Well, unfortunately, one of those unforeseen circumstances popped up, and as a result, I've postponed my trip. I'm keeping an eye out to see when this year I might be able to reschedule, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't until this time next year that I actually can go.

Unfortunately, most of the WGs on that site are either overweight or loaded with tattoos, but there are a few gems to be had. Using WhatsApp (apparently one of the preferred communication methods in Uruguay), I sent messages to seven WGs and received responses from five of them. They quoted prices between 1500 and 3500 Uruguayan Pesos for an hour of service, with all of them either having their own place or willing to visit hotels.

So that's it. Apologies to everyone who were hoping to get fresh information from me on the Uruguay mongering scene. I'll post an announcement here when the trip is rescheduled.

Montevideo is almost as boring as Asuncin, except with way less pussy. I spent a couple of weeks in Asuncim once and the only thing that saved me was listening to baseball on the radio. But then again, I had a gun pulled on me in Montevideo, which was not exactly boring. It worked out okay, though. Renting a car is probably a good idea, but you might want to do it in Punta del Este and not Montevideo. Even the cops drive insane in MVD. Trust me. I rode with them three times during the so-called investigation. Not only did they catch the guy, but they gave him a hell of a beating.

If I had a gun pulled on me I wouldn't see a reason to ever come back here. I was in Asuncion 6 days. I've been here in Montevideo for 2 days now. Here it isn't easy to walk to the places you want to go, and there isn't always a taxi around. Besides mongering, I see many nice buildings and monuments that are of European quality. I will also go to Colonia del Sacramento for 1 night and Punta Del Este. And a taxi from the airport to near Centro is about $50 USD. An Uber ride to the airport is about half the price. But you can't catch an Uber from the airport. Oh, and Montevideo has Uber. The taxi mafia in Asuncion closed down the Easytaxi app in Asuncion, they use to have it. But not anymore. Getting a ride in Asuncion isn't always easy unless you are lucky. I had to call them the old fashion way to get a ride to the airport in Asuncion. That was difficult for me. The people in Paraguay and Uruguay are not liking my Spanish which is understood in places like Mexico and Colombia. I don't like their Spanish either. I'll report in the MVD thread.

I got my tickets already. A flight from Asuncion to "MVD" , then to Buenos Aires was only $265. Later I'll probably go to Cordoba since I know someone there, then go to Chile. I've been looking for a cheap route, and the ASU. MVD - BUE for $265 is pretty good.

Tomorrow is my 6th day in Asuncion. Talk about being bored.

Since I might be bored in MVD, I'll probably rent a car the full time so I can drive around. I don't get so bored in places when I can drive around. Also, I am not a marijuana smoker, but if I get very bored, I'm sure it is easy to get since it's mostly legal.

In Uruguay 27 Sept - 5 October. I might use a couple of those days to rent a car and have a look at Punta De Este. I know it will be too cold to enjoy the beach, or people at the beach. But I video of places I travel, so I'd like to also see Punta Del Este for at least a day. I will spend most of my time in Montevideo though.

I imagine there aren't many of us members in Montevideo. But, time for me to RTFF.

Will be staying in Montevideo for a week starting Monday, April 26th. I've been hitting the books, RTFF for some time now and frankly, the scene looks a bit 'thin'. Hope I am proven wrong. But I'm bound and determined to do some on-the-ground research and return with some updated field reports.

Also, any suggestions / tips for my visit? Also, I've been pondering renting a nice condo and / or beach house and throwing a party for the last weekend that I'm there (Jan 14th) either in Montevideo or BA. Any suggestions about venue? Does anyone have an apartment they'd rent? I'd like to keep it under 400 / night US$ for 2-3 nights.

Thanks for your report, Art. Even if I'm replying more than a year late, it's good info and good news.

I spent a week in PDE during March 2007, checking out Uruguay as a possible expat-haven, and visited Casa de Nana two evenings. The girls were asking UY$1000 per 1/2 hour at that time; I figured "gringo prices, " had hit me, as I was following reports in another website that cited "UY$500 for 1/2 hr". Now, with you posting in October, I understand why I paid more; March was still tourist season for the girls (like September in Atlantic City, NJ, USA).

I'm quite inexperienced as a monger, haven't been around naturally, but my opinion is that Nana's is quite an amazing place. I really really like to be able to stroll around and chat with the girls, rather than have the "desfile" of who's available at the moment. Maybe I need to visit Punta Del Este in the springtime, as you did, instead of doing Oktoberfest in Blumenau (SC, Brazil).
