T55s were the main Soviet tanks post WWII, produced from 1946 to 1981. Original poster probably meant "old and heavy" but actually they were not heavy tanks but medium ones. I am quoting some excerpts from Wikipedia (yes, I checked the dates as I was not sure) they are a surprisingly good fit, one could be forgiven for suspecting the writer had a wicked sense of humor:

-The T-54/55 tanks are mechanically simple and robust. They are very simple to operate compared to Western tanks, and don't require a high level of training or education in their crew members. (Well, if we are comparing them with American Women, anything is easier to handle)

I forgot to add that they were also very popular in the Middle East, and the American Imperialists destroyed plenty of them in both Gulf Wars.

I used the term T55 as most of them are overweight and in abaya. Abaya is Arab women dress to cover them. It is usually black and only eyes are visible.

An important think to understand is that unlike many western countries, big meat is a delicacy in many Middle Eastern countries.

Street scene is generally cheaper option and that is reflected in quality. However, you may get good quality at around 03 am or sometimes in Africans.

Ramada and Majestic both are in Bur Dubai just around 100 meters from Al Waleed / Bank Road. Most of the time both green and particularly in summer good value for money. Best way to find the location is to search on Google and get the location from their web site.

That was great report on T55. It seems you have some in depth (pun intended) knowledge in the Tank design, anatomical comparisons and their performance. I suspect you are some kind of war veteran who has changed to civilian job. When I read ENL querry on T55 I thought it was some kind of abbreviation which I do not know. Thanks for the response guys. I would like to avoid a congested area like Bur Dubai. And definitely no building with no security, being a newbie in Dubai. If it comes to that, I can stretch my budget to 80/90k if 70k is too less. BTW, are there good buildings / sub areas in Bur Dubai or all run down properties. Tecom location also seems perfect but not sure if I will get a 1bhk in a good building even if I strech to 90k.

If you're not sure of prices for apartments, try looking on Dubizzle (Dubai. Dubizzle. Com). Loads of apartments for rent on there. Obviously, if you're not sure which areas are suitable for your needs, searching on a Dubizzle might be a problem, but it will give you an idea of what you can get for your money in various parts of Dubai.

Try Silver sand or Golden sand behind Ramada Hotel area. These are decent apartments, not typical rundown buildings in Burdubai. All the area between Ramada on one side and Spinneys and Burjuman on other side have some decent upmarket buildings with mix Nationalities residing there. If you stretch your budget to 90K then you will find decent building. They all have security. All we mongers in Dubai have learned the art of managing our security LOL. We tip them on regular basis. A happy security will make your life easy when you want to bring in the WGs. Actually I do not give damn what he thinks but little tip can help if you have a very religious neighbor who can complain about your mongering activities. He will diffuse the situation.

There is area near Movenpick opposite American hospital which have some good building but this area is away from Golden triangle, there are many AMPs around though. It is closer to DIFC but there is no Metro stn nearby. Taxi will cost under 15- to DIFC.
