I don't know what landmarks it was near. It was my first day in Dubai and I have no idea where anything is. Why can't we put the exact name? That seems silly. If police really wanted to bust people, Premier and Moscow wouldn't exist. It's clearly openly tolerated in Dubai, and is a huge reason for their tourism AND immigration. Are they really going to start shutting down places that not only hurts tourists, but also reduces their pipeline of residents? I don't think so.

Well, it is true that a lot of scams happen. Hence its always better to be safe than sorry.

Just ensure you don't carry anything valuable with you when you go. If you have an expensive watch then leave it in your car.

Carry only the amount of cash which has been agreed for the deed.

Avoid keeping your ids or credit cards with you as well.

In this case, even if the situation goes south, you will not lose much, and the damage will be quite contained.

And tell the girl to show herself by opening the door full or else you will leave from the corridor.

I was once scammed by a black girl. So next time onwards I took these precautions. And in time I found a gem.

Anyway, give it a shot (and yeah carry your own protection, its always better).

Every Ramadan we get these questions by newcomers and travelers. I have copied my 2014 post as a refresher with new Ramadan dates.

This year Ramadan starts either on 6th or 7th of May depending on position of the moon. Most of the bars will remain open only in the evening after about 7 pm. The food and alcohol is not served daytime. There are secluded restaurants in 4 star or 5 star hotels where they will serve food.

There will be no bands or music played in bars except on PA system. All bands and musicians will leave en masse by 5th May. Alcohol is served in most of the bars and our regular pickup places only in the evening. Bars will takeup renovation work in Ramadan hence they get closed. Many WG leaves the country on holiday because business is down. Majority of Locals, Arabs, Muslim men will abstain from sex during holy month.

But many WG will stay back due to lack of money. You will easily pickup a good bargain since there will be more girls and less men in places like Kubu, Premier, Regal. Seaview will not be much affected because of expats crowd. But action will start late.

Avoid drinking, smoking in public place in daytime. Many hotels will turn red in Ramadan. Five stars will not get affected but it is better to be cautious.

Ramadan is good time for late nighters. Food outlets are open even beyond 1 PM, there is a buzz on the streets at midnight. Shopping malls will remain open late and get crowded after 9 pm.
