I am returning to work in BD after a couple of years since my last assignment there and need to find a reliable apartment for a couple of months where I can also entertain
I have only just subscribed here so I can't send PMs yet, but I will be in an expat guesthouse in Gulshan from next week, so I would like to find something quickly.

I have a two bed two bath unit, super nice, fully furnished with an american style kitchen. It will be ready by the 10th of this month, includes all except electric charges as that fluctuates depending on usage.
Anyone coming into town or know of anyone who may be looking, send em my way.
Sorry backpackers, not down your alley, building all expat occupied and if you are lucky, i will entertain you at least until you are settled in.
Any questions, please pm me.

Yea, i am glad i was able to be of help.
Our other monger Dsschow left tonight, one happy camper, coming back in a couple of weeks.
I have already rented out the unit you were in, plus tomorrow i think iwill have the unit that dsschow was in, also rented out long term.
By the way, not looking for budget minded mongers, you gotta be Radisson, Sheraton, Sonargaon, or Lakeshore Hotel clients to be able to wanna stay at my place.
And the rate would not include my personal service, that is reserved for the people that I like and wanna party with.
I am also working on getting a car service with chaffeur. As you know I am getting that fancy auto from my expat friend, i will provide hourly service, but its only for people who can pay, otherwise you take the rikshaw.
Cheers Gos, it was my pleasure, hope to see you soon sometimes.

Posts: 89Review Report on EZs Apartments
Located in the plush Gulshan area, this block of 20 apartments that EZ has built, are of standards comparable to the ones in 1st world countries. Around 8 of these are rented out by EZ (pls correct me if I am wrong). There are 3-bedroom sets as well as single bedroom ones, all tastefully decorated and furnished. The fittings are of extremely good quality. Round the clock security, plush entrance, spacious elevators, and mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors all over the place. 24-hour power and water supply are backed up with excellent housekeeping services. Besides, you have access to free broadband internet.
I stayed in one of the single bedroom apartments which had the following amenities:
Living room (split a/c unit, sofas, TV, DVD player, music system, rugs on the floor)
Dining room (split a/c unit, 6-seater dining table, rugs on the floor)
Kitchen (Refrigerator, electric kettle, toaster, coffee percolator, microwave oven, a four burner cooking range with an oven, cutlery, china, crockery, utensils, etc… you name it, it’s there!)
Bedroom (split a/c unit, TV, double bed, letter table with chair, ample storage – chest of drawers, wardrobes, etc., attached bath, top-loading washing machine, electric iron, broadband internet, linen, towels, etc.)
The apartment is on the top floor and surrounded on all sides by a huge terrace.
I also had a chance to check out a couple of 3-bed apartments. These are even more opulent than where I was staying. A few select pics of the interiors of both apartments are attached.
Personally speaking, staying in an apartment not only works out to be cheaper but is also the best way to monger. The location in Gulshan is safe without any LE hassles. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Besides, if you get to know EZ well, you may also get the chance to get acquainted with the wonderful women he happens to know!
These apartments are best for long-stay individuals. For short-stay visitors, you have to be lucky for vacancies to crop up, as I was. So, good luck!
EZ also let me know that he has a farm house about an hour drive from Dhaka and he would be willing to rent it out once in a while provided he likes and trusts the person. It’s built on a 5.5 acres plot of land with mahogany plantations, gardens, huge pond where one can fish, etc. If time permits, I plan to stay there the next time I visit Bangladesh.
The best place for stay-and-monger is being built by EZ near the Radisson. The basement will house the bar with the best bar counter as well as booze in Dhaka, plus a pool table, plasma TV, etc. The ground floor will have an apartment for EZ’s personal use while the 1st floor will have two small apartments for rental. The construction is SOLID! This, in my words, will be the “mongers’ paradise” in Dhaka, although EZ is still debating a name for the place. Imagine renting an apartment in a most secure part of the town with all modern amenities, being able to sample the finest drinks and also enjoying company of beautiful women, all in privacy and security. All this at a fraction of what it costs to stay in any of the upscale hotels in the city. Little more to ask for in life.
Best

as i've not been to ez's serviced apt so i can not vouch for it. however, i can certainly vouch for ez. very cool guy. easy to get along. very helpful and resourceful. good taste. so if he has a property in the market then i'm sure it will be good.
for internet, you are better off buying the gprs card for grameen and it has a very good connection/speed. i had a friend from uk visiting bangladesh and he used it. i believe he paid gbp20 for the card and then about gbp 8 a month. i'm not sure about the exact amount.
car....hmmm... now that's another can of worm!!
disclaimer: i'm not related to ez nor is he paying me to post this.

Posts: 248thanks, I appreciate your response. I can provide a one bedroom fully furnished and serviced apartment as of March 1st but i think I am a a bit over what your budget allows you. The Lakeshore Hotel is gonna cost you over a 100 hundred u.s. a day. The best i could offer you is @1500 a month for a one bedroom which would include everything including housekeeping.
I wish you the best of luck and give me a ring regardless of where you stay.
When you get into town, check out whats available, and if I can be of any service, let me know.
Wish you the best.
ciao.

Thx a lot for the infos.
Indeed, I had a pretty good time in Myanmar and managed to have a very comfortable circle of birds which I and older visiting friends enjoyed.
Well, to answer your post, I am French, and should be around dhaka by March-April. I had a look at the pics you posted and it looks pretty good. I came across as well of the postings where you mention that you got a little something currently being built and another one mentionning a penthouse. Do you have any pics of those locations? I am looking for either a spacious one bedroom or a 2 beds places.
I was enquiring about the Lake shore from afar (internet). I have been used to this formula living in Myanmar as it does make total sense in such a country: all inclusive, 24 hours electricity, internet, service. For a somewhat honest monthly rate (below 1 000 USD).
Now it is true that I have no idea about the situation in Dhaka. If apartments are cheaper that is worth being considered. My requirements are simple: comfortable and clean place, secured, 24h electricity, a/see, broad band internet. I am basically looking for somewhere hassle free.
As far as my budget is concerned, it will depend on the place! I had a look on the net, and it seems that I can find something decent for about 400-500 USD. I would therefore say I am looking for something around that target. Initial contract could be up to 2 or 3 years.
If I may dare another question, how much would a car rental with driver cost me on a monthly basis?
Thanks for your pointers and looking forward this new challenge in Dhaka!

Posts: 248Anyone coming to town in Feb?
Hi Fellas,
I have a vacancy coming up in my building in Gulshan across from the Lakeshore Hotel & Apts, as of February 1, 2007. Right now there is an american fellow staying there short time until the end of January.
Its a fully furnished, one bedroom apartment with everything one could possibly need. If you are used to the Sheraton, Sonargaon or Radisson, this would be up your alley albeit at a much cheaper daily rate.
Short term/long term all is cool. Pictures of this unit in the previous post, its the one bedroom, NOT the penthouse which is occupied until April.
Let me know if any one is coming to town.
Cheers

All I was offering was that if someone wished to stay there, I would take em out for drinks at the club at least the first time, and perhaps introduce em to one or two of my contacts, thats all. Please dont get the wrong goddamn impression as some people do, I monger for pleasure only, and party only with people whose company I enjoy. Money is not my goal, I am old enough to be able to chill and enjoy each day at my own standard of living.
Sorry to go on like this, but I wanna set the record straight.
Any references you need, ask our fellow mongerers Mickey Rooney and QBF, as I have personally met them and partied with them.
Ciao.
