to miss, even if you go alone. Go have some beer or water or whatever, find a nice girl and have some fun. Make the most of your time there.

On my 1st trip to Rio, I only went to a terma on my last 2 nights. I went alone and had a blast. I wished I had gone sooner in the trip to try more places.

Check a few out, have fun, then post your experiences for us to read.

I'd second that. Especially if you are still getting to grips with Rio, which can be quite daunting. Walking in the door of the terma is *the* only difficult bit, not knowing what to expect. But, compared to most things you can do in Rio, it's kinda like a safe, pampered, sex-on-tap environment. You only have to use minimal common sense instead of looking over your shoulder all the time.

Perhaps I don't understand your question. It's April now, October is 5 months away. You can use it for another 5 months as long as you have not visited
Brazil over 90 days this year. I would not recommend being in Brazil in October when your Visa expires.
My 5 year visa expired this month. I plan on renewing it this Friday. I'm hoping they issue another 5 year visa.

My 5 year brazilian visa will expired on October, 2007 and I was wondering if anyone knows how many more months I can use it before renewing it. I couldn't find anything on Brazilian embassy web site about this.

I have been to Rio many times and know most of the good termas and I speak portuguese.

For any interested in taking a cab there the first three weeks of April, I can introduce you to some of the owners and some girls that fit your "type".It is one huge party, every bar (about 50) playing their own music, road food and a general good time. Cost of splitting a taxi is $5 from Copa.

I am not in Rio, but I would highly suggest that you go to a therma even if you do not find a buddy.

Monte Carlo is right at the corner of Avenida Atlantic. It is really easy to find.

I know it has a website that you can find easily by searching.

It would just be a shame for you not to go.

Returning to Rio after my first solo trip last year. I will be in Rio August 17 -26 if anyone wants to hang out.

One good thing about the violence and weak dollar--airfares are going down. At the moment you can get to Rio from California for $700-800 on Delta, and I think Continental is close to this range too.
I was looking at rates in August. A few weeks ago rates for the same period were at $1400.

Vila Mimosa is not for everybody, but it is a great exerpience. It is kind of like an old Wild West town on a Saturday night and the Sheriff is out of town. I have been there many times over the past 4 years and have found it to be very safe. Yes there are plenty of dogs 3s and 4s, but I always manage to find an 8 or 9 to take home for the night. It is a several hour process as girls come and go, but surely out of over 200 you can find ONE keeper.
