No Dougie-palooza for me this week, sorry. Still stuck in Las Vegas with a few things on the plate.

The trolley is a decent little ride-thru from a tourist standpoint. I tried it once to see the other side of town. Some interesting POIs and the main trend of stops are the various shops along the way.

They give you a colored wrist-strap "ID". You can get off at any stop and get back on at any stop at any time thru the runs. The last stop is the old Juarez Mercado. A gringo stepping off the trolley is like chum in a shark tank at that place.

Coming back, they drop you off before the walk-thru and you get back on after you go thru the turnstiles. Starts and ends by the Convention Center.

I didn't ask about not returning to El Paso on it but I don't see how it would be a problem if you let them know when you got off. They do a head count before leaving every stop.

The CC is where you park and has been used for overniters by Forum member(s) w/out problems in the past. I wonder how using the old "I missed the last one yesterday" would work with coming back the next day; wristband still intact, of course.

I found it to be a nice daytime excursion.

Yeah, that one. I have never actually ridden that trolley, but look at the route. It goes up Avenida Lincoln, right past Venus and within a couple of blocks (max) of Sirena's, El Encanto, Michels and, if it is still in business, Brenda's. To sample this "cluster" of MP's you would debark the trolley at Av. Lincoln and Hnos. Escobar and hoof it. There are also several REALLY good restaurants in the area also, I just got through stuffing myself at El Toro Bronco, my favorite steakhouse, on Av. de las Americas a couple of blocks south of Hnos. Escobar. I think the Montana steakhouse is one of their stops, but skip it, and go for one of the "real" local steakhouses or seafood restaurants, not the ones that cater to gringo touristos.

From there the trolley goes down 16 de Sept. all the way to Av. Juarez, passing right by Luxxor and passing within a couple of blocks of Genesis, Corpus and Felina's. And Loryed is not too awfully far from the corner of Lincoln and 16 de Sept. either. And as you pass down Av. Juarez the last call for pussy would be Cleopatra's, just east of Av. Juarez on Ignacio Meija. And, like I said, if you have a trolley ticket in your possession you are assured of being able to get back to EP. I think you might get through customs quicker on the Trolley, but I cannot attest to that for certain.

Yes, it is certainly set up for "regular" tourists, and I ain't sure whether they will pick up or drop off passengers anywhere besides their "trolley stops", which have signs marking them. But the bus system in Juarez is pretty good and if you find yourself off the beaten path you can get on almost any bus in town and sooner or later you will end up back in El Centro near the Cathedral. From there you can get back on the Trolley to get the rest of the way back to EP.

P.S. Speaking of Customs and this idiotic obsession with security, I was parking my car at one of the border parking places yesterday when a fellow deftly threw his coat on the barbed wire and went right over the fence and disappeared into downtown EP right there in plain sight of the bridge. Shit, everyone acted like it happened every day, which I'm sure it does. The only ones being scrutinized at this so called border crossing in the so called name of so called security are the law abiding citizens of both countries who have nothing to hide. Talk about having your priorities fucked up. You don need no steenking visa to get into the countreee, you just need a coat to throw over the barbed wire. And if necessary, you need to be able to outrun the overweight Border Patrol guys, which anyone who ain't on crutches and half those who are can do with ease. Security my ass, talk about shoving a pacifier in the baby's mouth to stop it from crying.

You can get around easily enough without a car. And the bus system is Juarez is great, although it can be somewhat difficult to figure out at first. The trolley will get you close to several MPs should you choose to take it. It's cheap enough and having a trolley ticket will at least make sure you can get back to EP when you are ready to go home.

What should look out for.

Avoid the police and the parasitic cabbies. Avoid the police. AVOID THE POLICE!!!!. Did I mention that you should avoid the police?? Good idea not to take you car across the border either, IMHO, to avoid possible run-ins with the police which invariably lead to you having some amount of money extorted from you. And make sure you avoid the police. ;^)

Would it pay to stay in Juarez.

If you are a newbie it might be a good idea to stay in EP.
