OK, finally got things ironed out and am traveling to Moscow on the 16th and will stay probably a week. Still have to solve where to stay and since CAT is out of the biz I need some reccomendations. Also would'nt mind sharing a 2 BR with a seasoned monger. Any body got suggestions?

After first visiting Norvogard the Great and Saint Petersberg (two cities I really liked), I was looking forward to the Moscow visit. After all it was the capital so it should be better right? Wrong! As much as I enjoyed the other two cities, I was totally unimpressed with Moscow.

We arrived early morning on the over-night train from Saint Petersberg and proceeded to the hotel where we had reservations. We were told that we couldn't check until 1pm regardless even if we paid an additional night. But they would store our luggage until check in time for us. So we went to breakfast to discuss what to do. Although the cafe was pretty upscale the food was barely eatable and was really expensive. This was right across the street from our hotel, which was down the street from the American Embassy. We decided to go ahead with one of the smaller site surveys and to return to the hotel afterwards to check in. It was in one of the government ministries near the Kremlin. Talk about rude behavior! These guys were total asses! First they didn't want to let us in, even though they had us on the schedule and our papers were in order. They made us wait over three hours before they would finally let us in and then only three at a time (there were 9 of us). So three would go in do a site survey and then the next three and then the next three. This smallest site survey took until almost 6 pm and then we proceeded to the hotel to check in. At first they told us that they couldn't find our reservations (why didn't they tell us that morning?) then they found them but since we hadn't called to tell them we were checking in late (at 6pm!) that they had cancelled the reservations and given out the rooms. They only had one room left at this point, or so they said. I felt that we weren't dressed to their wishes is the reason for this cancelled reservation.

So our Russian guide got busy trying to find a hotel with nine rooms free. He tried all the "western" type hotels (which equates to $$$$ a night) but couldn't find enough rooms for us. So he found us a Russian style hotel that didn't know if they could register foreigners or not (we all had business visas and really didn't need to be registered). After about an hour, they finally got some official on the phone that asked why we weren't staying at a "western" hotel. When he was told why, he said he would check and call back and let us know what to do. Over an hour later, he finally called the hotel back and said that they could register us. By this time we are hungry and tired and just want to get something to eat and go to bed. First surprise. We had separate bed rooms but each two rooms shared a bathroom. Second surprise was that the cafe in this hotel closed early so we couldn't eat there. We had already let the guide and van go for the night and he wouldn't answer his cell. The one good thing was that we were only about a block from the subway. So we all got cleaned up and walked to the subway to find a cafe to eat in. We decided on downtown and rode the subway there. Not many cafes were open in that central business area (they must cater to the lunch time crowd) but finally found one and ordered. Once again not the greatest food and expensive also.

We got a little turned around, everyone had a different opinion on which was the right way, so I asked for help in my poor Russian. I was ignored mostly even by the militia. Not near as friendly as the other two cities. Finally we got some help, found the subway and our hotel. Finally got to sleep in the not so comfortable beds.

The next morning, no hot water! What a way to start the day. The weather was cold and it was snowing. Our guide was late, another bad start to our day. When he finally got there, he took us to a cafe with good food at last, but it was still rather pricey.

We had to drive around town to several different locations and I have to say that this city was not laid out all that well. The public transportation is good with the subway and buses, but I thought Saint Petersberg was better. But taxi are pretty expensive here, even compaired to places like New York. The cheapest way besides subways or buses was to hold your hand out for a private car, but that is not feasible with a large group.

There does not seem to be a central area with all the action is, it is all over the place. And the subway stops at either 11 or 12 pm (if I remember right). So exploring this town had time limits for us, since we had to send the van away by 9 pm every night.

We did check out a strip club that had a pretty high entry fee, but the girls were top notch with great bodies. AND touching was allowed and encouraged during private lap dances.

Trying to keep on schedule for our work assignments was impossible because of the lack of cooperation from government officials and our five day stay turned into nine days. They were not just lazy they were also rude with an attitude! I wish that this was a "by location" bid instead of winner take all because I would not bid on Moscow.

General Feelings about Moscow: Very expensive! People seem to be more concerned with how you are dressed than whether you are a good person. They seemed to think they were elite, especially the government officials.

