I don't believe I have ever flown Spirit (all the airlines blend together when you fly as much as I do). Thanks for the info about the cramped seating. I did reserve a exit row since I am 6'5". I didn't want to spend the extra $60 RT for the Really big seat (what ever that is). On most airlines the exit row is pretty roomy for the legs. Is that your experience on Spirit or should I suck it up an try to snag the "really big seat"?

My Wingman is 6 foot 4 inches tall and the only way he is comfortable on Spirit is if he gets the seats by the emergency exit doors. Those seats give him enough leg room. As far as the big front seats they give you plenty of room for your arms as they are in rows of two and are very nice if you can afford the extra charge.

Be VERY careful with Spirit. Not only do they charge for carry on luggage (don't forget you have to calculate RT!) they also charge you to reserve a seat. The seat charge is $12 for aisle or window, $20 for Exit and $50-$60 for the BIG seat. Again these charges are each way. On the ticket to CTG they wanted $40 for carry on and $40 to reserve exit row seats. That is $80 above and beyond the ticket price. I am 6'5" so there is no way I am going to risk getting an aisle seat.

Caveat emptor.

Spirit nickels and dimes but for the frugal who are aware, it's very economical. I thought the same as you, but did the calculations and they are much cheaper than the next competitor. Spirit is NOT for large folks! Probably anyone over 6 feet. The seats are more cramped to fit more people. So if you're small, it doesn't matter where you sit and you SAVE money. Carryons and most of their savings is if you join their $9 fare club ($39.99/year). $20 for carry-ons and $15 for checked luggage (each way).

So doing the calculations... a flight from NY to MDE will save me $170!

I'm seasoned I think been to MDE Medellin 8 times. And still love it. I'm travelling with a few dorks but there ok. LOL. One speaks no english. I wouldn't mind hooking up with some fellow mongers who can give me sneak previews of places I've never been.

But that list may be small.

Two of them are friends so I will have no problems with them. $262. 70 Rt from ACY. That is best price I ever got to Colombia. Oh yeah almost forgot, Spirit charges now for carry ons so add $40 to that total.

I don't like to go for such a short time but these guys twisted my arm so I gave in. Of course I could of stayed longer but then it would of spoiled the whole group experence.
