Finally made it along to Marines bar in the Seaview and all I will say is what a dive! I know you boys like your Flippers but man this was a fucking freak show (and the only Flippers I saw were fucking RANK). It was busy, but dynamics were fucked with too many blokes and a very, very, very high proportion of the WG's being fat freak show types. My pals and I likened it to a Star Wars bar. Coupled with the fact that the a/c was clearly not working properly, and many of the freak shows were very very poor (read disgusting) African hookers, made this probably the worst WG bar I've ever been to in Dubai. Most of the girls made the pretty lame and below par. What a shithole!

On the whole I agree with you. I've been to Seaview a few times in the distant past (and again last night night for the first time in years, on a special mission for the big-boobed Filipina - see post below. But I usually avoid it like the plague for the same reasons you mention.

I rate Seaview at the bottom of my list of Dubai clubs, along with Jockeys Club at Panorama Hotel. Having said that, last night was a relatively quiet week night, which made it bearable. The aircon was fine, as it wasn't crowded. There were only about 15 guys, many of them only there to watch the famous band or to play pool. Maybe only 3 or 4 guys were on the hunt, and there were about 60 girls, so that meant a good ratio. But it was still slim-pickings - as you said, most girls were unattractive or downright ugly. Many were also very aggressive in their marketing - lots of grabbing as I walked past them or as they walked past me. Many of them coming uninvited and putting their arms around me as I watched the band at various times. I had to gently move them aside saying "No thanks". There were maybe 5-6 few cuties in the whole place.

I only decided not to leave immediately as Bjork look-alike caught my eye with her shy pouting smile and her cutesie short Bjork-type peasant dress (and she was cool enough not to market herself aggressively - she just made sure she kept in my line of vision nearby, until I finally signalled her to join me) and I settled into a few games of pool with a few guys and chatted/flirted with her.

Seaview officianados like 11Bravo, Barcrawler and others love the place (partly for the band), but they also advise to avoid it on the weekend due to the stifling crowds of guys. This applies to virtually all clubs in Dubai - AVOID on weekends!

As for the band, it has a loyal following, and it is still going strong. I was glad that they don't play as painfully loud as they did a few years ago (either that, or I've gone deaf since I last went there years ago) - the volume was still loud, but bearable. I remember taking close-up photos of the band in action a few years ago (some of which I posted on ISG) - they are a friendly bunch and happily posed for my shots while rockin' away. I admire their stamina working in those conditions 6 nights a week for many years. Last night they had genuine friendly smiles as they walked past me during break times, but they're looking a little tired nowadays. So would I if I had their job.

The Filipina contingent has grown a lot in the past few years. There was a very tall Filipina in her early 40s wearing a business pants-suit, with a short masculine haircut (maybe even an old ladyboy), walking around the club speaking to the Filipina girls in a serious manner. Looks like many of the Filipinas are controlled by her. Not a good vibe.

In sum, many guys still like Seaview, but I won't be back. Definitely avoid on weekends.

Finally made it along to Marines bar in the Seaview and all I will say is what a dive! I know I've not met any of you boys (knowingly anyway), but if this is the game which you're hunting then we're into different sports. Most of the girls made the pretty lame and below par women that I described at Lucy's (see FR below) look like fucking NY catwalk models. What a shithole!

Now I have to say that compared to the Marines Bar, some of the women in here in comparison are like Hollywood porn stars and Playboy bunnies. That's not to say they were 100% (nowhere near in fact), but compared to Marines, the quality was infinitely better. A special mention too must go to one of the singers in the band who is probably the best looking Asian chick I have ever seen, with legs that I could happily stare at for the rest of my life. I would gladly pay a large amount of $$ to bang her.

On the accounting front, tentative enquires led to an opening price in Jules of AED1, 500 (ha, yeah right).
