Seriously though. I've read the articles about the kidnappings and I wonder the circumstances surrounding them and where they occurred.

For as long as I've lived down here, I;ve never felt threatened or intimidated by the people or the environment. As with everything though, there are two sides to the story.

I was just down there for the Papa's Christmas Party. Kind of fun... but most of BT was closed. Finally got a nce piece of sweetie pie at Maribu. Oh Yes! Anyway... I was told that the kidnappings were pretty much all drug related. If you don't mess around in that area and specifically the Mexican Mafia. you should be OK. I too never have felt any danger in Mexico. Of course it always pays to try and watch you back and steer clear of questionable situations.

With all the kidnappings, it's tempting to carry a pistol, but that's not the answer. If the police frisk you, you will pay dearly for packing a gun. I personally feel the NL police target gringos for shake downs, although they will fuck with local residents also. Just my opinion.

That kidnapping wave sounds pretty bad, but I'm still going down for New Years; Dec. 31 - Jan. 2. I know the shit would hit the fan if the policia searched me, but I always take my 10 mm with me for any unanticipated trouble, such as narcotraffickers who feel the need to kidnap and/or kill me. I've been down over 10 times and never had a problem. It doesn't sound like they're targeting gringos anyway.

Anybody know if there will be a good selection of chicas left in the compound during this period, or is gonna be slim pickings for this trip?

The pickings usually get slim around that time (Dec. 31 - Jan. 2.). Many of the girls leave right after tomorrow's party to spend Christmas with their family. Also, New Year's in Mexico is a family tradition (much like Thanksgiving here). So, many stay home (some of them come from as far away as Acapulco) until after New Year's. One year I went for New Year's and some high rollers took the few hot one's left to a party at their ranch. All I can say is good luck.

Can you or anyone monitoring this board confirm that the party is on at Papa's for this coming Tuesday, December the 21st? Will the other clubs be open too? This is probably the last chance to find a rich crop in BT this year and it sounds life fun! Thanks for any information. I'd hate to take off on the 22nd and drive all the way down there, only to be disappoinbted.

Shit hit the fan? You will go to jail, no ifs, ands, or buts. Do some research on that, they will nail you even for a single bullet in your possesion. You might be able to buy your way out, but it will cost you thousands of dollars.
Carrying a gun into Mexico will get you in serious trouble, and the cops there have been known to shake gringos down for no reason. Damn man. I won't even carry fingernail clippers there that have a knife blade on them.
