Thanks for the mention. Hope to see you again soon. Really though, some of you guys make it sound a lot easier than it is for a lao wai to move around Shanghai for take out. Many people that have been ripped off come to me for safety. Easier also to communicate between two lao wai and not get something unexpected.

I will take you up next time I am in Shanghai. THAT SAID, I PM'ed several people when I was in Shanghai and nobody responded to me other than Dragon D, who responded immediately and I was grateful for it, and Asian Gambler, who must've been busy and responded several days later. Nobody else responded. Had I received help, I might've tried a different route but I was pleased with my stay and felt D deserved credit. AG was very helpful, but unfortunately, I had to leave the next day after he replied to me.

BTW, I am not faulting anybody for not replying to me that time. I too would be wary of helping some random guy who was new to the forums if he PM'ed me asking for info.

csun, thanks for the tips man. Like I said, it was my first time in Shanghai (actually, my first time ever in China) and I had no clue. I stumbled on this board through Google the day before my trip.

I am not sure if I should be posting my POV on this thread, but am sure Jackon will delete it if it is not appropriate.

As you may know, I and others on this forum are in favor of free sharing of information to help other mongers visiting China. I normally get a huge welcome and all the help I need from ISG members whenever I travel. Case in point is my visit to Shanghai last week when fellow members went out of their way to show me around for free, every night.

Regarding the language issue, I am certain one of the Shanghai based members would help you for free, as well, either in person or by providing translation help over the phone if you PM them in advance of your arrival. And, as Csun says, body language can be used and understood. I'm sure you are not the first laowai to visit a BBS in the Village.

Having said all that, you are not the first to praise DragonD on a job well done. Jackson has ruled and allows him to pimp on the board. I have my own opinions on the subject but have agreed that I will not express them any further.

None of the girls spoke even a little bit of English, so even if I had their numbers, which I could've gotten, I wouldn't be able to tell them simple things like "come over at so and so time" or "I'm at the 4 seasons" or even "hey it's me from the other night" or anything. I couldn't even communicate with the cabbies while I was in Shanghai. So for a guy like me, having a local "guide" was invaluable. May not be the case for many of you, but for me, I could not monger alone. The girls were from some BBS in the Village (I think that's where he took me, based on the forum descriptions). Even if I would've made my way there, I wouldn't be able to tell the manager that I wanted to take them back to the hotel. Like I said, I was really lost.

Language should not be a big problem. For the BBS, just bring a card for your hotel, then show the mamason your card and point at the girl. She will know what you mean. As for girls coming back to your room, it would not be hard for her to understand a call from a foreigner, telling her time, hotel name and room number. Don't worry too much because all the girls know what you want. They are not there to talk with you.

Has anyone used the Visa Service like Dragon D has mentioned ? (Not specifically his, but any of the ones in Hong Kong or whatever which supposedly can get business visa's or whatnot for long-term stay in China) I want to go to China and hunt for a job, but it is hard as hell if I have the 30 day tourist visa and then get booted! It would feel much more comfortable if I could get 3-4 months minimum, just move in get settled, and THEN worry about job hunt. So anyone who's had experience: please advise me. I'm interested in flying into Hong Kong and getting any sort of visa that will let me stay long-term on the mainland.

If your from the USA, just obtain one before you leave from one of the agencies on the internet. I got a 3 month single entry "L" Visa before I came over and it cost me $50 USD. You can obtain a visa in HK, but if your an American, there's a different requirement for us as well as a higher price.

To be honest with you, I thought my first post never made it here. I didn't realize at the time that each post was screened by the admin, so actually, only now do I realize that this was my second posting.

About what happened that night, well, it was not one night, it was every night. I was staying at the 4 seasons hotel and called D up every night. I tried 5 different girls. There's one that he calls the "Teacher" because she is the one that trains all the new girls. She is not the best looking of the bunch (though not bad looking at all) but she can move something serious. If you want to go with a very experienced girl who knows how to move her body, go with her. The other two nights I tried very new girls, who were much cuter but not nearly as good. The last night I tried two girls at once but would not recommend that (just my preference) because every time you switched, they had to go through this process of cleaning you up and recapping your little guy, which is definitely the safe way to go and I appreciate the safety, but it really interrupts your play.

If I go to Shanghai again, I look forward to seeing the teacher again.
