And you'll probably find out most of what you want to know. It's supposed to be an upmarket boutique hotel so it will not be cheap. I wouldn't be surprised to find a few pre Ramadhan bookings as I'm intending to do the same myself. .
I did visit their website and was interested in anyone with personal experience.

On the more important question: is it normal that pre-R weekend, things book up? I usually don't shop hotels but notice many of the non-5 star chains are fully booked that weekend?

WTF, looked to book for July 12-15 and almost nothing available. Is there a pre-Ramadan orgy going on that weekend? .

Re Alila Hotel in Kemang, couple of questions [pricey, almost as much as the Shangrila]:

    1. What's the difference BTW inner and edge suites.

    2. Is one quieter?

    3. Also, is the pool long enough for laps?

It's off the path a bit and it's' on a quiet side street. No pool but a small gym with unusable equipment, no restaurant but breakfast is included. Ok for a night or two.
I was wondering about that place - near to the ITC and Ambasador Mal right?*

I've went through the forum and most posts are about staying close to these hotels. I've done a search but it doesn't turn up any proper results. I've only got a few days so I'd prefer to stay at the hotel.

How are the rooms? Service? Breakfast? Noise? Can girls be brought to your own room instead of the regular rooms? Is there a seperate entrance or exit for the actual hotel rooms?

    Thanks in advaance.
    To Norweez.

There are many post about the hotel room on hotel travel and classic hotel you just too lazy to search, hotel travel sauna is next to hotel travel seperate entrance small 3 star hotel room are old air con don't work too well, there are many other hotel in the area at Manga Besar that are much better walking distance, hotel classic is a nice 3 star hotel only 10 min taxi away book full msot local stay there and you need to paid in full upfront by phone reservation, most of the girl will not leave the sauna but the sauna room are clean with nice bed.

Have changed habits from Alila. Raise of corporate rate in 2012. To Morrissey, a nice place between hotel (good spacious rooms, ok service, free wifi, free breakfast acceptable in terms of choice and quality with an egg station) and serviced appartments (no mini bar, kitchen in room, no room service.).

I am looking for an option of hotel or serviced appartments with a nice pool in the range from 650 000 to 750 000 per night for three nights in a relatively central area.

The reference for me is definitely Morrissey, except the pool in Morrisse sucks, cause there are no sunbathing options.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi FT,

I'm not sure you need to explain yourself in the first line as anyone can check by looking at your profile.

You'll be hard pushed to get decent serviced apartments at that price. Batavia (to my mind) is quite unpleasant, Aryaduta Semanggi and Somerset are too expensive (let's not even look at Ascott, Fraser, Oakwood etc) and some others are too far out. You can check Belleza Suites by Maven (?) or sometimes maybe Kuningan suites or Aston Rasuna available on Agoda at cheap rates at times. It's in Permata Hijau behind Mulia Senayan and close to Somerset Berlian. Perhaps at that budget, you should stick to hotels where you do have quite a choice: Aryaduta (the hotel) has some offers now, Harris at FX (prices vary) Akmani (but the pool isn't great) and maybe Manhattan. Does anyone know what the pool is like at the nearby Ibis hotels?

    Hi Fast Eddie,

I was at Hotel Travel last week, and still paid 300k (plus 50k to the girl tip). Thought it was strange this time that I paid to the mama san at the point of purchase, but no additional charges when I went upstairs or when I checked out, so all good.

If you want overnight, go out to the road behind Hotel travel, take a right then there is a place within 30 meters that you can get take out girls overnight for 800k.

    Friendly

Ah, yet again, another total newbie asking questions.

    Hey, Versalio, read the forum!

And even if Travel suddenly changes their price, it won't increase by much. So pack 500, 000 rupiah in your wallet and just go with the flow, enjoy your visit, then post a kick-ass report here of what happened during your visit.

And you said that you're "planning a visit." From where? And, assuming you're coming from a country other than the US, why haven't you posted any interesting reports of your past escapades before now?

    Amaris Mangga Besa hotel

    Gents,

I visited Jakarta in May 10-17 and stayed at Amaris Mangga besa during the newbee trip to this city. This hotel is at the very conveniennce location and actually a family orientations hotel. That was fine to me as I did not want to bring back any girl to my room and freelance hunting never a my cup of tea. The hotel is close to the major intersection with Olimo transjakarta in front of Mercure hotel. Overall, I was very satisfied with the hotel staff and services. The breakfast buffet was just outstanding with plenty of good foods and fruits and of course tea and coffee and juice from 7am til 10am. Free for all guest. The hotel will catch a blue bird taxis for me if I need to go the Classic hotel for only 30, 000rp (minimum charge). The only downside is the room lack of refridg to keep milk and other cool foods. However, with the cost to pay and the great location, the Amaris Mangga besa is hard to beat.

The truth is that Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country, and none of the hotels here are girl-friendly. Shangri-La is particularly unfriendly to that scene; the one bar here, named BATS (the initials stand for "Bar At The Shangri-La") , has a "No females allowed" sign posted at the entrance, and the waitresses all wear the "hijab" headdress that totally covers their head, hiding all of their hair.

Hope this post helps. Bottom line. You're better off travelling to Pattaya to monger.
Hahahahahahahaha absolutely agree with you there. He is indeed better off looking elsewhere.

Anyhow, anywhere in this hotel you need a high tolerance for street noise and the Mosque will wake you up without fail at 4:00 am.

Otherwise, Wayhid Hasim is about as pedestrian friendly area of town there is, with things and services, and some pub bars. For anyone who likes to change their hotels as much as they like to change their girls, many viable places to stay on this street. Thanks for noting the syriah place.
My apologies Golfinho, I am familiar with the hotel. If not the 1 bedroom suite. The noise doesn't bother me and I don't really drink much. But point duly noted.

I would rather say you can stay at your own risk but they are not really friendly at all, but in Pattaya you can stay and be a friendly guest.