Food: Generally good (after we figured out where) but on the expensive side compaired to the other two Russian cities.

Plus Side: Public Transportation. Historic with a lot to see. Although I was disappointed in the size of Red Square and the condition of the Cathedral in it. How they got all those tanks in there I will never know.

I did get a taxi to take be to the Toika (sp) line near Red Square just to see what the talent looked like. Again not impressed. I realize that it was cold a snowing, but after all I heard about them, the selection was pretty low for the quality.

Overall I give this city a two thumbs down! Although, if I got to know the lay of things I might change my mind about it.

Even getting to the international airport is a hassel and expensive. Next stop Kiev!

Being "close to the action" is relative... the action is spread out all over Moscow and Moscow is huge... but nonethless there are certain areas in which action is clustered.

In principal you will be ok anywhere within the garden ring or close to any metro station within the brown circle line since you will have to take a taxi to most locations anyway. As previously mentioned, you really shouldnt be walking anywhere at night.

I think even more important than the location in reference to the city is actually location/proximity to metro stations and well travelled thoroughfares where you can take the metro without walking far and/or catch a taxi without hassle. For non-Russian speakers it is also important that your apartment is close to something prominent or easy to find. Especially at night many of the taxi drivers in Moscow are non-Russian, meaning Caucasian. They may know every shortcut in Yerewan or Baku, but they have no clue about Moscow. So you'll want to have a point of reference, usually a metro station, to direct them to.

Equally important is having a 24 hour shop close to the apartment where you can get snacks and drinks.

For pro action you'll have to take a taxi anyway, so being "close to it" is not really relevant. Just stay central.

Club action is found in several clustered locations, including:

Bariikadnaya/Krasnopresnaya (Real McCoy, Mio etc.)
Tverskaya/Pushkinskaya (NF, various strip clubs, Bunker, B2, Defile, Garazh)
Teatralnaya/ploshad revolutsuii (Osen, Pirogi, various strip clubs, etc.)
Kuzentsky Most (Karma Bar, Barbie etc.)
Lubyanka (Propaganda, Papa Johns, Che etc.)
Novokuznetskaya/Tretyakovskaya (Cabana, Fabrique, numerous off-the-beaten track clubs)
Taganskaya/Proleterskaya (Park Avenue, other Russian clubs)
Belorusskaya (Dirty Dancing, Voodoo etc.)

Arbatskaya is a nice location due to the proximity to Arbat, but it really isnt next to any clubs that I can recommend, except for Hard Rock... and HR is really only a place to get cheap drinks during happy hour, take oblast dyevs to to impress them and get them drunk, grab a heaping portion of nearly authentic American food or look at Jimi Hendrix's fantastic multicolored jacket. Still, Arbatskaya is an easy taxi location and you'll have no transport or shopping problems. I havent actually stayed in the building you mention, but isnt that where the Danes stayed? Read Gaffer and Flowerpower's recent report.

When I select an apartment I really dont select for proximity to clubs... in most cases you arent actually within walking distance, so you end up taking a car anyway. I look for places close to metros and close to main roads easing the taxi situation. Locations where you cant go wrong are anything directly in the center... meaning Tverskaya/Pushkinskaya/Kuznetsky Most/Teatralnaya. You'll also be fine in the Mayakovskaya area, or Chisty Prudy.

And obviously the apartment itself is important. Things it MUST have include:

Cosmos (satellite TV): chicks love it, especially pros
Stereo with CD player: no music equals no fun
Refrigerator: obviously
Nice bathroom: very rare to actually get one though... most Russian bathrooms are Soviet
Modern furnishing: usually IKEA style.. also not always possible to get this.

Many people request a safe, not a bad idea but I personally dont use one.

I will be private messaging the experts for some more guidance.However,this is another general question.I have been browsing ads for short term apartments for rent in Moscow and St.Petersburg.I found an apartment online and these are the closest subway stations to it.Local Metro Stations

However,they did mention that this was right out side of the Garden Ring.Is this a good location or walking distance to the happening spots. ANother one I found was this metro station called Tverskaya and antoher called the White House Apartment at Arbatskaya
Out of this three which ones would you recommend?The rent is reasonably cheap for a 3 bedroom apt.

