FYI, Jimmy Carter is a great human being. He inherited a country in "stagflation". The double digit inflation was the result of OPEC successfully doubling oil prices in 1977-78. Did you ever wonder why the 52 American diplomatic hostages were only released minutes after Reagan was inaugurated? It's because Reagan made a secret deal with the mullahs not to release the hostages in exchange for American weapons. Carter had established a total arms embargo against Iran in 1979. Immediately after Reagan became President, he secretly and illegally rescinded that order and sold weapons to Khomeni. Remember "Arms for Hostages", which was revealed in 1986? Iran-Contra?

Jimmy Carter is everything that Trump is not. Carter was a US naval officer, a truly successful businessman, a long serving state senator, careful Govenor, and an honest, thoughtful, patriotic President. His entire post Presidency has been dedicated to selfless humanitarianism. He never grifted and never cheated. He is a patriot.

Canada, I believe you are an unfortunate victim of the right wing propaganda conspiracy machine. Turn off your teevee. Read actual history before you comment on it. Read about OPEC, read about the causes of inflation in the late 70's, read about Paul Volker, read about why, when and how Reagan sold arms to Khomeni. Turn off Fox for a month and read a book.

And, unlike Reagan, he didn't have to triple the National Debt to do it. His "recession" was one of the shortest and smallest of all time. And it was purposely induced by Fed Chairman Paul Volker by raising Fed Funds rates in order to (drum roll) cool down an overheated economy that was producing many more jobs than there were applicants to take them, triggering wage inflation. No matter, since hyper-inflation was already coming down steadily within 2-3 months of Volker initiating his fix on it.

By contrast, Reagan inherited from Carter a steadily declining unemployment rate in the low 7% range that continued to decline through Reagan's first year in office after a single month high during that purposely induced "recession" (that barely lasted more than 1 quarter in early 1980) of 7.8%, a steadily declining unemployment rate, one of the best jobs creation presidential terms in history (Carter), NO wars, a moderately manageable National Debt and Deficit, two back-to-back quarters while Carter was still president of 7.8% and 8.5% GDP Growth and proceeded to get his idiotic and always failed Supply-Side/Trickle-Down "Reaganomics" policies in place. Whereupon the country soon plunged into what was then the worst economic decline since The Great Republican Depression of the late 1920's/early 1930's. Reagan's Great Recession began at the beginning of 1982, his SECOND year in office and included ten consecutive months of 10%+ Unemployment Rate that extended well into his THIRD year in office.

Was hyper-inflation tamed under Reagan? Yep. But not due to anything he did. Well, unless you count one of the worst Great Republican Recessions in history as something Reagan's economic policies produced in order to bring down inflation that was already declining a year before he took office. It turns out when jobs are being eliminated by the millions, businesses are closing and wages are falling, the prices of housing, rent and automobiles might tend to decline a bit as well.

I know, I know. Despite the data that was easily available and reported on, mainstream media pundits kept telling you, "Carter ruined the economy and Reagan fixed it! Let's have MORE Republicans win elections so they can repeat Reagan's economic policies and results over and over and over again!" So it must be true, right? Except that isn't what Carter did or Reagan did by a long shot.

Did subsequent mainstream media-assisted Republican presidents repeat Reagan's policies and crap results? They sure did. Enter the more than a year long Recession under George H.W. Bush, both Recessions under George W. Bush including one really, really big one and Trump's Great Pandemic Recession that his Supply-Side/Trickle-Down Republican economic legislation did absolutely nothing to mitigate. Republican presidents can't seem to pass up any opportunity to Crash the U.S. economy and wipe out millions of U.S. jobs by any means necessary. They are always there to embrace whatever it takes to do that to the country.

Clinton didn't repeat those Reaganomics policies though. He and his Dems reversed them in 1993. Without a single vote from a Republican in Congress. No Recession. No Bear Market Crash. No massive jobs destruction. Just one of the longest economic expansions, jobs creation records and Bull Markets in history. Oh, and Obama didn't repeat them either. No Recession. No Bear Market Crash. No massive jobs destruction. Just another one of the longest economic expansions, jobs creation records and Bull Markets in history. Again, without a single vote for his American Recovery and Re-investment Act from a Republican in Congress. At least they're consistent.

The best endorsement for Biden's American Rescue Plan's success is that no Republicans in Congress voted for it.
Why do you waste your time writing this nonsense. Even SNL knows Carter was worst president ever. Don't worry Biden has this title locked up already.

That just shows a democrat can change history. Carter is known as the worst president in history by both democrats and republicans and Reagan the best president ever and you change history.

Biden rescue plan destroys America. It is called a rescue plan because the next president is going to have to rescue USA from the destruction it created.

Biden plan to truck and rail oil instead of pipeline really worked well when one pipeline was hacked. Why is gas $7 a gallon on the east USA if you can just truck and rail oil to refineries. I guess you don't think this hurts the lower income families because this isn't inflation.

Biden is completely lost. He probably is the only one that would think your post had some merit.

Thought I'd pop my head back in here, and literally laughing out loud within seconds seeing the leftwing whackjobs defending Carter and claiming the media is pro-Republican.

Now you guys can go back and proclaim Jimmy Carter a great president if you want. I am done debating with you guys for another 6 months or so. Let's see how bad the US economy gets. Things could get very bad indeed. President Biden is not Joe Biden. Joe Biden is brain dead. A bureau of unnamed radicals are running the country. Everyone knows this whether they are politically willing to admit it or not.

It should be noted that I am a social libertarian and philosophically, economically I subscribe to Milton Friedman's theory of Modern Monetarism. I therefore strongly believe in limited government and the benefits of free enterprise. I received my MBA and worked on my graduate degree at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. I am very worried about my country. If Milton were around today I am sure he would try to enlighten you although I am pretty sure it would be in vain. 555.

Carter didn't win a 2Nd term because he was the worse president ever for inflation and the economy. Not for long though. Biden has done more Carter crap in 4 months than Carter did in 4 years. Biden definitely takes the title away from Carter. At least Biden gets rid of worst VP ever. Harris will win that in a landslide.

Reagan would have won a third term with his economy. Newscaster were fairly honest back in the Reagan years but now the media is just a platform of propaganda for the Democratic Party. No real news anymore from CNN, MSNBB, ABC, CBS or NBC nationally. Locally a little better.
