A tactic that I've started using in recent years is to go to a club, do the round, and identify 2-3 women that I'd be happy with. Some more general pointers.

1. Walk in like you own the place. They have no idea that it's your 1st time or you have done this a 100 times before.

2. Smell good, freshly showered and well dressed. In my experience if you wear a sports coat, you get the good kind of attention. The coat will smell of cigarette smoke and perfume so it needs to get cleaned before the next outing.

1.
