Very different from the original claim, which was that "Mexican-Americans fleeing California made up 95% of the state's growth."

In fact it is "people of color" (but never "colored people", of course) many of whom are illegals who will need to go back one way or another.

As I have stated before, I am in favor of either major Party doing whatever is legal as long as the repeated, consistent historic and contemporary results of them doing it are Great Economic Recoveries, Expansions, Record High USA Jobs Creation and Bull Market Gains rather than Great Economic Downturns, Recessions, Depressions, Massive USA Jobs Destruction and record Bear Market Crashes.

Democrats do it, not as much as Republicans, and not nearly as well. They also do it to achieve different results. The Maryland example that got cited as an example along with the Wisconsin one that went to the Supreme court say it all. Democrats gerrymander to entrench machine politicians and power brokers within the party. Republicans do it to seize power.

Yet, somehow, miraculously, the 2 new Texas districts gerrymandered into existence this year are 99.99% white Repub districts without one new predominantly Mexican-American or likely Dem district in sight. LOL.

There's probably a lot more to this than you think. When redistricting happens, a bunch of politicians of the Minority party go to the state legislature and ask them to keep their districts safe. The Majority party is usually more than happy to makes them an 80/20 district, making it possible to draw 2 flippable districts. I remember looking a while back and Dan Crenshaw has one of the most fucked up looking districts in the country. I think the worst are still in Chicago and Wisconsin.

Independent redistricting commissions and some of the geometric models and such are the best way of keeping the house competitive and returning a sane Government, but that's never going to happen. California has independent redistricting, and something like 10 of their 50 seats are considered battleground districts. Like 8 of them have flipped back and forth between the last 2 congressional elections. You'd never, ever get a scenario where Republicans would implement a system like that in Florida, Texas or Georgia.
