    architectural history - post 1 of 2

I'm intrigued by the history of the NL BT zona. I've been there twice, both times during the slow period between Xmas and New Years, and both times during the week. Granted, I was going on a slow day on a slow week, but after 10-11 PM or so it seemed to be fairly busy, with many cars crusing up and down the streets examining door girls. Nevertheless I distinctly sense that the NL BT was much busier and much more glamorous at some point in the past.

    Here's why I think this:

    1) I sense that fully 1/3 or more of the available bar spaces are vacant/abandoned. For example, referring to the Boys Town map that is posted elsewhere in this forum, there are a number of vacant bars on the right-most street where the cartographer says, "dark and deserted - avoid at night." Elsewhere the map notes several lots are closed, implying that there is a building there but it is not in use.

    2) Those clubs that are open seem under-utilized. Tamyko has an intriguing water park / pond / fountain setup, but it's dry and they don't even use that room, although it is lighted. Marabu also has some intriguing architecture: the north doors show that someone put some effort into designing the building. Also the display / sculpture behind the bar likewise shows some care and talent. In my informal analysis Marabu is the largest BT club in terms of square footage, with nice tables and arm chairs, but I can't imagine it being anywhere close to half full even on a busy night. Please correct me if I'm wrong: it is possible that these perceptions of under-utilization could be due to the date I was visiting.

    3) Again referring to the BT map, in the upper-right corner, I guess that would be the NW corner, there is an abandonded club inaccessible because of weeds, and a curious arch structure that I sense at one point was an entrance to the compound. It seemed to have a late-50s / early 60s style about it. The entire zona, and this NW region in particular, remind me of the abandonded war-torn Vietnamese cities in the movie Full Metal Jacket.

    4) I sense that very little new construction has occured in the past 30-40 years. Considering how the zona is currently maintained, which is not very well, I doubt that anyone today would be willing to invest money to create the quality of structures exemplified by Marabu, Tamyko, and Papagayos. Granted Papagayos seems fairly full.

Overall I sense that the compound was planned and built to support a much larger volume of business than it currently does. Perhaps when BT was built there was more local demand: I think I read somewhere about a military base nearby. Perhaps the planners of the compound over-estimated demand, similar to the debacle of Euro-Disney. Please share you thoughts.

Here are some things I'm curious about:

Does anyone have any pictures of the zona "back in the day"? I don't care so much about the girls; I'm just curious how its changed (or hasn't changed) over the years. Surely many pictures have been taken over the years.

Where can I see documents concurrent to the construction of BT, such as plans, timetables, architectural blueprints, etc.? For a neighborhood in the urban U.S. this would be easy to find, but I doubt the Mexican authorities are as well organized.

Who acctually OWNS the bars and door-girl apartments in BT?

When was the compound built? What, if any, planning and direction went into its creation?

The next time I go to NL I'm going to go during the day, take a camera, and photograph these architectural oddities. (I don't plan to deliberately photograph the denizens of BT.) But it will be some time before my resources and schedule permit a return trip. Perhaps if these topics pique the interest of other contributors to this forum they could take some daytime pics for us.

Thanks for reading my post. Any and all tidbits of knowledge are appreciated.

    New Years

Agree with BHuey. BT is dead right now as most of the girls are from the interior of Mexico and are home for the holidays. There are few girls, but there is also very few customers, so this may even out your experience. But if I were you, I would wait until mid January and take advantage that all the girls will be back, refreshed, ready to work, ready to recoup all the money they spent during the holidays!

Note that literally tens of thousands of Mexicans that live in the US will head to Mexico (through Laredo) for about 2 weeks (or more) during the X-Mas/New Years break. Next weekend will be packed on the bridge as many of the Mexicans have kids that need to be back to school, or they need to get back to work. Why should you care? Well, if you plan to drive into Mexico, expect long, slow lines on the bridge. Since most of these families traveled for several weeks, that have packed mini-vans and trucks and Homeland Security will need to inspect these vehicles one by one. Avoid getting behind packed vehicles when heading to border inspection.

    New ears Eve in Boystown

Will be dead, most of the girls won't be back for about another week after, they usually start showing back up the weekend after New Years. If I was going to Mexico for New Years, I would go to Ciudad Acuna. I have never been there, but I hear most of the girls that work there, aalso live nearby (whereas most NLBT girls are from Monterrey, Tampico, and so on), that way they can come to party for New Years. Don't go to NLBT, you will be dissappointed.

Has anyone been to boystown on New Years Eve? Will there be many ladies there? AM thinking about driving down from Austin.

    GLOCK on Camcorder question

I do not think it a good idea to bring a camcorder to BT. That is if you expect to get home with it. Cops will probably take it if they see it. You will not be able to use it in the clubs and probably not on the street. Most of the girls will not let you use in the rooms. Too many have had their photo put on the web in the past. Most will not allow still photos and a camcorder would be over kill.

