I liked Hotmen in the noughties. Low grade but nice. Arab mixes.

Yes it is. Hotel Mercure Cikini is in a nice location. Very central. Good restaurants close by. Lara Djongrang, Tugu kunstkring paleis. Hobby wise, it is next to Hotel Menteng 2, in walking distance. Used to be a happening place for bar pick-ups. Low grade though, but not so sure how it is nowadays, much has changed in recent years.

I"ll be travelling to Jakarta in Feb. And booked a room in Pullman Jakarta. Are the entertainment outlets and restaurants are closeby? What would you suggest during daytime like any conducted tours around Jakarta?

The name of the bar was just the result of the Indonesian preference of speaking in abbreviations (Hotel Menteng), but I thought you knew that.

I was joking. Yes, I knew that bar had hot women back in the day. But I have to admit that I have never been there. It had already lost popularity by the time I arrived in the late 90s.

Exactly. I remember some of the girls were like 18-20. With big tits and a huge waistline.

However the bar is too grotty, I couldn't stomach it and only went a few times, ages ago.

I'm planning to visit Jakarta at the end of November I would Like to know if Mercure hotel Simatupang allows me to bring guest to the room.

That area has horrible traffic, so if you are working near there, it makes sense to avoid traffic to and from work. And it is girl friendly. However, unless you are working in the Simatupang area, I would not stay there. That is so far out that I hardly even consider that area to be Jakarta. To go from there to anywhere with entertainment would be a nightmare.

Yes. In saying that you're quite far from any action and the area is notorious for traffic, so I would re-think your hotel choice if you have any control over it.

Around 1994 the men I saw congregating there were all Indonesians and the amount of girls was declining at a great rate. That's why I stopped going to the Hotmen Bar.

Is that the former Hotmen Bar? Long ago (1991) that was a great pick up place but a few years later it was taken over by the gay scene and I haven't been there since.
