Here's what really happened. From somebody who was there: "It is false that under president Obama the United States only sent blankets to Ukraine.

Ironically, this lie is being used to give Obama's successor credit for sending Ukraine "lethal defensive weapons", although Trump's campaign worked to keep those words from appearing in the Republican Party platform. And he used his (illegal) power over aid to Ukraine, a desperate fledgling democracy under attack by an authoritarian giant, to shake it down for political favours.

The United States has a bipartisan policy to support Ukraine, seeing the Eastern European country's wellbeing and development as vital to US security. To prevent the Russian Federation from destabilizing Europe, and exporting its invasion, cyber attacks, propaganda, and war further afield.

Under Obama, the United States provided military aid in the form of military training, medical and security advisory teams, body armour, helmets, vehicles, night- and thermal vision devices, heavy engineering equipment, advanced radios, patrol boats, rations, tents, uniforms, and other related items, the United States had also given Ukraine counterbattery radar, used to quickly locate enemy artillery while it's firing.

I watched part of a news program last night and one of the commentators said something that I'd like to share. He said "Everybody has a right to their own opinion but nobody has a right to their own facts. ".

During this time of trump (in other words, since June 16th, 2015 when he announced his candidacy) the far-right has been at war with facts. In fact, I believe it was Donnie's first press secretary who announced that there were "facts" and there were "alternative facts". Most people on the left were incredulous. "Alternative facts? They said, "What exactly are those? Well, everybody knows that "alternative facts" aren't "facts" at all. They are, rather, mis-statements or half-truths or deliberate convolution of events or downright lies.

Or, as the one-term, twice-impeached former guy has famously said "The media is the enemy of the people. " Does the media get everything right all of the time? Nope, not by a long shot.
