It seems like the most economical place to stay is Comfort near the Otopeni airport, but it is still a bit far from the city center. That being said, can anyone recommend anything better (more cost effective), of decent quality, and a little closer to the downtown?

I will be in Bucharest for three weeks from the last week in August to the first 2 weeks in September. Will probably go to the black sea resorts for one of those weeks. Can anyone please tell me what options I have if I want to travel from Bucharest to Constanta - is it driving distance - and do rental car agencies provide a driver is so required. Would really appreciate it.

From Otopeni airport is better by car.

Otherwise, if you are in Bucharest take the train from the main station North Bucharest. By train (ask for Intercity - the best and fastest) you'll be in 3 hours in Constanta, costs about 15USD.

Some rental agencies provides also a driver, but PM me if you want to travel to Constanta by car with me, I'm local. Otherwise look at:

Otopeni-Constanta - about 3.5 hours with a good car and driver, no breaks. Can take also a cab, but ask for price in advance and mention you'll want a receipt at destination.

If you need any other info on the Romanian Black Sea Coast, ask.

I was in Buc last year and the year before and, although I cannot pretend to be considered as 100% knowledgeable on the topic, I know a few things, places and ladies (Cf my previous posts on this thread)...
