Hi all

I have been reading the forum when I could for the past few weeks knowing I am headed to Pi.

Any suggestions for me and my family (young) to stay in Manilla, I am looking for a good hotel with a good pool, less than 90 us a day?

I am planning to see some WWII stuff for a couple fo days before we head offf to another island, any suggestions on what to see?

If the hotel was near to the fun areas that would be a bonus as the family needs a great deal more sleep than I.

Also are there good dentists like in BKK in Manilla or Cebu? I need some work done and would appreciatte any help.

Surfer still hasn't assisted a monger in need of a place to stay in Manila next week, despite a very public plea by me. It took a while to figure out, but finally the penny dropped: Surfer is in mourning for his old friend, Ace Gallant.

Many of Surfer's 'reports' in the past, have referred glowingly to Ace Gallant. In fact, Surfer used to urge Ace Gallant to hunt me down, as Ace Gallant was known as the one who got Stanley Ho fired from his job in Singapore, for some cyber infraction, and reportedly had millions of dollars at his discretion with which to hunt down mongers that he disagreed with. There was no mention of whether Stanley Ho had a family to support and whether by getting Stanley fired, his family suffered. No, Surf's posts show him to be firmly in Ace Gallant's camp. My infraction was that I suggested that Ace Gallant start a rickshaw business on Burgos Street in Makati City. For that, I was marked for death. Surfer totally concurred.

Ace Gallant received a 30-day suspension for threatening to kill a fellow poster with a M-800, whatever that is. Me? I'm nostalgic for the old days, when a monger got banned for being obnoxious, like Junior and On The Go. Things were more innocent then. Just think. If you're a Serial Antagonist, you're banished for life, but, if you threaten to end a fellow poster's life in some horrible manner: you get 30 days.

Surf, we got a new justice system. Guess what? If you dont help me with the hotel, I'm gonna punish you so bad you'll wish you never crossed me. First, you're gonna wash Xman's four-month supply of unwashed socks; after that, you'll wash Dragon Slayer's empty wine glasses--rumored to number in the thousands; and finally, maybe, you'll become a contributing member of this Board, instead of being a member who never met a flame war he didn't like.

Ok, Surf. I need your help in choosing a hotel. Lets put the fisticuffs aside. This will prove whether you are the contributor to the board that you say you are. I'm not interested in the Mandarin because there's no lobby to speak of. I need a place thats close to the action, but not the Bayview because thats full of japanese mongers and anyway, I banged the controller from that place. Must have a nice pool and a decent gym and the rate shouldn't be more than $400 a night. Also, there must be at least one nice restaurant on site so that I can interview the FH girls. They'll be stacked like the flight patterns over JFK, so there has to be a nice public area, you know what I mean.

I'll be with a friend, a big Californian and will be easy to spot. Well-dressed, smiling, spending lots of cash and surrounded by the girls. X, (flip-flops, cargo pants, last week's t-shirt, three-day-old beard) probably won't stand a chance. Poor guy will end up watching Flip television all day...this is what I'm afraid of; a ruined vacation. I can just see the joint communique from you both: 'Manila ruined by Gringos!'

Yo X, I thinks I got the solution for ya. There was a guy here a while back, Hilton Cowbyoy, a failed poet, who used to cruise the byways in an SUV with a mattress in the back. That might be an idea. You could rent one near the airport I'm sure. The price would suit you too. Try them vegetable markets way outside Metro. Thats where the action be at. Wanna keep everyone happy is all.

As for your continuation of your juvenile obsession with me, Xman is right that it "gets old". Jackson already told you that and asked you to stop, which you have, until now.

In terms of support among the Colombia posters, dare I say I have a lot more than you especially given that your great "supporters" Prov and Guinness have been banned (neither of which had ever been to Colombia, but posted there, and elsewhere, at your instigation or in solidarity with you). Don now has been to Colombia twice (to my 14 or 15 trips), where he paid almost New York prices.

So cut the crap, and keep your postings limited to your fascinating ruminations on the pros and cons of open marriage and dispensing advice on family law in New York. You did post a report, once, on braving the dangers of Butuan (how scary LOL!) to meet the FH girl. Since this is the travel announcement folder, I will mention that next month I am taking the GF (met on CB) on our third trip together, this time to get her certified in SCUBA in what Lonely Planet calls "the New Boracay", Sipalay, Western Negros. No mongering is likely out there, nearest city is 3 hours drive (Bacolod). Dumaguete is about 4 hours drive, but neither of these cities are exactly renowned as meccas of mongering either so bringing your own from Cebu (or Manila/Angles) is advisable. Will post a brief report on the place after I return.


I will have one night in Manila, and a couple days in Pattaya at the end of the trip, solo when the GF goes back to Mindanao.
