Thanks Kosher. Asinette is the name we were trying to remember! She was good, and Cherubino should have waited for her last weekend.

Cool Beans, Cherubino really has to wonder why you were so targeted. You produced one great map. Did you take notes? And did you maybe look like some kind of troublemaking reporter or investigator when you did? Or maybe it was the Rolex?

  5. #478
The ever intrepid monger Cherubino made another appearance in BT on Saturday night. It took real effort because a busted radiator hose left the wheels dead on the side of the road. FYI: If you have AAA they will come into Mexico to tow a disabled vehicle to a garage on the US side, but the can come only to the Mexican side of the bridge and/or the permits office to cancel a temporary importation permit. Break down and you are looking at one Mexican wrecker to get you TO the bridge and then AAA to get across it. Twice the fun!

Anyhow, the big adventure delayed arrival a few hours. Papagayos was full at midnight. Marabu almost empty, as usual. Supposed to call Borderjumper tonight but his phone number was locked up in the vehicle now on the other side of the river… along with all the credit cards, debit card, and real wallet. Nothing in the pockets but box of TicTacs and the fake wallet with US$200 and the drivers license. Hadn't yet read Cool Beans adventure so was not worried about getting in a taxi alone.

Tonight’s outing resulted in a forgettable f*ck. Said her name was Angelina from Monterrey. Slim, C-cups, great legs, striped hair, nice smile but with buck teeth. Turned out to be a PPP (Professional Platinum Pussy): no kissing, and she was good at positioning herself so the monger can’t get his hands on the tits or pussy. Real quick to put her bra and panties back on as soon as Cherubino came. Otherwise, spent the whole time whining about a propina. Asked for $100 but bargained down to $60. Money up front. She said the room was $26 so there ain’t any doubt about whose pocket the extra $10 went into. This PPP should be avoided. Let’s send her back to Monterrey.

Anybody? At Papagayos what is the name of the number 8-9 in the backless red designer dress knockoff? Long hair, enhanced chest, been there since July, Did her last summer and is worth repeating.

    Amen Sigue

Cherubino got shaken down a couple of weeks back. The transit cops said the infraction was running a red light... and that for $20 they could make it go away. That just did not seem like the time to be asking for their badge numbers.

Here two weeks later, yeah should have looked for numbers or some way to ID the crooks. We could then pass it on to Borderjumper!

When this happens, is "business" conducted in English or Spanish? I'm assuming gringos are the primary target, and though I can more or less speak Spanish, I'm afraid they'd pretend not to understand me and/or intentionally speak fast so I couldn't understand for the purpose of intimidation.

Also, are the following Mexican organizations corrupt: army/military, customs, federal police? Or just the local police?

BTW, if you had an ATM card with a daily limit, and they tagged you after midnight, would it be a bad idea to bring up "daily limit" (i.e. would that cause them to hold you for another day so you can go withdraw more?)

I also wonder if credit card companies would help with this. Whenever I withdraw any significant amount of cash from an ATM in Mexico from my credit card, they disable cash advance altogether, and call me asking if there was fraud.

I've made on the order of 50 trips to BT (PN & NL) in the past 6 months, and have driven all around NL a LOT during the midnight-4AM timeframe, so it's a small miracle I haven't been tagged yet. I wonder if Piedras is any safer? I see MUCH fewer police there than in Laredo (lots of military, but they seem honest and don't even try hassling gringos).

Borderjumper I'm sure your advice is right on. But at the moment, I can't quite picture myself saying "Senor, deme por favor su numero de distintivo" (if that's even the right way to say it). You feel INTIMIDATED when they have your keys, your ID, and your butt is in their JAIL...

Like I say, it's going to KEEP happening as long as there's an overload of underpaid cops in NL, no matter what the Palacio or the camara de comercio may prefer.

If they prey on us, it will makes the poverty worse there. Mexico really does need US dollars.

My guess is Jumper is correct. They would act very fast since you are not just some kid causing trouble. You are spending money. The last thing they want is discourage tourists with dollars.

    Larry!

First thing you should have done was got their badge numbers, vehicle numbers, and reported their asses to the Palacio downtown or at the main Police station in Centro.

Since the events of 1 August, these guys are running scared and I am surprised to read this report.

If you have any of this information, it is still not too late to report it and I guarentee you something will be done about it.

Man that sucks Cool Beans. What they did is nothing short of kidnapping--in this case an "ATM- or "Express-kidnapping."

Unfortunately, kidnapping is still endemic in Mexico--just take a look at the US State Department Consular Information Sheet . It was endemic in the US too up to the 1930s, but was almost totally eradicated after it was made a federal crime--a rare success story, I guess.

About going back: I hope I have enough self control NOT to, at least until the drug violence settles down and all the extra cops get out of town. Why then? Well it's fundamental--if you have that many underpaid cops around town, they WILL prey on BT mongers, who are lucrative, easy targets.

    cool beans,

i can't blame you for your attitude after all that. hmmm... i've missed all the new happenings (corruptions) as i haven't been down to nl since 11 july. sorry to hear you lost a good chunck of change to freeloaders.

but as mic said, "your number was up." sometimes these things happen. i've been in a situation like that one time before in bt myself. well, actually, i was with a guy that got pulled over after leaving bt and they (freeloading cops) walked away with about 150 from us. actually, i only had 10 on me so that is all i lost.

i never bring anything with me to bt except cash and a texas dl. i figure that if i don't have an atm card the cops aren't going to shake me down for more than what is in my pocket. so far, i have minimized my loses and avoided the pokey. i hope my luck keeps up.

thanks for the report about your troubles. the next time i go to nl i'll keep my eyes peeled and avoid walking around alone.

    poster...

Cool Beans thats a real bummer what you went through and it don't freakin matter what I tell you you will still be madder than hell. The main thing is you are alright yea that is the main thing not the money, granted its still sucks you lost your money and were a victim of corupt officials but you were not physically harmed. When we travel to foreign countries there is always an element of danger especially to us tourist/mongers, unfortunatley this time your number was up. Better luck in the future.
    Mic Jagger.

None of the new drugs available yet in MExico to my knowledge. ie: Levitra and Ciallis. Viagra only.

About the DVD's. Why come to Mexico to buy them. They are a hell of a lot cheaper in the U.S. than in Mexico. Electronic components the same. Ridiculously expensive!

    Hello everybody,

I was wondering does anybody knows of any other options to take instead of Viagra?
And of course if there is any other options, can I get them in Mexico.

Usually I get Viagra in Mexico, but I will like to try something else.

    Thanks everybody.
