Typical double standards. When it suits them, it's "I FCUKING love science!" When it doesn't, it's "nothing is clear cut in science". When antifa / BLM burns a city and attacks federal buildings, it's a peaceful protest. When Trump supporters file peacefully through a federal building after being invited in by police and cause no damage, it's an insurrection. When General Petraeus used an unsecure email in a few messages to his girlfriend, he was forced to resign, prosecuted and destroyed. When Crooked Hillary Clinton used an unsecure email for far longer and far more systematically in order to conceal her various crooked deals as Secretary of State, nothing happened to her. When Biden openly bribes the Ukrainians with a billion dollars in US taxpayer money to end in investigation into his crooked crack-smoking son's corrupt deals, nothing happens. When Trump asks the Ukrainians to look into it, he gets impeached.

The further the aggressive, hypocritical leftist lunacy goes, the more convinced I am that we cannot live with these people for whom reality is merely an obstacle for their GloboHomo Marxist plans.
Trump got caught telling 30,000 lies and that does not bother you at all.

Petraeus discussed classified information with his girlfriend. On April 23,2015, Petraeus pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of mishandling classified materials. He was given a two-year probationary period and a fine of $100,000. The Ukraine story has been debunked so many times it is not funny. But you don't care that it is a lie you just want a moron like Trump to keep destroying the country with his lies.

You are clearly not a Christian as you don't follow the teachings of Christ. Instead of spending your time here read the teachings of Christ. You will find them in the New testament. Not the Old testament, not Revelations. Christ came to earth to provide guidance about what God really wanted which was diametrically opposed to the Old Testament (aka Judaism). You are clearly rooted in the Old Testament.

This recount will take years. If they find nothing they will not admit it and if they find something it will be litigated into oblivion because they are so lax in their security and incompetent in their procedures. Yes a certified auditor could have been used but how will the outcome be rigged if that were done? Now the machines have to be decertified because the proper procedures were not undertaken. But gullible Trump supporters have never been interested in facts or the logic they just want to be told what they want to hear.

The recount will be full, thorough, and verified. That is why it is taking so long. We will see what the results are when they arrive.

Is this the same Tucker Carlson whose legal defense to a lawsuit was that only an idiot would believe any of his "facts"?

Still trying to rewrite history, I see.

You really need to stop believing in fairytales. The orange fruitcake lost. He got kicked to to curb and yet a large majority of republikkkans are told what to think by someone considered so dangerous to democracy and society that he has been banned from social media. He tried to start his own blog but failed at that too. Truly the bigget loser.

"GloboHomo"? Brilliant. Just goes to show that republikkkans are homophobic, misogynistic, racist, xenophobic etc. Too scared to live among "different people"? Go to one of these countries. They, like you, hate everybody:

    2. Sudan.

The letter from five virologists published in Nature Medicine on March 17,2020, was the single most influential statement in capturing the public narrative about the origin of SARS-CoV-2. Here was an authoritative statement from leading experts assuring the public that in terms of the virus's origin "we do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible. "

But that's the exact opposite of what these experts thought after taking their first look at the virus. A large batch of emails exchanged with Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was made available this week to BuzzFeed and the Washington Post under the Freedom of Information Act. For the most part the emails concern meeting arrangements or messages from cranks and have been redacted of any meaningful information. But one significant email escaped the censor's black marker.

On Jan. 31,2020, shortly after the SARS-CoV-2 genome had been decoded, Kristian Andersen, the five virologists' leader, emailed Dr. Fauci that there were "unusual features" in the virus. These took up only a small percentage of the genome, so that "one has to look really closely at all the sequences to see that some of the features (potentially) look engineered. "

Mr. Andersen went on to note that he and his team "all find the genome inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory. " It isn't clear exactly what he meant by this striking phrase. But anything inconsistent with an evolutionary origin has to be man-made.

This remarkable email establishes that the Andersen team's initial reaction was to suspect that SARS-CoV-2 had been engineered in a lab. Their subsequent letter doesn't adequately explain how they overcame this impression.

The furin cleavage site, a small element of the virus that they doubtless had in mind when referring to "unusual features," is an anomalous genetic insertion that could be a sign of laboratory manipulation. The distinguished virologist David Baltimore has called it a smoking gun and "a powerful challenge to the idea of a natural origin for SARS2. "

The Andersen team in its letter discusses how the virus could have acquired the furin cleavage site naturally. Their best suggestion is that SARS-CoV-2 picked up the necessary genetic information from people after it had made its jump from bats. But no evidence for this idea has emerged. And it's hard to see why the Andersen team decided that this conjecture should outweigh the appearance of laboratory manipulation.

