You are one of the few investors that did not make money on oil stocks. I bought Exxon in 2001 for $31.90 per share. Since 2001 the share price has been as high as $110 offering investors to cash out at a profit or as I have done just taken the 5-6% dividend every year. Current dividend is 6. 4% which I consider a good return. I bought EOG in 2002 for $10.25 per share and it is $65 today. EOG has paid dividend of 2-4% every year. Bought Conoco Phillips for $20 currently $53 paying 3. 31% dividend. Oil companies have historically paid between 3-6% dividends to shareholder besides their stock prices increasing. I never ever heard major oi companies promising sky high returns Must be a CNN thing. I am sure you are making millions of dollars on the solar and wind industry stocks.

You are correct about one thing. Oil companies have spent billions on investing in USA drilling resulting in USA not being dependent on foreign oil and not having to start wars to protect foreign oil. Consumers have benefited the most with cheap pump prices the last 4 years. But Biden is fixing that. We will kill our oil industry and buy our oil from the Middle East. Already working for Biden. Gas prices have gone up 80 cents a gallon since Biden took office and will go up at least another. 50 to $1. 00 per gallon in the next few months. ERCOT says 46,000 megawatts were offline as of Wednesday. There are 70 to 80 power plants offline as of Wednesday, out of 680 across the state. Thermal energy -- natural gas, coal and nuclear -- made up 28,000 of those megawatts while wind and solar made up the other 16,000.

"The ability for gas generators to produce, particularly at full output, was affected by the freezing impact on the natural gas supply," Bill Magness, ERCOT president and CEO, said during a livestream Wednesday. "So getting those resources back is the central solution to getting people their power back. ".

Approximately 40% of generators went offline due to the cold weather. The significant drop in power generated led to rolling blackouts across the state as ERCOT tried to keep a balance between the supply and demand in order to prevent a "catastrophic" blackout. This made the outage last much longer than ERCOT anticipated..

As for prepping power plants for extreme cold to prevent generators from freezing, Dan Woodfin, senior director of system operations for ERCOT, says there are national standards being considered, but they have yet to be mandatory.

The reality is wind turbines operate in many freezing climates if you spend the money allow them to operate. Just the same as valves don't freeze instruments don't fail and all the other things don't fail if you spend the money to correct the deficiencies that they experience just 10 years ago. But Texans don't like to spend money they like to be deregulated and put up with failure. I think they should be left to freeze in their own stupidity and greed. Natural gas valves don't freeze up in cold. Canada, Alaska and Siberia were all colder than 40 below in the last month and they didn't have any power failures. The fact is wind will not work in ice storms or sever cold weather efficiently. And then when you have a power outage gas generators or hydroelectric produce high power rates quickly after an outage but wind and solar are slow recovering especially with no sun or wind. Natural gas is why Texas is in crisis. All the valves and control systems don't like the cold so the gas doesn't flow! Solar and wind are taking over because they are cheaper irrespective of government policy. Nuclear is just not economic to build at least not in the US. This week Texas showed what poor policy brings you. They don't plan for freezing weather and when they get it they cannot cope. Doesn't really matter what your political opinion is, how you voted, what news shows you watch -- combustion engines are finished. Ten years from now, gas cars will be like film cameras. As far as the price of gas, it absolutely doesn't matter what Biden does, the (near) long term price of oil is only going one way -- that's down.

Gas cars will still be here 25 years from now. They aren't going anywhere. Most states don't have enough electricity to handle their demand now let alone when half the population switches to electric cars. The electric cars won't be much use without electricity. Heart warming divorce lawyer story.

This is insane, I would have to pay $1,260 for a full tank of gas. I'd be losing more money then I make so it wouldn't even be worth it to work. This would completely destroy our economy the average person still can't even afford electric cars and they are not sustainable either way.
