Posts: 362Get Viaga in Costa Rica
Nothing for sale here....just FREE info:
You can buy Generic Viagra at almost any Farmicia in Costa Rica real cheap.
The 50 mg pills go for about $ 1.75 each and up slightly almost anywhere.
The 100 mg dose goes for around $ 2.25....same deal.
Go into almost any Farmicia in San Jose, or anywhere in Costa Rica and ask for Generic Sidenafil Citrate. This is the name for Generic Viagra.
Try to get the Two-For-One specials and you get double the pills for the same price as one pill.
I have been using these same pills for about 5 years....and they usually 'do the trick for me'.
You can find the same pills in Panama.....Panama City or David....but they are about 3 times higher in price there.
Same for Nicaragua....about double the price as available in Costa Rica.
I've usually buy about 40-50-60 of the generic Viaga pills and use some while in country...and almost always bring about 25-30 of them back with me too. I have never, never been bothered or even asked about them coming back thru US Customs in Atlanta.

Posts: 362For Sale - Laptops, Handhelds, GPS units for Costa Rica
Hey Guys,
I just returned from a trip to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
I've been going there for about 5 years now...think I've made about 8-9 trips all together.
I always wanted a cell phone to have at my disposal in Cen. America - to make and get calls from all the babes.....but never had one until this last trip.
I was able to buy a new cell phone for $ 20.00 plus a $ 10.00 card in Managua, which worked there and it also worked in Panama City.
Costa Rica is a whole another story. Cell phones are very expensive there and you can't get cell phone service unless you are a resident or you buy the rights from a resident.
Laptop computers - These are luxury items to Central Americans. You can buy them, but they go for 2-3 times what they will bring in the States.
I have been taking some small laptops down there for years and can easily sell them for twice the going rate there.....as in the States.
Last trip I sold a used IBM 240 laptop for $ 250.00 to a local in Managuan. He had spent some time in the US....and was absolutely thrilled to get that laptop.
Handhelds....like the HP Ipaqs, Sony's, Dell Axim X50, etc. Very small...about the size of two cigarette packs side by side. Great little full computer that does the internet and Email...and if it has Bluetooth and Wi-Wi - will also do it wirelessly anywhere there is a Wi-Fi location.
Plus most of the handheld puters will also do GPS too....double duty in one very small unit.
Color GPS units. About the only one that really works in Central America is the Garmin GPS units. They have the WorldWide maps for the whole world.
All the other brands work well....but no maps for Nicaragua, Costa Rica, or Panama....except the Garmins.
I have about 6-8 of the very small IBM laptop computers running Windows ME and GPS.
Also about 4-5-6 of the small handheld puters that are running the Garmin GPS with moving/talking maps of all Central America, South America, the Far East, the whole world.
Cell phones....I will just tell you what and where to buy them....no charge...and you can get your own for Central America - cheap.......except in Costa Rica....for the reasons above. You can rent a cell phone for Costa Rica but they usually run about $ 40-50.00 for a week or so.....which is more than my budget can stand.
My prices are very reasonable........the small slightly used handhelds units with color gps start at $ 80.00
For example: Or I can get them brand new too.
I can fix you up with a new Garmin wide screen 4.3 inches, color GPS unit....new in the box with a one year warranty from Garmin for less than $ 200.00 .
I will preload all the moving maps of Central America on it too. If you want all the World Wide maps...then figure on adding on about another $ 30.00
Insured shipping from my location in Missouri- will run about $ 12-13.00 per unit.
If you are interested in more information or to buy a unit....send me a Private Message.

How about significant experience in the bar/restaurant business? The bar and the restaurant business has the highest failure rate of any entrepreneurial activity. It can be a extremely tough business and if you don't know what you're doing it can really chew you up and spit you out.
But even that is not really enough. Add to that, experience working in the type of business environment that exists in places like CR - particularly an agonizingly slow, inefficient and often corrupt bureaucracy and a labor force with much a radically different work ethic than exists in the US.
Still think you can handle all that? Then add to that a good command of the spanish language or better yet a tico partner that you can trust. Otherwise, expect to be taken to the cleaners with gringo pricing for everything you need to buy, which will probably happen anyway.
Don't get me wrong. I really hate to burst your bubble. As I said before, maybe you do have what it takes. And if you do, I'd certainly LOVE to see another successful BM type operation in SJ, if for no other reason other than to provide them with a little competition and keep everybody honest. But I just think you should keep in mind what you might be in for. Personally, other than the nonfinancial appeal of working everyday with hot and loose women, I think there are probably a lot less risky, easier and more profitable ways to invest your money.

[QUOTE=Duruma]Has anyone done research on opening a club/massage place in San Jose? Or know of any expats that have done it? Besides the investment $$ what would it take to open a Blue Marlin type place there?
Thanks,

Just curious about how and why you came up with your handle. It does seem to be Costa-Rica specific in that it is so similar to the name of a famous/infamous San Jose massaage parlor, Zona Blue. A place I recommend checking out, by the way.
How many days are you planning on devoting to your May vacation? If you can manage to get away for a couple of weeks or so, you'd have plenty of time to monger in San Jose AND see some of the country.

Hoping someone can assist? I'm travelling with fellow mongers (5/6 of us) to San Jose between 17 May-25 May 08. Looking for a nice villa to rent. Would appreciate any suggestions and contact information!

Zzblue,
Just a piece of advice for a newbie. Spend some time reading this fine forum and THEN submit a question or two based on your research. Noone wants to spoonfeed info that has been REPEATEDLY posted here to a lazy rookie.
