Now folks, kindred spirts, I am not sure if this question has already been asked. I won't be surprised if it has, considering the number of expat south-asians in Dubai.

Is being brown-skinned a huge disatvantage in the dxb mongering world? I know it is money that eventually talks, but are WGs, especially the part-timers, wary of encouraging, say a guy from India? I'm in Delhi, Dubai-bound for a year long assignment. How much of a handicap is the color of my skin going to be?

Would appreciate a response from both, the indian and the western expats.

I have never had any problems getting in clubs or getting women to go home with me. Russians, Filipino’s, CIS etc. Also I have chatted it up with square chicks without a problem. Could be the diamonds? I don't know they always respond well. One thing man if one girl doesn't like you for what ever reason. I am South Asian and have had zero problems, I usually go for CIS! Sporadic mentions quite rightly that DXB is a racist society in many ways, but a black guy in a manhattan night club would have a tougher time (getting in, forget pulling) then an asian in dubai.

Just make sure you don't play to their prejudices...leave the white shoes and floral shirt at home! Otherwise, if you have an english accent that will also help.

My view only; the racism doesn't stem from what colour you are its economics. The average girl there still equates white with money and all else being equal non-white is a bigger economic risk for them in that they feel they maybe short changed or tried to be bargained down once out of the club. If they feel that you are money good, there are no issues.

Just my two paisas worth, i'm sure you will have a great time.

Yes and no. On the surface, yes, there will be some discrimination, DXB is a very racist society.

On the other hand, once you get to know some ladies, they will, imho, treat you as an individual, but do be prepared for some initial hesitance.

I know many CIS and PRC´s (and Stanis) who shy away from "non-westerners" (read white, lily white) but then again have met many who became great pals with individual Asians. You may also benefit from being introduced by a "European."

To put this in context, I knew a long term DXB resident Asian who could slip into the clubs where he was known without paying (or if I was tagging along) but who also introduced me to some wonderful CIS ladies he knew. Also, when I was able to introduce him to another "source" he was not only welcomed, but became a house favorite.

Racism? sadly yes, but it IS surmountable.

Having said all of this it should be born in mind that sex outwith marriage is a criminal offence in the UAE (Whether with a prostitute or long term 'common law wife / partner'). And, in general, having anything whatsoever to do with prostitution, pornography or this site does carry some legal risks. The assessment of the risk, and the decision to participate in any particular activity is of course a personal one which we all have to make.
