Thought about betting some money at the Sportbook place in Juarez.

How is the atmosphere inside? Do they serve alcohol? Is it a decent place to watch the games?

I'll be passing through El Paso Tuesday night, May 24th, and thought I'd hop across the border for some action. I'm looking for advice on a good place to park and walk across the border, a couple of recent club recommendations, and a decent hotel to stay in (with company of course).

Park at any of the parking lots near the Santa Fe Bridge. Shouldn't cost you more than 5 dollars. Then you can walk across the bridge for 25 or 35 cents.

Hell, for US $10k I can fly first class to Thailand and have enough pucha to KILL me. 8-)

And as for the other WAAAAY overpriced "excursions" - just remember - sure, it takes a bit of time to get there - and the language is a bit difficult (no worse than Chinese), but the benefits are WORTH IT. I'd rather go without than deal with US/Mexican pu-ying (that's "women" in Thai)

You can do that for a lot less than $10k.
I was just pointing out that there are way high priced women here, and I am sure there are guys that can afford to, and do, pay it. No way am I one of them.

Claro! I am certainly not advocating the street scene. My comments are more a look back comparison from my travels to Dom Rep where ALL the chicas are basically SW freelancers. I'll stand by my post about that girl on Mariscal, but I also will say that I rebuff any offers from the SW's there as a rule.She was probably one in a lifetime.

I'm getting closer to that point in my life, as well, where those shady alleys just don't have the same appeal anymore. The little rush of adrenelene becomes overshadowed by concern for one's own welfare.

Living in Vegas since '81 I've found my share of back alleys & shortcuts, seedy bars & HO&MO-tels. I used to love it. Or at least my New York roots did. Now I avoid those things out here and am starting to get a bit fed up ( bored) w/ that type of adventure in the Cd. as well. The wanton disregard for other people makes it complicated when dealing or travelling thru those types of areas.

Those things in the Cd. had a certain appeal to me from the start, after getting over the initial apprehension of being in another country. Now it's just become bothersome in its own way. After my first adventure by Villa ManPort & Encanto area (nice steak, quiet drinks, massage, quiet drinks) I liked the difference. The lack of general "street harassment" was nice.

But as sure as I am that this "new area" will see me again, I'm sure I'll yearn for that seedy, look over my shoulder feel of the circus-shadows behind Ave Juarez. I have stopped checking on Club Panama only because of the walk back to the "main corner" by Queens, etc. Too much work getting thru the street trash & other characters.

The one thing that I don't think is too good is that I may have become too comfortable in that area of Juarez. I don't believe that's a good thing at all.

Yeah, I hear you. You can move around down there just fine, even at night, so long as you avoid the drug addicts, and that's really what we're talking about here, I think. The SWs are pretty much all drug addicts. They seem to live from day to day, paying for that $12 a day room and spending the rest on the crack peddlers who prey on them. I have to tell you my avoidance of that whole scene really has more to do with Dallas than Ciudad Juarez. I was a musician for 15 years in Dallas, and you have to play some pretty seedy places as well as the nice ones as a musician just to pay the rent. Whenever the scene is drugs you get that surrounded by vampires feeling, wherever it is, and there are denizens of the drug scene in Dallas who are tit for tat as wierd and unstrustworthy as any in Juarez. It was definitely the same sensation all over again the first time a SW got in my car. I'd just personally rather pay $30-$40 and leave that all downtown, the corrupt cops, the drugged out girls, the TVs, all of it. But that's just me. I'm a risk-averse old man now.

Cute thing about 25 that I met at a La Michuacana. Kept catching her looking my way while she drank her drink. Every time I caught her (or maybe she was catching me!) it prompted a shy smile from her. We talked, she went back to work, I went back when she was almost off and away we went! Each time that I've been with her sees very little sleep. More like naps interrupted by one of us "setting up" the other.

She turned me on to the "Melon" drink and I get it every time because of it. She also made me realize how much I love the Cd.

There's one or two other bar women (note - not girls) that don't expect anything anymore but, as I'm sure Mugroso would agree, I wouldn't steer anyone to them. Even I don't take them up on it, if I can avoid it. A little too drunk & wacky over time.

A lighter hair type from the lower part of the country - I forget where exactly but the moral of the story is it was 3PM, she was a food server and we spent that nite, and a few others, together with no monies expected. In fact she got pissed off when I suggested money.

She too suggested that the Mariscal area was no bueno!

A while back , i posted about a SW who was not strung out,she was dressed like an office girl, very clean, and quite pretty, and basically a normal girl looking for extra holiday cash.GREAT SEX.I have not seen one like her since, Lightning in a bottle there.
The rest have been dismissable at best, although there is one named Maria (or Marie) who hangs near the gymnasio that knows a lot of english ( warning sign #1) who always is looking for me when i'm in town.I have never been with her...but she works real hard to get me to go.

Saw this street girl. Said all she wanted was $20...I finally get the door open, and I the old woman who sits up by the front counter said she called the police. I just leave....I'm almost at the bridge, the police put up against a wall. Druggie chick been following me all this way with the police...They won't let me leave untill I give druggie chick another $20. I'm still pissed...Has anyone had a similiar experience?

Everyone who messes with the SW's in Ciudad Juarez. The story is always different, some wierd new twist. Avoid this part of town, period.