Day 4.

Four things to pass to you:

1) Try to meet the girl from the Internet at their apartment first time. It costs only around 50 $ 100) for an hour. The feel between you is important. I could have spent the whole week with Dasha.

2) Unneccesary to say, but show the girls respect and do some unusually things for them. It pays off. My trick is a nice bunch of flowers (in Denmark) and giving them massage while enjoying their body reactions. It could be meeting in a restaurant having dinner first or...

3) Never enter even a policecar! with more than one person in it.

4) Make your preparations and you will get a much better chance for good experiences.

The whole trip except for the air ticket amounted to $ 2.350, or < 400 $ per night, or < $ 300 per girl. Food, lodging, visa, girls, sightseeing and all included.

One of my previous visits to Moscow, a firend of my buddy took me one of the Big Brother's Spa. You need connections to get in.

Any way, I am planning to arrange another weekend visit(38 hours long) in April. But this time I would like to try Spa/Massage.

I know there are hundreds of ads. on web and various sites. But do you have any recommandations or warnings from your experiences?

bono... 3 BR apts are hard to find. You may want to consider a 2 BR with another one close by you should be able to negotiate a good deal if you have two apartments and if you book early.

Registration is not a problem but you could plan to pay $40 or $50 each for it. PM me and I´ll give you the details. Even with all of the hassles, apartments are still the way to go in the FSU.

Plan to stay inside of the Garden Ring. From there you can go anyplace without a problem and without too much expense. If you have any other questions, I will be happy to try to answer them for you.

Madahos is probably the only other place, besides Black, where you might find Moscow quality chicas. And the prices should be a little better, they don't have quite the attitude.

If I were you, I would not rent a place too far from the center(Garden Ring). You may take the Metro during the day time and at night take the irregular taxi.

Depends on location and accomodities but according to my humble opion you may pay $150 per day for a 3 bedroom apartment.

I may write the name wrong but it spells like "Inaleks" Moscow based travel agency. They handle registration for 300 rubles. They also have taxi services, but I recommand you to negotiate with the drivers at the airport. It's fun :-) PM me for the number.

Even if you know Russian, don't speak it with Milita. Your problems will grow and need to pay more bribe. Especially at the Metros, don't talk too loud to show that you're a foreigner.

My 2 buddies and I are planning a trip to Moscow this thankgiving.We are already looking into all our options and would appreciate your input.I was thinking of renting a 3 bedroom apartment for a week instead ofa hotel,but I guess the registration is going to be problem if I stay at a hotel.That is what I made out after reading all the posts.Secondly,what area do you think we should try to find our apartment in.Somewhere I hope where therea re good bars,restaurants and most importantly girls.Third,how much do you think a 3 bedroom apartment for a week cost.

Arrived in Buenos Aires this afternoon and scoped out several of the clubs tonight... I want to tell you that so far, I am not that impressed. Weather is probably better year round, but so far, for the price, as expensive as Moscow is, I´ll take Moscow hands down. Girls at Shampoo and Blacks were very nice, but wanted $100 for 1 hour and seemed to have little flex in the pricing. Still, to be fair, I must spend more time there, but don´t judge by my very limited exposure here... I´ve got another 20 nights here and my thoughts may change for the better. However, at this point, even with the winter, I´ll stay in RU and endure the cold and pollution. I´ll eventually post any photos on the Argentina page.

Some of my friends still think that I am crazy but they have no idea about the joy and exciment of 36 hours long trip. It was frustrurating but worth it.

I will arrange another 36 hours long tour on 23-24 April. New clubs and resturants and new girls.

I don't remember the adresses but I will find it, Molly is next to a popular Ozbek resturant(Ses Bes).

...one reason I like pros! But personal taste is personal taste... still, the typical market for guys like us is quite cosmopolitan in that respect. I mean, they all have MTV, read Cosmo, watch Sex in the City and chat among themselves on what guys like. Most guys like shaved bush, so most dyevs are hobby hairdressers.

The freebie type are often shaved or at least trimmed. The only untrimmed freebies I have had were the very inexperienced virginal type or the 30+ type... almost all girls between 18-30 will be at least trimmed, some delightfully bare.. but most are the the landing strip kind.
