You are correct that trusting experts is not a function of science. However, you are incorrect, it is NOT the opposite of science. It's neither. One should choose to trust experts, since they are practicing science, but know that some data in science can change over time. When it does, the experts, if real practicioner of science, should change their thesis to reflect new data.

Unfortunately, not all of us are experts at EVERY subject, so we rely on ones who are. I go to the doctor because he / she gives me the best chance to fight an illness. I can go to you tube and my probability goes down. I can't ask a doctor about repair my car, mechanics are better at it. This is because they have more knowledge and experience in that particular field than we do, so we often put their opinion ahead of our. Could they be wrong? Yes, they can be wrong, but they're usually correct more often than not.

I like taking concensus of science matter, because not all scientists agree on any given subject matter. But a majority agreement of it is a better way to determine what is correct conclusion. Does that mean that 20,30,50,100 years from now it will still be correct? NO, ie the world is not flat as thought hundreds of years ago. Difference is we have better technology to measure things with now vs. 500 years ago. So science today is more precise than before, not perfect, just more precise.

Fun fact, science main battle ground is peer review. A scientist can write any thesis they want, but if it can not be duplicated, it is garbage science.

RFK also said that where the border wall has openings that need to be fixed that Trump bought millions of dollars of supplies to fix the wall. Apparently, Biden's people according to RFK hated Trump so much that they used taxpayer money to buy their own supplies and left Trump's material to rot.

So getting back to the OP asking do the indictments surprise me? No, the lawyers bringing the charges against Trump are not "experts" but political hacks and those of us who know how the justice system works are not shocked about Trump getting indictments. The surprising to me is not that there are indictments but that there has not been an assassination attempt on Trump.

They are brought by trained Federal and State prosecutors who look at the evidence and decide whether or not it's sufficient enough to move forward. In case of Donald Trump they've already found enough evidence for 4 indictments (and the night is still young).

They are brought by trained Federal and State prosecutors who look at the evidence and decide whether or not it's sufficient enough to move forward. See, according to your new favorite source, polling results are muddied and likely favor a candidate whose most ardent supporters are suddenly more inclined to race to the phone or go online to respond to pollsters, surveys, etc and tell the world what they think when they perceive him to be picked on. That short term pop would likely be most noticeable in close battleground states.
