I would be careful to avoid hassle. I would definitely take your pics off of your camera.

One time I was coming into the US. They looked through my stuff. Lot's of sex toys.- no problem. They found nasty porno DVDs. The funny thing is that I bought them in the US took them to the RP and then was bringing them back. They said "it didn't matter".- whatever. They have nothing better to do. I am sure they would love to look at your GFs pics. Anyway, big waste of time. In a court of law, in my case, I am sure there is no problem if you showed that you bought them at a legitimate store in the US. Hey.- maybe you could bring your GF over as a witness. Still plenty annoying.

Since you presumably don't have scans of the IDs from the chicks in RP (not like IDs in RP are legit), I am not sure how it would turn out. However, I think the onus is on them to prove you have done something wrong. (innocent until proven guilty). That said, take the photos off of your camera. Innocent or guilty.- avoid the hassle.

If you're really worried about this, open an account with an online storage facility. Upload all your "questionable" material before you travel, delete it off your computer (wipe the disk, if you're really paranoid), then you can download once you arrive at your destination.

Word of advice before you try this though - read the agreements to make sure the site doesn't prohibit certain types of content.

Upon arriving at LAX a couple of years ago, I was detained by a young smartass customs agent who made me turn on my camera and computer and literally spent 15 minutes looking at every photo on both devices. Luckily, I had another SD card stashed, so everything he saw was general tourist info and I was pretty much laughing in his face the entire time. When he finally "dismissed" me, he was livid and I was loving it.

I got so annoyed after the fact that I contacted the supervisor of customs at LAX and had a very pleasant phone conversation with him. I told him that I was totally disrespected, talked down to by someone much younger than me and almost accused of hiding contraband minor photos without any evidence at all. The supervisor assured me that this particular agent would be in his office within the next 30 minutes to discuss the matter and this type of interaction is not tolerated at LAX customs. I had flown in from BKK via Taipei and had also been in Vietnam and Cambodia on that trip.

I am not sure if that meeting with the agent actually happened, but I felt that the supervisor was sincere and respectful to me.

The bottom line is the same that everyone has expressed here--they do have the right to completely tear your stuff apart and make your life miserable, so make sure and take the proper precautions to avoid this. I was ignorant and lucky--at the time, I didn't believe that they actually could invade your privacy in that manner, but they can!

I will be in Manila and want to photo and record my gf nude. I was worried about going through customs do they or have they ever checked the pics on your camera? If they do what should I do? I was thinking of buying 2 memory cards but where do I hide the 2 card? I don"t even know if it is illegal.

As long as it ain't hard core and the girl has fur they won't do anything. The agents are looking for kiddy porn and snuff films, drugs, or bootleg stuff. It is funny how they always let the Asians go by and stop the Gringos. Better to NOT try to hide something from them. Never take pics of the poor Pinoy folks because their kids are running around without drawers. The wrong agent might consider that KP and bust you. I had the agents come across pics of naked girls and me horsing around and they just kind of grinned. Now if she is real small and clean shaven, you might be taking a chance because even a shaven mid 20's pinay with a couple of kids from over there can look like a minor.

Best bet is download all your photos etc to a thumb drive. Then, delete all photos from your camera, etc. If possible, wipe them clean with software. Then, go to an internet cafe and upload off your thumb drive to a blind email account. Clean the thumbdrive with software or just get rid of it.

I suggest you use zip and then eraser. With a zip program you make a .zip file password protected. Use winzip, or maybe follow this guide http://www.dslreports.com/faq/8730

Use eraser http://eraser.heidi.ie/ to delete and move files. This program delete the content, while windows delete only delete the filename. You can easily repeat this every morning to hide last nites tracks. If you use delete by a mistake, use eraser to scan the whole disk/usb but that takes a lot of time.

If you are (too) serious about this, you leave some normal pictures in you camera. If anyone ever ask, the holes in your pictures series is since you deleted some pictures right away. And you even change the date of the .zip files, since its very easy to find the last files.

Google search a free program called Irfanview. It is one of the best image viewers out there. You can crop and/or resize pictures, use it with a scanner, and add text. Your picture may be in BMP format (which is very large). Irfanview will allow you to save it as a JPG which will result in a much smaller file. The last suggestion may be all you need to do.

Irfanview is also "portable" as it does not install. Thus, you can run it from a thumb drive. The installation process simply copies it to a folder. If you want, you can simply take the Irfanview.exe file and run it anywhere.

Brief instructions on cropping in Irfanview:

1. Open your image

2. Move mouse over a corner of the image.

3. Hold down left mouse button and drag (to create a selection box)

4. Release the button and your desired area is selected.
a. Click outside this box to cancel and start over.
b. Clicking inside the box will zoom to that selected area.
c. Holding down the right button will allow you to move the selection box.

5. Once the area to crop is selected, there are two ways to crop.
a. One is to hold down CTL and hit Y
b. The other is to go to the Edit menu and select Crop Selection

Generally speaking nobody checks the camera.
I always advice this to all the people who take pictures. Download the pictures on to a computer ( you can do this in internet cafe also) and e mail
to your personal e mail. Delete the pics from the card and also the computer.
This way you have nothing to worry about.

I've had Philippines Officials go through my equipment. It was obviously a slow day for bribes :D . So it's not just USA officials. There are programs like TrueCrypt you can use (free programs).

I normally travel with two laptops and I sometimes travel with two DSLR's, a waterproof camera, a pocket camera, and two digital hard drive camcorders. My worse case was showing every friggin computer and camera and memory stick to officials and missing my connecting flight.

If they get bitchy they can look at every memory stick and they are not always as dumb as you think they are. If you want to be safe, email them to a blind email account or secure them up in your computer with some encryption someplace.
