I will be in Boca Chica next week, starting on Tuesday. Staying at the Hotel Garant. American with limited Spanish. Anyone wanting to get together and compare notes and share a beer or two.

Flying into SDQ for the first time and looking for suggestions on decent reasonable hotel that allows me to bring a guest. I'll be at Blackbeards most of the time 8/13 for a week but plan to spend the last night or 2 in Santo Domingo. Have been to Sosua and BB many times but have zero experience in Santo Domingo. Should I stay in the city or Boca Chica? I trust it's pretty easy to get from SDQ to the bus station to catch a ride to Puerto Plata. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My two cents: If your flight is late (that is night), it is a lot easier, faster and cheaper to spend the night in Boca Chica and catch the bus the next morning. This obviously does not apply if you are getting there during daytime but pay attention to the bus schedule (check the websites for that) - Caribe Tours and Metro Bus.

For your return, if you are already satiated after POP / SOS, Boca Chica might be good as it is essentially a stone's throw from the airport (and there are women there too!) but if you are still hungry and want to try out the capital, stay in one of many hotels in the Zona Colonial. If you read up the right forum, you will find names of hotels too and all hotels are good with guests with an ID.

I have been to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata but it will be my first time in Santo Domingo from June 3rd to 8th will be in DR with a buddy (Santo Domingo), looking for recommendation, good locations to find ladies and good chica friendly hotel.