Of course there are exceptions to ever rull in Mex.

A couple of years ago Pimp Daddies would probably allow it but they closed down.

Went by the compound on Thursday at just before midnight. Most of the door girls were gone and a few of the clubs seemed to be empty or even closed. The usual X-Mas exodus as the girls as the rest of Mexico seems to leave for home for the holidays.

Found this new girl name Donna. By BT standards she was tall, thin and in shape. She was at the scuzzy green building on the middle street. Donna said that she arrived about a week ago in NL to party and wound up at BT. Donna has short frizzy hair that is black with painted blond at the ends. When I got her to the room I noticed that her skinny look didnt look so bad as she seemed to have a bit of tone to her so I decided for the extra $10/sin ropa deal. Well worth it! Her breasts are very small but her thin body was smooth and she did not have that bag of bones feel. Also, those lonnnng legs. Whew! She has several tattoos, but they were actually well done unlike those prison or ugly ink that some of the girls have. In bed, Donna was enthusiastic and seemed to like what she was doing! She didnt look at her watch and was willing to please.

I spoke with her for a few minutes afterwords and she said that she her parents are from Puerto Rico. But that she moved to Mexico when she was a young girl. That explained the frizzy hair and more exotic look compared to the indigenous look many of the girls have. I didnt ask her age but my guess is from 22-25. Hard to tell as she might be older but her body was in great shape and this might give the youthful look. For what its worth, Donna was dressed more modern than most of the girls and seemed to be more "withit" with what is going on.

Newbie to Boy's Town, is it a good idea to bring a camcorder?

My friend and I are going to be in Texas next month. We are planing to drop by Boy's Town, while we are there. My friend wants to bring his camcorder to make his own home video. He got away with it in Tijuana before, but I'm not sure if it is a good idea to try the same thing in Boy's Town. Should he bring it? and is there anything else we should know?

    Papa's Christmas Party

Attended my first Papagayos feliz navidad party last night by accident. Did no go to the zona for that reason but am I ever glad that I ended up there.

These cats know how to throw a party! All girls in evening gowns and prom dresses. There must have been 150 girls there all willing and able. It seemed like a big party though with sex on the side if you wanted that. They had a live band and the girls looked fantastic. They really got into this night. A lot of time and effort made this a great party. Seemed like all of the events of the passed year were forgotten and everyone just wanted to have a good time. There was a bunch of dancing, drinking and I'm sure a bunch of good fucking and sucking.

Thanks Papas for a great party!

    Sancho

Were any of you other guys there?

    Constitutional change

Relatively minor guys as opposed to the effort it take to pass and amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Simply put, they amendment gives State and Municipal Police the authority to pursue and apprehend Drug Smugglers and others that in the past the Federal Highway Police, The AFI (Mexican FBI) and Attorney General's Police only had authority to pursue and/or investigate.

Last week, 50 more officers of the Nuevo Laredo force were terminated because they did not meet the new standards for officers as set out by the government in Mexico City.

Possibly, you will see even less corruption in the ranks of the street officers.

I want to be wrong, but with the level of corruption on local level (Federals rarely take bribes) we can expect more troubles with police in NL.

Hmm... I live on the border and I read alot of online newspapers from other border cities, and I have NOT head anything about Mexico changing thier constitution. What has happened is that the Fed. Gov't. in Mex. has given them some more rights(not really), beacause of all the problems, but as far as I know, they ARE NOT equal in anyway to any one else; all this is from the gov't. trying to clean up the cities and police forces.

    Chica in Danash

Was in NL 2 weeks ago and hung out in Danash for a few. Met this smoking hot girl named "Lily". Long VERY curly hair and a great athletic body. I am guesing 34 D's. She was lots of fun (and of course pumped me for lots of drinks). Shot me a big $$$ amount to go to the hotel and I shot her down. I've thrown out some cash for some good action but she seemed a little agressive. Was thinking about going this week a seeing if I could negotiate with her to spend a couple of days. Any body know her and is she worth going back for?

You're absolutely right. If you don't look for trouble, most likely you'll be safe.
I'm staying in NL one - two weeks at the time and never had problems.

I'm sure that there is some "collateral" and innocent people getting killed. But 99.9% who are killed or kidnapped are involved in drugs.

There's one history that I know from the first hand. Bad cop who found himself connected to a wrong cartel was affraid of being killed. All his neighbors knew that he'll be killed. His wife moved out with children to Monterrey. One women living next block told me: " I hope they will kill him away from my home" He eventually got killed just at the front of her house.

I was really puzzled why he didn't run away. I was told that he was fired from work few weeks before his killing and stayed in NL, because was collecting unemployment money.

So far, I feel safer in NL than in certain areas of NY or Chicago.

You are correct. I have lived in NL for 5 years now, 3 years before that in Cd. Juarez and since August, I have a home in Celaya Guanajuato that I split my time at