As virologists, all had a professional interest in not provoking a storm of public condemnation over gain-of-function experiments, the bland name for genetically enhancing the pathogenic power of viruses. After taking one look at the horrific possibility that a lab leak origin for SARS-CoV-2 might cause virology labs all over the world to be closed down, it would seem, the Andersen team decided to disregard their first impressions of possible manipulation. Recall what they said in their letter: "We do not believe that any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible. "

Dr. Fauci has long suggested that the virus emerged naturallyuntil the past few weeks, when he started to allow that lab escape is possible and should be investigated. The Jan. 31,2020, email from Mr. Andersen shows that Dr. Fauci knew from the beginning that experts had serious suspicions about the virus's origins. There were many other matters on his agenda at the time, but it's too bad he didn't ask for an independent panel, one not dominated by virologists, to look into the possibility that Chinese researchers genetically manipulating coronaviruses in low-level safety conditions had sparked a global pandemic. "
Natty, what exactly is the precious "gotcha!" Trumpsters hope to win if it turns out the virus did leak from a lab instead of the far more typical zoonotic mode? My earliest impressions from everything I read previously was only that it was more likely to have originated from a bat rather than created or leaked from a lab in the same way it is more likely the hoof beats you hear outside an Iowa farm house are from horses and not from zebras. It was always clear to me it was only more plausible one way over the other and not that it was "impossible" to have originated in or leaked from a lab. Never heard Fauci say it was impossible.

And now the WSJ opinion piece you quoted from merely states Fauci thinks the lab leak theory ought to be investigated, not that he has concluded or ever "knew it came from a lab" as was asserted by someone else here.

Here is the link for the WSJ opinion piece, btw:
    https://www.wsj.com/articles/fauci-e...ry-11622830092

Lab leak, zoonotic mode, Tinker Bell's pixie dust or something else, sure we want to know how it originated in order to help prevent it from happening again. But the Wuhan wet market connection was really about the first documented super spreading cite, not so much that it "originated" there.

Of course, if it turns out a Chinese lab created the virus as a weapon to unleash on the world, that would be an important discovery. But it would only make Trump's high praise of Xi's transparancy and help in controling the spread in early 2020 look worse as well as the Trump administration resuming the funding for those labs after the Obama administration had put it on pause to investigate the possibility.

    What Maddow assertion?

I didn't assert anything about Maddow. I just posted a link citing her very good cable news ratings. But we're talking about cable news shows, none of which are watched by nearly as many people as the big three broadcast network news shows.

Oh, since you couldn't come up with any suggestion for why ratings-hungry Fox does not have its own evening news program on their regular broadcast network as does ABC, NBC and CBS, I will suggest it is because that program would have to tell the truth as much as reasonably possible or get its free airwaves access license yanked.

So it would be very awkward for this hypothetical "Fox Evening News" program to be reporting the truth about, say, Trump's paltry inauguration crowd to Trump's violent anti-America, cop-attacking, America-hating insurrection mob and everything in between on regular broadcast while Tucker Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham and other Fox liars were busy promoting lies about it on the cable news version.

Consequently, Fox leaves a lot of potential money and added viewership bragging rights on the table by not having such a broadcast network evening news program just so they can get away with lying to you without worry that their possibly only real news show on the broadcast airwaves was contradicting every lie told on their fake news cable channel.

NBC and MSNBC does not appear to be worried about that.

But let's presume the virus did escape from the laboratory. Does it prove a malicious intent or cover up? Only in the same delusional mindset that still believes in the "election steal" after dozens of recounts and court cases have proven it to be a lunacy.

Not everything in science is clear cut. Scientist make mistakes all the time. But assigning malicious intents to a world-class scientist like Dr. Fauci tells more about crackpots who sling those moronic allegations than Fauci.

Not to say we don't need to investigate. We do, but it's got to be a scientific probe, not political.

Which is a wishful thinking, I know.
After Trump's constant downplaying of the pandemic for his own selfish political ends, mocking mask wearers, prescribing bleach, claiming the numbers were cooked and that it would go away with the warm weather, signing on a quack radiologist (Atlas) who pushed the failed Swedish herd immunity model, then claiming the pandemic would end after the election, etc etc the Repubs have had an insatiable appetite for whataboutisms, conspiracy theories, and any and all distractions. Meanwhile Michael Flynn is calling for a Myanmar style coup and Sidney Powell claims Trump will be "reinstated" by August. Whatever.

Trump's support among Repubs is waning, and according to a number of recent polls is well below the 90% your buddy Chris claims. Wink. Also the percentage of Repubs that believe the election was stolen is around 60%, and you can bet your last dollar that this group is heavily weighted toward those without college degrees. That said we are in the driver seat, the winner circle while your poorly educated Repubs are reduced to tears, crying foul over the election they lost. This even though Trump was crying "rigged" long before the first vote was cast. He knew he was going to lose and had the excuse implanted in the minds of fools well in advance.
