So, I am about to take this trip to Moscow in July (wow time flies). So I had an idea to preemptively prepare for this trip, so that I wouldn't have a repeat of my experience in Buenos Aires last year (see that forum for the gory details). I was thinking about laying the groundwork now for establishing contacts in Moscow so that I could make the most of my 2 weeks there. What inspired this post is the abject failure of a technique I employed in preemptively prepare for this trip. Admittedly, this technique is old and outdated, and this is probably why it failed. But beside the technique, the site I used could be classified as a "bunk lead" (due to changes in the game, not for anything disingenuous of course). But I did learn a lesson (valued at $35) about the nature of the game in that part of the world. Because you see, this lead was probably considered solid not that long ago.

So now I am thinking about the game in general, and more particularly, how fast it changes. It used to be that the game changed about every 5 years, but now it seems as if the game is changing about every 2 years. The rate of change seems to be an escalating curve rather than a constant. Part of that change, are the efficacy of the leads we use in our little hobby.

And that begs the question about the leads mentioned in this thread. There are about half a dozen or so leads mentioned here within the last year or so. But I wonder, how many (if any) are bunk at this point? Thoughts? Intel?
